Capítulo 46: Eric

Jolene's boyfriend rushed to her side, his features expressed concern, but John waged there was something else hidden in the man's gaze, something ominous.

As he arrived next to them, he turned to Jolene, "Jolene! Where were you? Are you alright?"

"Yes, Eric, I'm fine. Maria needs some medication and we went out to get it."

As Jolene spoke, John's mind wandered back to their high school days. Those were some of the toughest times of his life, and it was all thanks to this man - Eric.

Eric was the son of a powerful local politician and businessman. His father had pampered him beyond belief, and Eric was someone who craved constant excitement. When sports and video games no longer satisfied his hunger for thrills, he turned to more nefarious pursuits...

And John became his favourite victim.

It was the first day of high school for John and all the first-years around him. They were gathered around the courtyard where the school's principal was giving his usual welcome speech. Despite his circumstances, John wore a smile, like he always used to do, but little did he know his life was about to spiral out of control.

The students were lined up in rows and a brown-haired boy stood absentmindedly a few rows away from John. The boy's gaze was blank but as if something had clicked inside him, he began to survey the courtyard, scanning all of his peer's faces, and then, his gaze landed on John.

He scrutinized every feature of John's face and his lips curled into a smile. John only learned this much later, but Eric had chosen him at random. He was chosen within an hour of their first day of school to be Eric' entertainment.

Later that day, during recess, Eric was sitting on a bench with two other boys. Eric and the boys approached John who was sitting by himself eating a sandwich.

John spotted them, his smile beaming as usual, but his heart sank when one of the boys slapped the sandwich out of his hands and fell to the floor. John tried to pick the sandwich back up. He wasn't one to frown at something like this, there were times he had no choice but to eat much worse.

But the boys weren't content with that. They remained silent, and Eric, wearing only a sinister smile, watched as the two others lunged at John.

As the blows and kicks rained down upon him, John's young mind raced. He didn't understand why these boys were doing this to him. He thought they were here to make friends, to enjoy the new experience of high school. His trust in the goodness of people had yet to be marred by the harsh realities of the world.

As the punches and kicks landed with increasing force, John's body writhed in pain. His thoughts wandering, he wondered how anyone could be so cruel, so callous. Why had he been chosen as the target for their amusement?

He didn't cry out, didn't beg for mercy. Instead, he clung to his inner resilience, a determination to endure, to stand his ground in the face of this unexplained brutality. The scuffling continued, the bullies seemingly intent on breaking his spirit.

In those painful moments, the child version of John developed a resolve, a stubborn determination that would serve him well in the years to come. He may not have comprehended it fully at the time, but he was forging the steel of his character, one that would eventually grow strong enough to face any adversity, including the trials of the apocalypse and the challenges that lay ahead.

However, John's high school life would be a living hell before he could fully forge his character. Throughout their high school years, Eric subjected John to a litany of torment. He manipulated others to humiliate John in front of the whole school, set cruel traps and pranks, and even spread malicious rumours about him.

Eric's twisted sense of amusement fuelled a relentless campaign of psychological and physical abuse, all designed to break John's spirit and crush his self-esteem. It was a harrowing period in John's life, marked by cruelty, betrayal, and enduring pain.

Eric's torture had eventually led John to his breaking point, the time he met his mentor.

"John, this is Eric," Jolene introduced, her eyes widening as she observed the intense reaction on John's face. His jaw tightened, and his eyes blazed with a deep, simmering anger as if he could see right through Eric, though Jolene couldn't comprehend the reason behind this sudden change in John.

John snapped out of his stupor and took a deep breath. He turned to Eric and smiled, "fancy seeing you here, Liebermann."

Eric's eyebrows shot up, his voice faltering, "John... Sarack?"

A solitary bead of sweat trickled down Eric's temple. The revelation of John's identity made him nervous. What would Jolene think of him if she knew of what he put John through?

John smiled, revelling in Eric's anxious demeanour. Throughout his life, John had seen Eric as a figure with a dominating demeanour, but he hadn't done anything, yet, and he was already almost trembling in fear. John stepped closer to Jolene, sliding his hand around her waist.

"Eric and I go waaaaay back," John remarked, his voice danced around the words in a teasing rhythm. "We attended the same high school, didn't we, Eric?"

