He took a small step towards her. As soon as he did, she held his shoulders and something soft touched his right cheek.
When he realized it was a kiss, he froze in place.
"Thank you for helping me out yesterday," she said as she watched him step back. Then he turned away from her and got out of the door before leaning on the cold hard wall outside, away from her eyes and her presence.
He grabbed his chest, crumpling his white shirt. He thought his heartbeat was racing, but it was calm, like an untouched pond. When he touched his cheeks, they were cool. With the body of a child, he was physically calm but mentally, it was like a volcano erupted inside of him.
"Zach," she called as she stepped out to look for him. Her galactic purple eyes glazed over the front yard, but he wasn't there, so she turned and saw him pasted on the wall.
