Shikera blinked, trying to clear out her blurry eyesight so she could see the expression on Chris' face right now. Was he being sarcastic in caring for her?

"Is this because of—"

Chris cut in, completing her words with what he thought she wanted to say.

"What I said earlier that made you leave home? I won't blame you if you think I'm saying this so you can think I'm sorry for my actions. You can think whatever you want, but answer me truthfully. Are you okay, Shikera?" he asked.

"I am," Shikera lied. The only person whom she really wanted to tell how she was feeling was Ethan, and not anyone else. Not even her father.

"Look Shikera, I'm well aware of how the doctors said pregnancy would affect you. Your father and husband are not here at the moment so if you think you might need a doctor, do not hesitate to ask."