Eric swallowed hard as Jolene's eyes narrowed, sensing the tension in the air. Unaware of John's true intentions, the couple remained fixated on their conversation, oblivious to the lewd gesture John was making by placing his hand at the top of Jolene's ass.

Jolene's buttocks were firm and round, with soft, plump curves that hugged her body perfectly. Her skin was smooth and supple, with a hint of golden warmth that accentuated her natural beauty. John wouldn't waste an opportunity to appreciate her body, more so if it meant doing it under Eric's nose.

As John continued to stare at Jolene's buttocks, he couldn't help but feel a surge of desire. He had begun feeling attracted to Jolene since he received the system's quest, but he had never acted on it until now. He began to mentally undress her, imagining her naked body beneath his hands.

He imagined running his fingers through her long, flowing hair, pulling it back to reveal her neck and shoulders. He imagined tracing his fingertips over her delicate collarbone, feeling the soft skin beneath his touch.

Next, he imagined unbuttoning her blouse, revealing her lacy bra. He imagined cupping her breasts in his hands, feeling the firmness of her nipples against his palms. He imagined pinching and tweaking her sensitive buds, watching as they pebbled under his touch.

Finally, he imagined slipping his hand into her pants, feeling the heat of her bare skin against his fingertips. He imagined pulling her pants down, revealing her bare ass, and bending her over his knee. He imagined running his hands over her curves, feeling the softness of her flesh against his palms.

As he continued to imagine these fantasies, John couldn't help but feel a growing sense of urgency. He wanted Jolene, and he wanted her now. Just then, the system's notification chimed:

[Revenge NTR]

[Quest: Get revenge on your childhood tormentor by having sexual intercourse with his girlfriend.]

[Rewards: Strength Points. The number of Strength Points rewarded is relative to the performance and outcome of the quest.]

John's heart raced as he read the message. This was his chance to get back at Eric, the boy who had tormented him throughout high school. With renewed determination, John set out to complete the quest and claim his rewards.

Capítulo 47: A sweet kiss

At the shelter, John paced anxiously as Edward meticulously prepared the Neuroregen-X treatment for Maria. Time stretched out before them like a torturous snail crawl, as John's mind buzzed with a whirlwind of possibilities.

What if the drug failed? What if the alien technology interfered? Maria's fragile existence hung in the balance, teetering on the edge of life and death. But Edward had promised that this experimental compound held the greatest chance of bringing Maria back from her coma.

Jolene stood beside him, her hands fidgeting nervously. "Do you think it will work?" she asked hesitantly, echoing the unvoiced fears that haunted them both.

"It has to," John declared with unwavering conviction. Beneath his confident exterior, however, doubts gnawed at him. John couldn't know for certain, but he wanted to reassure Jolene.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Edward emerged from Maria's room. Jolene rushed to confront him, her breath held in anticipation. On Edward's sombre countenance, she found her answer.

"Well?" John demanded, his voice crackling with impatience. "Did it work?"

Edward sighed heavily. "The treatment seems to be fighting against Maria's system's enforced hibernation. But it's too early to determine whether the treatment will triumph. We'll know in a few hours."

Jolene's heart sank at the uncertainty. But a glimmer of hope lingered. If the drug succeeded, it would offer them a lifeline to save Maria from her perpetual state of unconsciousness. Now, all she could do was wait and trust in the silent battle unfolding within Maria.

Just then, Jolene offered John a cup of coffee. "Hey, John, why don't we step outside for a minute? There's a bench nearby where we can talk in peace."

John nodded, grateful for the opportunity to clear his head. As they sat on the bench, Jolene started talking about her life before the apocalypse. She shared stories of her unhappy childhood, her absent parents, and her desperation for a better life.

John listened intently, feeling a strange mix of sympathy and relief. He realised that despite his own troubled past, he felt strangely content in the chaos of the apocalypse. He confessed to Jolene that he often wondered what his life would be like if the invasion never happened.

Jolene placed a comforting hand on John's shoulder. "We can't change the past, John. But we can make the most of our present. And maybe, just maybe, we can find happiness again."

John smiled and as he remembered the new quest from the system, he stole a peek at Jolene's breast. They were large and full, with perky nipples that puckered in the cool breeze. He admired the way they swayed gently with each breath, drawing his gaze back to her chestnut-coloured hair and deep green eyes that sparkled with mischief.

