Capítulo 272: Kallen, I won't let you die

"Then don't judge. Everyone's opinions about others are shallow and biased," Luo Mo said with a smile.

"But as their old friend, I don't deserve to judge them, so who can? Look, and I didn't say anything wrong."

The Herrscher of Sentience crossed her arms, looking at Fu Hua with a smile. She had been getting along well with her over the past two days and found her more reasonable than the one she knew before.

"Damn it, is it because, without Otto, she's more humane?" she wondered.

"However, in comparison, only Old Antique has overcome the heartache of the year. Isn't she the best among the three?" Herrscher of Sentience said with question.

"Stop joking," Fu Hua replied, looking serious but also a bit helpless.

"Haha, well, I don't hate Otto that much anymore. But If I get the chance to test the toughness of his soulium face again, I wouldn't mind," the Herrscher of Sentience said with a smile.

Herrscher of Sentience said with a smile, and patted Fu Hua on the shoulder to express her intimacy.

Kevin still wore the same ice-cold expression he had for thousands of years, but now, compared to before, his face didn't seem as cold.

"Kevin..." Su's eyelids trembled slightly, showing concern for his old friend.

"When Mei died, he also died... I agree with that statement," Kevin said unexpectedly, a deep meaning in his eyes. "But I'm different; I'm just a memory of him."

"Oh, I see. Is that really the case?" The Herrscher of Sentience nodded, feeling like she finally understood what Kevin meant. "No wonder you seem so different from the Kevin I knew. Even after 500 years, I couldn't change you."

"Mei was very important to me," Kevin continued, "but I only retain fragmented memories of her. After all, my duty now is just to pass on the legacy of salvation to those who come after me."

---

In the video, the Herrscher of Sentience didn't say a single kind word about her 'former self'.

There was clear dissatisfaction in her words, with a tone suggesting, "I'm better now than I was before."

She had just woken up and seemed unhappy with everything she remembered.

She was even more furious when her eldest disciple Lin Zhaoyu appeared in front of her and asked her if she was dead.

"Do you hate them?" Fu Hua asked after a moment of silence.

"I don't even remember. There's no love or hate," the Herrscher of Sentience replied with an easy-going voice, almost as if talking to herself. She moved forward, shrouded in layers of clouds, undeterred.

"It's simply a case of murder for revenge. After all, I'm the one who raised them. Whether they're seeking revenge or not, they have to obey me, even in death," the Herrscher of Sentience said softly.

"Raising tigers will only lead to disaster... I must not make that mistake," she continued. Then she raised her hand, causing the figures of several people to disperse.

Fu Hua was silent, lost in thought.

The question she had asked wasn't just directed at the other person; it was also a question for herself.

Did she hate the other person?

It felt like she did, but at the same time, she wasn't sure.

The pain from that betrayal still lingered, just like the wound from a sword.

She had survived countless battles and faced death many times, but the betrayal that struck her heart still made her feel uncertain. All she could do was remain silent.

---

"Immortal...?" Book of Fuxi looked at Fu Hua with worry. She knew all the mistakes were her fault. She should have realized that immortals aren't good at interpersonal communication, but she didn't expect things to turn out this way.

But that plan always had the risk of something happening to Fu Hua.

"Do you... still remember it clearly?" Fu Hua asked the Herrscher of Sentience.

She wasn't sure who was right or wrong, but what she couldn't forget was the betrayal of that sword.

"Me?" The Herrscher of Sentience pointed at herself, looking a bit surprised.

"Haha——, for you, it is an experience that is engraved in your bones, an emotion that you have experienced. But for me, it is more like a story from a book that has been memorized backwards. I can't understand your emotions."

"So, I don't feel sad or regretful or anything."

It can be seen that the Herrscher of Sentience still has a tough mouth(Tsundere).

"Oh, but someone once told me that you should pay attention to what you say," Fu Hua said, staring at her for a moment.

" Hmph, that old antique, your life is really quite successful! "

---

Following the choice of the Herrscher of Sentience, the two came to Taixu Mountain.

the mountains is beautiful, and the decorations are still the same as before, like a throwback to five hundred years ago.

