Simon wanted to curse back, but a stern look from Adam shut him up immediately.
Harry, having parked the car, also came over. "Picking on women all the time, what kind of man are you?"
Ruby looked Simon up and down with utter contempt. "You might look like a man, but I'm afraid there's nothing else about you that's masculine."
The statement was not particularly hurtful, but it was massively insulting.
Simon was so furious he wished he could have swallowed Ruby alive. "Adam, you heard that. They're ganging up on me, and you can't be on their side."
Adam retorted, "Why are you, a grown man, arguing with a girl?"
Simon considered himself a real man, one who could bend and stretch. "Fine, I'll listen to you. What's the point of arguing with a young girl? An old sage once said that only petty men and women are hard to deal with. Why should I argue?"
Ruby snapped, "Who are you calling petty?"
