Hushed murmurs accompanied Midori as she watched over Kiyoshi after the latter was wheeled out from the surgery room and settled into a VIP ward on the topmost floor of the hospital.

"Poor Kiyoshi-san. I heard that he sustained seven stab wounds altogether."

"I heard it was more."

"What about the two assailants who were found next to him?"

"Still unconscious..."

"He doesn't get a chance to see his child..."

"Hush... his pregnant lady is right there, she can hear you."

Midori's gaze remained fixed on Kiyoshi's sleeping face. If she were to ignore the tangle of medical equipment and the bandages swaddling his body, she might just believe that he was merely napping.

Her brothers came in one by one to see how she was doing. Each of them tried to coax Midori into going back home.
