After the group saw a plume of smoke in the distance they decided to send a small scouting group out to gather some intel.
Two separate trucks were currently speeding down the road and inside were Daryl, Glenn, T-Dog, Maggie, Andrea, and Shane.
"What do you think it is?" Maggie asked while looking out the window of the truck and keeping an eye out.
"Dont know, but we're about to find out," Shane said before pulling over to an area full of dense brush to hide the trucks about half a mile from the smoke.
"Get dressed, and remember take no actions unless I say otherwise," Shane said before everyone got dressed into a camouflage ghillie suit making them easily blend into the surrounding forest.
Shane whistled and led the group of six silently into the forest toward where the smoke was coming from, they were eerily silent as they traveled through the forest like silent reapers.
Any walkers they ran into were silently killed with a knife before hidden within the a bush making sure they didn't leave any tracks back to their vehicles.
Just as the group caught sight of the crashed helicopter they heard the roaring engine of a few vehicles.
Shane whistled twice and the group of six quickly split up and put their backs against foliage and trees making them completely vanish by the time a couple of suburbans entered their line of sight.
A group of about seven or eight men jumped out of the two vehicles with a man who had an eye patch and a slow but confident gait appearing to be the leader of the group.
They killed a few surrounding walkers swiftly and scouted the area though entirely missing Shane and his group who were watching their every move from a dozen feet away.
The man with the eyepatch dragged out a man who had died in the crash and finished him with a knife to the head before they drove off with two remaining others who had only been injured in the crash.
Shane whistled and they sprinted back toward their vehicles with Shane and Daryl driving their own vehicle each.
"Follow me!" Shane yelled to Daryl before speeding off following the suburbans from a distance.
Only half an hour later did he finally stop following as the vehicles disappeared behind a manned wall.
Shane marked the location on the map and took notes of the layout before making a U-Turn and driving back toward the prison with Daryl still following behind.
An hour later they were at the prison and everyone met up in the C block to plan their next steps.
"So you're saying theirs another group nearby?" Rick asked while grabbing his wrist. They were sore after a few days of learning to farm with Hershel.
He was still the usual bloodthirsty Rick but he wanted to stay put in the prison until Lori gave birth which would be any day now.
"Yup, they seem fairly armed too." Glenn said with a frown
Shane looked at all of them and smirked. He had made them all completely paranoid of other groups though that wasn't a bad thing.
"Well send a group back to scavenge all of those helicopter parts as for the other group, well send her." Shane nodded at Carol who had been listening the whole time but had not spoken a word.
"Carol?" Rick asks while looking at Carol with a confused look.
"She will go in as a lost and sick woman looking for a place to stay, meanwhile she will learn the entire ins and outs of the place along with any of the dirty little secrets they're keeping."
"Carol, are you okay with this?" Rick asked while looking at Carol who smiled gently like a caring grandma before nodding.
"It sounds simple enough." Carol smiled though it only sent a cold chill down Rick's spine making Shane laugh at Rick's funny face.
"Relax she can handle it." Shane stood up and patted Rick on the back before giving Carol a day to prepare and say goodbye to Sophia who had grown a good bit over the winter and had started getting good with a gun along with Carl.
After Shane let everyone grab something to eat he went to his cell to check the list of things he still needed to do but halfway there he was stopped by a grim-looking Dale.
"What's wrong?" Every time Dale had a frown it meant something was up which seemed to be a lot these days.
"We got a problem," Dale said while subtly nodding at Axle.
Shane was confused for a second as Axle had already integrated into the group for a few months and seeing home within the C block wasn't that unusual.
But as he followed Axle's line of sight he saw something that made him see red.
It was Sophia and Carl playing with a few toys they had found while scavenging and Axle was staring at them with a gleam in his eye.
Shane felt his blood boil and he wanted to snap but instantly everything went calm and his voice was steady.
"I'll handle it," Shane said like nothing had happened but that only made Dale even more afraid as he knew when Shane was calm somebody was fucked, luckily that somebody wasn't him.
Shane got Rick and Daryl to escort Axle to a nearby shower area with the excuse of Shane needing to meet with him.
A minute later he saw Axle enter with a nervous look which was just his usual look as the man didn't have a single ounce of courage in his body.
"Axle. Axle. Axle. I let you in this group and after months I thought I had you figured out. I had gotten arrogant thinking I had always had everything figured out, thanks for reminding me of where I come from." Shane shook his head with a disappointed smile.
He was disappointed in himself after spending his last life in actual hell he had gotten super confident in this world thinking nothing could slip past him, he was wrong.
"Wh-What are you talking about?" Axle asked while looking confused and glanced at Rick and Daryl who were staring at him from behind waiting for Shane to make a move.
They had already heard from Shane what kind of man Axle was and both of them were ready to gut him.
"It looks like you forgot what I said." Shane walked toward Axle calmly before lunging with a punch to his gut making him gasp and fall to his knees like a sack of potatoes.
"I said if you stuttered one more time I'll tear your tongue out," Shane said with a dark smirk before using one hand to open Axle's mouth and the other reached in and got a grip on Axle's tongue as he tried to wiggle and speak but Daryl and Rick held him down.
Slowly Shane tore the tongue out of Axle's mouth as he squealed and tried to twist his head around but Shane had his entire head clamped by the two sides of his jaw holding him still as his tongue tore from the lower part of his mouth and blood began making him choke.
"Ahhh! Pwase! Slawp!" Axel screamed
A second later Shane was holding Axle's ripped-off tongue and looking him in the eyes.
"Gaw!" Axle threw up a puddle of blood while Shane tossed his tongue down in front of his face.
