With a flick of her wrist, she knocked the glass from his hand. It crashed to the floor, shattering, the sound echoing through the room like the breaking of her own inner composure.
Bright stepped back, startled by her sudden outburst, as Emma buried her face in her hands, the tears that she had been holding back now free to fall.
Her body shook with silent sobs and laughs, each heave a testament to the pain she felt inside—a pain for which there was no remedy.
