Unfortunately, that was a useless venture on his part since he didn't exactly need such a thing.
"You know a simple knock would have worked as well," Oliver said as he dropped his notes and turned towards the door.
"We are sorry, however, due to recent events, we have taken to assuming all new mutants are hostile," a male voice was heard as a bald man came in through the dimly lit hallway.
"That is a very poor excuse, and you know that," Oliver replied, somehow not even feeling a single threat to his life.
It was as though he had lost his fight-or-flight response or developed it to the extent that he could instantly analyze how much of a threat someone actually was.
Either way, he was weirded out by his current predicament, but that was only a problem for himself. He still needed to figure out what their problem was.
"Then we are sorry for barging into your home. I hope this doesn't affect your decision-making later on," the bald man stated.
"At this point in my life, I don't think anything can do that," Oliver replied as he stood up from the comfortable balcony chair.
"Anyway, since you're here, I may as well welcome you all properly. So, follow me," Oliver said as he walked into the house, bypassing the man.
"Be alert, he's dangerous."
As Oliver passed him, he finally got to see the rest of the team. Standing directly behind the bald man was a hairy middle-aged man.
His hair stood as though trying to replicate the ears of an animal, and he had a very wild aura to him that Oliver commended but greatly noted.
Standing beside him was another man who, like the first, was hairy or possibly more so, but the hair on his body shone blue under the moonlight. However, unlike the first, he had a weirdly scholarly feel to him that Oliver quite liked but still noted as dangerous.
A few centimeters behind the two were two women, both seemingly in their early to mid-twenties, one with red hair and the other with white hair.
However, unlike the other three, his every instinct screamed danger as soon as he saw the two ladies. It was indeed the latter; his fight-or-flight response had greatly improved.
"I see, you to calm the target, the other two to intimidate if it doesn't go well, and these two to end business if things don't go well at all," Oliver noted as he chuckled.
"This is only to ensure our safety. Our goal isn't to kill or capture you," the man said as his wheelchair moved without anyone pushing it.
"Then what are you here for?" Oliver asked, acting as though he didn't see the wheelchair move.
Even if he didn't exactly know much about the Marvel or DC Universe, he had still seen some movies and had come across posts and fanfictions online.
He knew who the man was, but with how little he actually knew, it was best he acted as though he didn't. It was currently his best option.
"First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Professor Charles Xavier. These are my associates, Logan, Hank, Jean, and Miss Monroe," the bald man said while pointing them out as he spoke.
"Well then, my name is Oliver Adams. So now can we get down to business? Also, take a seat. I believe you all must be tired of standing."
"Thank you," the two ladies said before sitting on the provided couch.
