The next day, John oversaw the construction of the teleportation device. Myers and Edwards worked tirelessly and John stood by the sides, trying to provide them with whatever they needed. John simply played with his mentor's last gift, a knife. His mentor had taught him how to fight, how to arm himself, how to survive and how to kill. What kind of person picks up a stray and teaches him all these things? As time went on, John couldn't help but think his mentor knew about the apocalypse somehow.

While everyone worked, Mika approached John, a small smirk playing on her lips and her emerald eyes glowing.

"Can we talk?" Mika asked.

John nodded, and they stepped out into the garden. The wind rustled her hair and John noticed something different about her. She seemed at ease.

"What's up, Mika?"

She drew a deep breath and faced John, her blue eyes boring into his, "I want to help you with the rescue mission," she said earnestly.
