Capítulo 143: Chapter 143: Loquacious Lohart

"Dumbledore, you're tying yourself in knots!" Severus Snape was furious, banging on Dumbledore's desk.

"That Gellert Lohart is definitely a problem!" Snape stated with absolute certainty, "He can even perform Occlumency!"

"So can you," Dumbledore calmly responded.

"It's different!" Snape's anger grew more intense at Dumbledore's nonchalant attitude.

"Mastering Occlumency doesn't solve all problems in one go," Dumbledore said calmly, "I believe our Professor Lohart is a true Ravenclaw."

"A true Ravenclaw," Snape smirked sarcastically, "After all these years, you and I know the details of the four founders! You don't really think the legendary 'Raven's Claw' is someone who enjoys hanging out in the library, do you?"

The "Raven's Claw" was a metaphor for a greedy plunderer. However, Lady Ravenclaw plundered not wealth but knowledge. If you had the knowledge Lady Ravenclaw desired, you needed to be careful.

Dumbledore smiled, "The entire Hogwarts library is open to this Raven. The knowledge inside is enough for a lifetime of plunder."

Dumbledore had no worries about Lohart in the school, even if he might have done something unconventional.

"He also taught students the Killing Curse," Snape recalled another "crime" of Lohart, "Dumbledore, we should take action immediately and send him where he belongs!"

"Where does he belong?"

"Azkaban!"

Dumbledore laughed heartily, "Well, Severus, don't think too much. Teaching students about the Killing Curse and actually using it are two different things."

In the end, Snape left Dumbledore's office with large strides. He decided to closely monitor the suspicious Dark Arts Defense professor Lohart, just like he did with Quirrell last year. Snape also felt a bit frustrated: the Dark Arts Defense professors in the last two years were not reassuring, and he hoped the next professor would be a bit more reliable.

Snape didn't intend to entangle himself with Dumbledore on the issue of Lohart. He had more important things to do today: the recreation of the Wolfsbane Potion had reached a crucial stage, requiring a considerable amount of his attention.

The potion-making process this time went smoothly, just like the first attempt during the summer vacation. All the performances matched what was written in Damocles's published paper. However, the smoother it went, the more uneasy Snape felt.

Because inexplicably, Snape's first experiment in brewing the Wolfsbane Potion during the summer vacation had failed. This was already his third attempt, and Snape didn't want to try for the third time.

He had been pondering the reason but hadn't found the root cause yet. Snape had an intuition that success was just a little bit away, and if he could figure out the key, he might become the first magical alchemist to successfully replicate the Wolfsbane Potion.

He walked toward the dungeon without looking back. Since he had fulfilled his duty, Dumbledore now knew Lohart's true face. What Dumbledore did with Lohart next had nothing to do with him.

Tom sneezed.

"Who's talking about me?" he muttered, suddenly feeling confused.

He wondered if someone talking about a person behind their back could make that person sneeze. Was his sneeze just now because someone was talking about Tom, or was it about Lohart?

But he quickly dismissed this absurd idea. Instead of being confused by this, it was better to figure out how to learn the curse Voldemort had placed on his name. This curse was quite terrifying; once someone said the three words "Voldemort," it caused disturbances, allowing Death Eaters to successfully locate and, immediately after, Apparate to the location, capturing and eliminating opponents.

This curse was quite powerful, but there were still a few loopholes: Could this curse distinguish between a real human voice and a recording? If the resistance prepared a bunch of tape recorders, remotely playing the words "Voldemort," could it waste the Death Eaters' efforts? Moreover, turning the concept around, could everyone use this setup to counter-ambush the Death Eaters?

Learn to fight! Wizards in the British magical world lacked experience in battles.

Tom thought about it and got lost in his thoughts.

By now, his puppet, "Study Sister," had already completed a part of it.

The core of "Study Sister" was securely protected by armor, and the small cylinder resonating with the core was also enclosed in a handle-shaped shell. The handle was divided into two parts: the left half was a joystick that could control the direction of "Study Sister," and the right half consisted of three nested circles, each with seven slots. The central circle within those formed by the outer circles was divided into four equal parts.

Tom assigned the curses on "Study Sister" into seven major areas: both hands, both legs, torso, head, and armor. The first circle with seven slots corresponded to these seven regions. Then, for each area, he classified curses into three levels: normal, dangerous, and lethal, each followed by its counter-curse.

Of course, Professor Flitwick hardly added any lethal curses. After all, even during practical exams, examiners wouldn't let students attempt to break curses like the Killing Curse or the Cruciatus Curse. The "Shatterbones" curse was already pushing the limits—Tom wouldn't cast such curses even during class. Casting them could potentially shatter students into pieces.

Spells and counter-spells took up six slots, leaving the seventh slot for that four-part circle, which Tom had Professor Flitwick add to a one-handed sword.

[Achievement Reward: Alchemy Mastery Line Clue Two]

Tom suddenly remembered the achievement reward from the task of the "Wood Elf" earlier, also a clue about advancing his skill in alchemy. That item was in Egypt, capable of non-level blocking enhancement of alchemy, a veritable miracle.

These two clues each had an annotation and a poem. Both annotations told Tom what the artifact could do, and the second one revealed the identity of the artifact. The poems provided details about the specific location and the method of obtaining.

However, the content of the poems left Tom confused; he couldn't comprehend it immediately in his fatigued state. Even after working hard for the whole night, "Study Sister" was less than one-third complete. As dawn approached, he quickly rested for a while.

Under the same sky, different people were doing different things. However, one thing was common among all the people in this castle: they all had classes the next day.

Tom's highlight today was teaching sixth-year students Dark Arts Defense. The previous class was an opening exam, and this class would bring some substantial content.

Percy Weasley sat in his seat, waiting for Professor Lohart to arrive. Oliver Wood, Gryffindor Quidditch team's goalkeeper and captain, sat next to him.

Apart from them, there were only about ten students in the classroom. This was the current situation for higher-level classes: many students dropped out of several subjects after the fifth year. Other students either didn't meet the minimum passing score set by the professors or found out during career counseling in the fifth year that their future jobs didn't require certification in this subject.

Today, Professor Lohart, contrary to his usual habits, arrived five minutes early. Stepping into the classroom before the bell rang was also a rare event for Tom.

Today, the Professor Lohart Tom was portraying didn't come alone. He brought a massive package with him.

"All right, children," Tom addressed a group of students at least four years older than him with no psychological burden, "You must have recognized me, but I don't know you yet. So, before class today, let's take attendance. Students whose names are called, please come up to receive your materials."

With that, Tom took out a thick stack of parchment and a class register.

"Bryan Rocky!"

"Frans Beck!"

...

"Percy Weasley!"

The slender Percy stood up immediately, adjusted his glasses, and walked quickly to the front. Tom looked at this "traitor" from the Weasley family. He had the standard Weasley fiery red hair, a lean figure with long limbs, a relatively handsome face, and the robes he wore looked simple but were exceptionally clean and tidy.

"You're Molly's son, aren't you? She often mentions you in her letters," Tom revealed a warm smile. He didn't dislike this handsome young man, even though many people called him a traitor.

Percy bowed to Tom, or more accurately, to Professor Lohart. "Yes, Professor, that's my mother."

"She often praises you," Tom handed a stack of parchment to Percy, "I am a Ravenclaw student, and I always believe that knowledge changes destinies. I believe you can change your own destiny through hard work."

"Sometimes, the words of family members may not be pleasant to hear, but deep down, they still love you."

Percy took the parchment handed over by Tom, bowed even more respectfully, and then returned to his seat.