She picked up a red feather she had dropped. "It's Otto's memory again," she said with disdain after closing her eyes and sensing it. "I really didn't like my old self."

she gave Fu Hua a meaningful look and then said, " Of course, I also know that you don't look down on me either. "

"... I'm worried about you."

"Worried about me? Haha," the Herrscher of Sentience laughed, as if she'd just heard a funny joke. "I'm feeling great! I've never felt better. For the first time since I woke up, I feel free and unburdened."

"I finally understand who I am: I am Fu Hua, it's that simple! This Taixu Mountain is my hometown. Walking here, everything feels both familiar and yet so novel..."

"These feathers, these memories... they're all mine."

"This is what a sense of belonging feels like. I'm fine!" The Herrscher of Sentience nodded with great satisfaction, not noticing that Fu Hua beside her sighed again.

---

[ This child is hopeless, it completely proves that the illness is serious, and she has completely transformed into the shape of Fu Hua]

[didn't like her old self? Have you ever considered that she is a completely different person from you?]

"Do you... really like Taixu Mountain?" Fu Hua asked the other person with uncertainty.

"No, no, who likes that darn place with inconvenient transportation and outdated technology?"

"But didn't you say that this is your home? A sense of belonging..." Fu Hua questioned, tilting her head in doubt.

"Hey, not anymore. The house feels too empty and dull. St. Freya is where it's at. It looks good, and everyone there is talented. It's really exciting!" The Herrscher of Sentience said, showing a bit of excitement.

Here, she won't face discrimination because she's a Herrscher, and there's always something interesting happening every day. What could be better than that?

"Hmm? Little Senti, are you trying to say... wherever Fu Hua is, that's home?" Elysia found it amusing to watch the daily antics of the two, and she seemed to be joining in too. ♪

However, she was not welcomed by Mei, nor was she welcomed by Little Senti, so what should she do? ♪

"Yeah that's right." The Herrscher of Sentience curled her lips and said. She had already evaluate Elysia and knew she possessed genuine strength, making her a formidable opponent.

"Hmm, yeah, home is where my friends are. It looks like we're on the same page. How about staying with us for a few days?" Elysia's eyes twinkled with a smile…

She was not inexperienced in dealing with Tsundere because she catch one snake every night.

Once the Herrscher of Sentience agreed to come, Elysia knew she wouldn't let her leave easily. She planned to carefully observe the differences between Little senti and Fu Hua.

" It's no big deal, there's no need for it. "

Alarm bells rang in the heart of the Herrscher of Sentience, and he felt inexplicable danger, "I mean... the Old Antique's house is... less well to do and with fewer stuffs but..."

" If you want to go, you can go at any time. " Fu Hua twitched the corner of his mouth.

The other party was really rude in what she said, and there wasn't much furniture in her place, so it was okay.

"We're just talking about it, why would I want to come and live here? I feel a lot more at ease at your place Old Antique."

---

"Fulfill your engagement with me, you know I... won't let you die."

Deep in a dark dungeon, the saint who was destined at that time - Kallen, was imprisoned here.

She was just within reach of Otto, separated only by a wall.

"...Schicksal doesn't care about whether I live or die, or about our relationship. When I agreed to our engagement, I simply became a pawn for the bishop to control the Kaslana family," Kallen explained, her figure slightly thin from her time in prison, but her posture still upright.

"...You're right."

Of course, Otto was aware of everything.

He had considered all the interests involved in the situation, but he felt powerless.

He could only watch as Kallen neared the brink of death, unable to persuade her or appease the higher-ups.

He felt utterly helpless.

"But since the marriage contract could have been just a piece of paper from the start, it can be one now, and it can be... in the future," Otto murmured, his voice growing softer.

"The important thing is... you're alive, Kallen."

He knew her so well that he could predict her next words, but he still held onto hope for a miracle.

"Maybe living is important..." Kallen's voice was soft, her eyes distant with an unusual haze. "But betraying your own heart and being used as a pawn, is that truly living? Such a way of life... It's no better than death."

A wry smile formed on Otto's lips, but inwardly, he just sighed.

But it's impossible, Kallen can't die,

He would not allow her to die,

It wasn't Kallen who deserved to die.

He had done countless wrong things before, but this time it was to save her name.

Isn't it more noble than any other time?

Otto's fingers tightened around the cold iron bars, the harsh reality of his situation shattering his pride.

