But these past two days, he hadn't seen Elly Campbell, yet her image occasionally sprang to mind, defiantly declaring that he must appear before her immediately, right now.

He stared at the cellphone in his hand for a long time, but ultimately could not resist picking it up and dialing Elly Campbell's number.

As the phone began to ring, Elly Campbell stared at the numbers on the screen - the same ones she hadn't been able to forget even after four years - her eye color deepened.

In the past, Adam Jones never initiated calls to her. These past two days, however, it seemed he'd gone mad, dialing her number again after being hung up on so many times.

The number of calls Adam Jones had made to her in these two days exceeded those during the three years of his marriage; the tables had turned, as once he'd hung up on her, and now it was her turn to do so.

"Staring at the phone for so long, why not answer it?"