"So, Eric, huh?" John said, his tone dripping with disdain.

"Yeah... I can't believe you two were friends. Small world, I guess..." Jolene muttered.

"Friends?" That's one way to put it," John said, rolling his eyes.

"What do you mean?" Jolene asked, genuinely curious.

"I only learned this a little while before I dropped out," John explained as he paused dramatically. "But it turns out, Eric had chosen me the very first day of high school. Can you believe it?"

"Chosen? For what?" Jolene inquired, intrigued.

"It must have been around the time he was getting tired of bullying me, but he told me that he chose someone at random, someone he could use to pass time. In other words, someone to bully."

Jolene froze, stunned. This was nothing like the Eric she knew. "You're...you're not joking, right?" she stammered.

"Unfortunately not. There were many reasons why I had to drop out, but Eric was undoubtedly the main reason. I just..." John took a pause and closed his eyes with a pained expression, feigning vulnerability.

This was most certainly not a happy memory for John, but he had moulded his unwavering optimism into detached indifference. Something like this was not enough to break him, but he needed Jolene's sympathy.

Unconsciously, Jolene drew nearer to John, placing her hand softly on her chest as she whispered, "I'm sorry, John."

John took in a deep breath, putting all his effort into his acting, his lips curved ever so slightly.

'I have to come off as if I'm trying to maintain a strong facade,' John thought.

He then spoke gently, caressing Jolene's cheek with his thumb, "There is no need for apologies, Jolene. You did nothing wrong. It was him, not you."

A single tear rolled down Jolene's cheek. John tenderly wiped it away, the perfect facade of sensitivity.

Jolene laughed shakily. "I was supposed to be comforting you."

"Having you here is comfort enough," John replied, holding her gaze. On the inside, his mind churned with satisfaction.

Jolene was fully ensnared in his fabricated vulnerability. She smiled at his words and he pulled her close to his chest. He could hear her heartbeat quickening, thumping like a jackhammer.

John leaned in closer, gently guiding Jolene's head to rest against his shoulder. She tensed at the sudden intimacy, pulse quickening.

He angled his face near hers, lips just barely grazing her ear. "Jolene?" he murmured softly.

She turned towards him reflexively and found her nose only centimetres from his. Her heart hammered wildly now in her chest. His features blurred, enveloping her senses - those dark, penetrating eyes, the warm breath tickling her skin, his proximity paralysed her.

Despite having a boyfriend, she couldn't shake off the undeniable chemistry between them. It was as if time stood still when they were together, and everything else faded away until there was only Jolene and John.

Some invisible chemistry seemed to suspend reality when they were this close. The world receded until nothing existed but the two of them. She knew it was wrong, but the attraction refused to be ignored.

John leaned further in, elbows resting casually mere inches from her. Jolene's body thrummed, hyper-aware of each subtle movement. His steady gaze transfixed her, threatening to pull her into unknown depths.

The very air around them felt electric, charged by something profound. Jolene tried to resist the current, reminding herself of commitment to her boyfriend, but she was helpless against its power. Forces beyond her understanding were at play, drawing her ever closer to John's mysterious aura.

"Jolene," John breathed, his voice a hypnotic whisper in her ear. His warm breath cascaded over her skin, blooming rosy heat across her cheeks.

She shivered, heartbeat raging out of control. "Y-yes?" she managed weakly, trapped in his smouldering gaze.

With torturous slowness, his hand slid to her waist, fingertips igniting sparks along her spine. He leaned closer, to the point she could feel the heat radiating from him.

"You're so beautiful," he murmured, the words like velvet. His lips hovered a hair's width from hers, so close she could almost taste him. The pull between them was magnetic now, irresistible.

Jolene's mind clouded, overwhelmed by dizzying sensations. She unconsciously parted her lips, an invitation and plea wrapped into one. Her eyes fluttered closed as she gave herself fully to the intensity of the moment.

"John..." she sighed, ready to dissolve into the kiss that teetered agonizingly close. His name on her lips was the point of no return. The world around them faded, meaningless in the face of such exquisite anticipation.

Somehow, I had used Julia's husband name for Jolene's boyfriend in the previous chapter. I went back and fixed this. His name is actually Eric, not Martin. Sorry about that. Well, he's getting NTR'd either way
