"It's beautiful."
"I've never seen anything like it before." Krillin and Gohan marveled at the planet in front of them. Seeing his home world in front of him was a big deal for Piccolo, too, as he couldn't seem to move. He just kind of stared at it in awe. Meanwhile, I didn't bother reacting at all. Everyone was so caught up in their own reactions, there wasn't any point in faking my own.
"Right on schedule!"
"Can you take us down, Bulma?" I asked.
"Yeah, of course. Strap in! Let's not have another Krillin incident." Bulma joked, causing Krillin to rub his head where he'd slammed it against the ladder and floor. Even though it wasn't his fault at all, none of us were going to let Krillin live that one down any time soon. Had the ship not been reinforced by ki, he'd have broken every single rung on the ladder with his head, after all.
"Hey, Gohan, Krillin, Hanna. Suppress your power levels as we land. I can sense something off down there, so we should be careful." Piccolo cautioned us. He was right. Even from here, we could sense Frieza's energy easily.
"Alright." Gohan nodded.
"You're right. That energy doesn't feel right to me, either." Krillin agreed.
With our energies suppressed, the landing was a little bumpy, but nobody got hurt, unlike our original takeoff.
"A Perfect landing! Am I the best, or am I the best?" Bulma declared, causing us to laugh. A moment later, she started talking about the atmosphere, and how she was going to check the oxygen levels, and how she'd brought spacesuits for us to wear because the planet probably wasn't fit for humans to survive on.
Naturally, we all ignored her. Piccolo breathed oxygen the same as humans, after all. If the planet wasn't suited for humans, it probably wouldn't be suited for Namekians either.
While she was blabbering on about the atmosphere, Krillin, Gohan, Piccolo and I exited the ship to look around. By the time that she realized that we weren't listening to her, we were already outside looking around.
"This place... except for the sky, it doesn't really look all that different from Earth." Gohan noted.
"Yeah, it does. But it's way too quiet." Krillin agreed, "It kinda gives me the creeps, you know?"
"You're right. But to me... it feels right. I don't recognize these lands... but I feel a connection to them. It's Namek, all right." Piccolo said, partially to assuage the two's concerns.
"WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING WALKING AROUND WITHOUT SUITS BEFORE I SAY IT'S OKAY?! YOU COULD HAVE DIED!" Bulma shouted at us after exiting the ship, "What if you'd have walked outside and there would've been no oxygen!?"
"Well freak out, why don't you?" Krillin muttered.
"I breathe oxygen too, Bulma." Piccolo told her, then in a whisper that only I could hear, he added "I think..." HE HONESTLY DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE BREATHES?!
"Still... All four of you are lucky. From now on, nobody moves until I say so." Bulma declared with a bit of resignation in her voice, taking the dragon radar out of her pocket to check it.
"Are they there?" Gohan asked.
"Yup! I've picked up four dragon balls close by." Bulma told him.
"That's great... but that's not really why we're here, Bulma." Piccolo reminded her. They were here to warn the Namekians about Vegeta and Nappa's imminent arrival. "We need to figure out what that powerful energy is." Piccolo told them.
"Yeah. I don't like that energy one bit. It's really strong." Krillin agreed.
"You guys are worrying about nothing. Piccolo's powerful. Isn't it only natural that his fellow people are as well? You're probably just sensing one of Piccolo's relatives while he's sitting at his house having dinner." Bulma reminded us. She was wrong, though.
"But..." Gohan started,
"This energy's different. It feels wrong." Krillin finished.
"Don't be silly. The only people around here are the local Namekians, and we were told that they were a peaceful race. They aren't a threat to the likes of you guys. Let's just go over there and say hi!" Bulma chided them, not being able to sense Frieza's evil energy herself.
"I think you're wrong, Bulma. Those aren't Namekians. I can feel it in my blood." Piccolo said.
Before Bulma was able to think of a comeback, a noise pulled everyone's attention. Two Saiyan space pods streaked through the sky. It was Vegeta and Nappa. They'd come to Namek.
"Uh!" All four of us looked up in fear (though mine was fake). We could all sense who were in those pods.
"Wh-what kind of ship is that?!" Bulma shouted, in denial of what she saw in front of her.
"It's a Saiyan ship. It looks like Vegeta and Nappa are here." Piccolo voiced what we were all just realizing.
"NO!!!" Bulma shouted in despair, a bright white streak striking right through her denial as the Saiyan pods crashed down in the distance.
"That's... just great!" Krillin shouted, clenching his fists. Vegeta and Nappa were clearly even stronger than they'd been on Earth. Even with all the training they'd done in the gravity chamber, they were only barely a match for Nappa. Vegeta was still technically far stronger than either Piccolo or myself, and that gap wasn't something that they believed that I could close with Grey mode. They were wrong, but it didn't really matter.
"This can't be happening! It's just a dream! It's just a dream!" Bulma shouted.
"We're lucky that Piccolo told us to mask our energy. Those two probably learned how to sense it by now." Krillin muttered, "Dang it!" He threw his hat on the ground in frustration. "Gah!"
"They must be here for the dragon balls." Gohan said. Krillin was trembling just at the mention of Vegeta. He hadn't even fought the guy, but he still remembered deep in his bones how terrifying a Saiyan's full powered rage could be from getting rag dolled by Gohan.
"We can't let him get to them. Let's gather them first and wish for Pigero and Yamcha back." Krillin decided, "At the worst case, all we have to do is keep the Dragon Balls out of their hands for a week or so until Goku and Raditz get here."
