Capítulo 135: Not Chosen

"Forty votes, forty out of all of the hundred persons present. Is that all I get, Elder Basil?" Jelani roared as he stormed into his room.

Following him was his father's personal advisor and head of the palace elders, the ones in charge of the crowning of the next king and implementing the rules.

Elder Basil sighed. He wore an old-looking wrap across one shoulder, reaching his knees, and his gray hair trimmed short. "I am not the one in the minds of the people,"

Jelani glared at him, and the man bowed his head.

Earlier, he had gone to the elders after returning from his journey and told them about crowning him as the next king. However, most of them refused, saying that since a calamity befell on the day he was supposed to be coronated, it only means that the gods did not choose him. Therefore, after voting, the other party won.

"How dare those elders defile me," he groaned, pacing back and forth.