"When I'm done with you, you won't even be the same person anymore," Shane said with a calm smirk, while Axel looked up at his bloodthirsty eyes and his bloody red skull vest.
He felt like a demon was looking down at him and he wished they would just kill him quickly.
"Pull his pants down."
"Owa!Owa!" Axle tried to say something, but all that came out were jumbled gargles, and Rick and Daryl soon had him on the ground with his pants down.
Finally, the true torment had begun.
"Ahhh!"
The sounds of screaming and squealing echoed for a few hours like a dungeon of hell before the prison finally quieted down.
Shane looked down at his bloody hands under the water before shaking his head slightly. He didn't want to hurt anyone in his group but he had never expected Axle to be a child molester and unluckily for Axle he hated child molesters.
But that was all over now with Rick and Daryl having already put all the pieces of Axle in a bag before burning it to ash outside.
In his past life he had interrogated people for information on other groups and had learnt quite a few techniques to keep someone alive but on the brink of death.
It seems it would come in handy in this life as well.
Shane put on his clean punisher vest and a black trench coat over it before walking outside the bathroom and into the main cell area where a small group was getting ready to drop Carol off at the other group.
Walking toward the group he saw them all eating and laughing with Oscar and Big tiny looking a little pale after hearing what had happened last night.
At first they were thinking of leaving but once they heard about Axle being a kid lover they understood and wished they had gotten a piece of him as well.
"You okay Shane?" Amy, who was wearing black skinny jeans and a black crop top that showed off her tight body and smooth stomach, came over and handed him a bowl of chili while rubbing his shoulders.
She knew Shane had a darker side to him and she was okay with that as this was a dark world but she didn't want him to fall too far into it to where he couldn't come back from it.
Shane put his hand on Amy's which was resting on his shoulder and gave it a small squeeze.
"Of course. Something that small can't shake me." Shane said before quickly eating his chili and enjoying Amy's small massage while everyone else giggled and laughed making him chuckle.
A second ago he looked like your neighborhood psychopath and now he looked like a stay at home dad.
While eating he noticed Carl saunter over to him with a nervous look while wearing his dads sheriff hat and a silenced pistol tucked into the waistband of his jeans.
Carl stood in front of him a few seconds not saying anything, making him grow impatient.
"Spit it out boy." Shane said while putting his chili bowl down which Amy took away to clean.
"Uncle Shane, can I come with you to drop Carol off?" Carl said while fidgeting with his hat.
Shane thought for a second before nodding.
"I'm fine with it but you'll need to ask your parents."
Before Shane could say anything else Carl was already running off screaming behind him.
"Thanks Uncle Shane!" Carl said before running toward his dad and mom who were outside with Hershel and a few others farming and taking care of the livestock.
"Are you sure that's a good idea Shane?" Andrea who was also sitting with the group asked while looking at the small back of Carl who had grown a good bit over the winter.
"He's a good shot, calm in dangerous situations. He will be fine as long as I'm there." Shane smiled at Andrea who nodded.
If there was anyone she trusted to protect the group it was Shane.
He was a single man army.
"Daryl, call everyone who's going and tell them to meet at the truck in ten, we're heading out before the sun fully comes out." Shane said to Daryl who had been licking his fingers clean of Chili before looking at him and nodding.
Shane went to his cell where all his weapons were laid out along with holsters and a bunch of other gear they had scavenged over time.
"Let me help." Amy came in with her blonde hair in a small bun before helping to attach his guns to him and putting a few ammo pouches and grenade pouches on his belt buckle.
After she was done they both stared into each others eyes before Amy spoke.
"Please be safe." Amy put her small hand on Shane's skull vest which already had multiple bullet holes.
"I'll try." Shane smirked before putting his hand on Amy's soft cheek and leaned in before they slowly tasted each other's lips.
Shane felt his heart beat grow faster as all the consequences of this kiss poured into his head.
He knew he now had a major weakness in this world that could cost him his life but a second later all those thoughts disappeared.
What was the point of even surviving if it was just him alone?
So he let himself fall for Amy completely while knowing he'd do anything to protect her and she would do the same for him.
He enjoyed her soft lips a second more before leaning back and looking into Amy's glistening green eyes before he started walking out of the cell.
"I'll be back." He smiled as Amy blushed before she nodded.
A few minutes later everyone was at the truck ready to leave with a few people saying their goodbyes.
Sniff sniff
Sophia cried while hugging her mom.
"Please come back." Sophia, who had also grown quite a bit, hugged her mom before letting her go.
"Shane-"
"Don't worry Lori, Carl is a strong boy he can take care of himself, besides I won't let anything happen to him." Shane said to Lori who was nervously rubbing her hands together with Rick putting a hand on her shoulder.
"I trust you Shane." Rick said with a nod which displayed all the trust he had for Shane who was his best friend and helped his family get out of the city during the outbreak.
"Mom, I will be careful, promise." Carl said while nodding at his mom who patted his cowboy hat and smiled sadly while rubbing her pregnant stomach which looked ready to burst.
"You're a good boy." Lori said before they all started loading up.
Daryl was driving with him in the passenger seat.
In the back was Carl, Carol and Glenn who had already kissed Maggie goodbye.
They had already grown very close over the winter and could be seen spending nights together in the watchtowers.
Hershel had even given Glenn his pocket watch showing his acceptance of the relationship which made everyone proud of Glenn as he was a good man who had grown quite a bit over the last few months.
"Set off." Shane said to Daryl who stomped on the gas and soon the bridge was lowered and they headed toward the other community who'd they be spying on for the next few days.
If there was nothing off about them they would let themselves be known and start trading and working together but if they found something they didn't like, well…
Then they would get rid of a potential enemy.
