Trees stood close to each other in the Midnight Forest. Their trunks were thick, so only a few parts of the forest, including the trail, could be passed by an adult human.

Max's running speed slowed down considerably in this terrain.

On the other hand, animals that had lived in the forest since birth could navigate easily.

If this went on, the pack of wolves could catch up to Max and kill him.