"Kallen, I get it... I get it all... but I won't let you die, no matter what I have to do, never!" Otto declared passionately from the other side of the darkness.

In response, Kallen suddenly offered a soft smile.

"Thank you… my great inventor. "

Silence followed, heavy with unspoken words hanging between them. Yet, in the end, it all felt meaningless against the barrier that separated them. Kallen wouldn't agree to the terms, and neither would Otto.

Finally, Otto poured a glass of red wine for Kallen, took the bottle she had given him, and left without a word.

"Maybe in some other world..." Kallen's whisper trailed off behind him, unheard by anyone.

---

[How modest he is, finding himself in such a mess sometimes.]

[Thus, for five hundred years, Otto has never been able to shake the image of Kallen from his wine glass. Whenever he pours himself a glass of red wine and swirls it around, he sees the faint outline of his friend reflected on the surface.]

[Kallen's ideals are too lofty, too pure to tolerate even the smallest blemish, and they remain unshakable. But for Otto, all he desires... is for Kallen to stay alive.]

[That is what she once said: "Come with me to save the world, my great inventor" ]

[This is the eternal regret that weighs heavy on his heart, knowing he couldn't do those things back then. So now, as he sits among the clouds, wielding his power, he vows never to feel as powerless as he did before.]

At this moment, at least no one is judging him anymore.

Faced with the overwhelming force of Schicksal in those times, even Otto couldn't hope for a miracle that was never going to happen.

After all, he wasn't the main character, at least not back then.

"This is Otto, he's always been like this, never changed. For him, Kallen is more important than anything else," the Herrscher of Sentience said, her tone tinged with helplessness.

"You probably don't know what happens next, except for this guy, of course," she added, glancing at Luo Mo before continuing.

"To save Kallen, Otto struck a deal with others and released Honkai Beasts to cause chaos at the execution site."

"Did he succeed?" Elysia blurted out, but as soon as the words left her mouth, she realized it was a stupid question.

"Success? Well, you could say it wasn't a failure. Kallen didn't die at the hands of the executioner, but instead sacrificed herself to save others from the Honkai Beast. Though she could be a bit stubborn, I have to admit, Kallen lived up to her title as Saintess. She was born to protect people, perfectly embodying the motto of the Kaslana family."

"When she died, Otto's heart died with her. Just like Kevin, a part of him died in the past." Herrscher of Sentience recounted slowly, piecing together the story based on the few words she had heard from Otto.

In her view, Kallen had plenty of opportunities to survive, even after being captured by Schicksal.

She could have agreed to the engagement or escaped from the execution site.

But instead, she chose neither option and faced her fate like a true saint. She walked towards death and used her life as a bargaining chip to challenge Schicksal.

Maybe… this version of Kallen would make Otto regret his choices in life.

"... She is indeed a great person." Elysia's eyes were a little sad, wondering if she thought of her old friend from the previous civilization.

She has seen the brilliance of countless such people, but as Kevin said at the time,

——They died, not one survived.

"It's hard to say what was right or wrong back then. If you think about it, if Kallen had survived, would Otto have had the will to keep going for five hundred years? Maybe in the end, both of them would be lost in the dust of the times."

"Oh ~, other people's affairs are difficult to deal with."

The Herrscher of Sentience just shook her head, her eyes slightly tactful.

"But shouldn't you hate him a lot?" Elysia asked, surprised by the Herrscher of Sentience's earlier words. After all, she knew the other person had quite an issue with Otto.

"Who knows? I might change too, right? Maybe it's seeing his achievements compared to mine, or maybe it's seeing him actually succeed in the end. This world is truly something else," the Herrscher of Sentience sighed, reflecting on how Otto's words, once taken as a joke, now seemed to hold some truth.

At least in this world, he had found success.

Though she couldn't be sure if he was the same Otto from her own world, the concept of time posed a challenge for both her and Old Antique.

"Whenever I get really annoyed, I end up calling him. And when I want to have a chat, I can't just talk to him face to face anymore."

"Nine out of ten things in life are unsatisfactory ~"

"You're still singing " Luo Mo glanced at the other party and said.

"Well, reciting and composing poems are my specialties. I've got thousands of years of Chinese history stored up here," the Herrscher of Sentience said proudly, tapping her head.
