More importantly, to stay in the Spiritual World for an extended period of time, Vel either needed to sign a new contract with a local resident or move to the Holy Continent where the Weaver's laws worked differently. 

The Weaver is patient and calculating, but those he aims to destroy…have never escaped death. The Beast has been fighting the Weaver since the dawn of time but never managed to destroy him. And even Vritra, once hailed as the greatest of all gods, was eventually brought down by the Weaver.
