**Void Between Worlds**
The realm seemed to expand on and on forever, extending in nearly every direction. An endless darkness and light in equal measure. It is here that worlds are made through a combination of universal forces clashing amongst each other and the wills of powerful beings.
It is here where a gargantuan being that seemed to be made of pure light floated amongst the void, and as it raised its hand in an open palm, energy began to coalesce as both light and darkness were forced into being.
The amount of energy radiating off of the ritual could've been used to create an entire multiverse, yet here all of the energy of life and death combined. But what came of this was interesting.
Where once there was the clashing of stars and the crushing of newborn galaxies, there now was an orb of this liquid that seemed to radiate pure darkness, but not one of desolation or ruin—rather, of gentleness.
The radiant one looked at his creation with a smile on his face, and as he opened a portal beneath the floating ball of darkness, he simply let it drop, although he did wonder what was going to happen.
The being that radiated pure light, then began to walk through his own portal, almost starting to burst out into laughter, wondering what type of shenanigans his newest creation was going to get into.
**(??? POV)**
It's dark.
It's cold.
But it's so warm.
I wonder what is going on?
Did I do something wrong?
What am I?
Questions upon questions ran through the viscous ball's mind. All it could see was darkness in all directions. Yet it felt like it was being forced into a tube, although it did admit it was kind of fun. It felt like it was comparable to something else, but it didn't know what that was.
The being wondered if it would be able to get something to eat.
But before it could get an answer to that question, it felt itself drop onto some type of solid surface. The ground beneath it was rough and cold, yet it didn't feel a thing.
Excitement began to pour into the being as it wondered where it was exactly. The liquid then began to wiggle and shake as if trying to move itself. After a while, it formed into an almost gelatinous blob the size of a small baseball. The black goo then opened its radiant, yellow eyes and took in its surroundings.
As it looked out onto what it assumed was a giant hole in the wall, all it saw was a city in ruins. All it could hear was the rustling of the wind. It was so quiet, but not the good quiet.
The goo began to feel almost restless. It didn't feel good being here, yet before it could decide to do anything else, the ground near it began to shake. Soon enough, the blob began to lose its shape and form into its ball form as it began to roll along the ground. Thankfully, it didn't have to worry about getting motion sickness due to its metaphysical nature.
Soon enough, an almost gurgling laughter could be heard coming from the blob as it began to have fun rolling along the shaking ground. As it rolled along the floor and bounced off the walls, it eventually came to a large room bathed in sunlight.
The blob then heard what almost sounded like sounds in the form of letters. It could understand them, but it didn't understand the words themselves.
"What would you have me do?! I cannot face the X-Men, the Avengers, and the Defenders all at once, Pietro! She's too far gone; there's nothing to do. There's nothing to save!" said the man wearing the red helmet as he turned away from the man in what looked like green pajamas.
"Do something! Anything! Distract them, give us time. Give me time to get her away from here. She doesn't deserve this, Father…" the man in green pajamas slouched onto the ground.
The goo, feeling uncomfortable, began to roll along the floor towards the room where the man in the green pajamas came from. Soon enough, the blob seemingly hit the closed door and, due to its small size, wasn't able to reach the handholds to open it.
As the blob tried to reach towards the door handles, it slumped onto the ground, realizing that it wasn't big enough. The blob then began to roll in circles, trying to figure out what to do because it was so curious. It wanted to know what was behind the door.
Maybe it could find food behind the door? That singular thought reinvigorated the goo as it then figured out that it could just go under the door. As it squished its body onto the floor, it began to slowly crawl into the room under the doorframe.
As it did so, the goo failed to notice that someone else was in the room.
The person had taken notice of what was coming under the door yet seemed too out of sorts to even care. Her eyes were lost in an endless thousand-yard stare.
No words came from her mouth, and her lips were seemingly too dry to utter any words. She looked towards the window and out onto the ruins of what was once Genosha. It was her father's dream. Maybe it was her dream once; it was hard to notice anymore.
As she pondered these endless thoughts, the goo began to traverse the room, rolling itself along the floor. As it did so, it hit the corner of the large bed, and as it did, it popped back into its normal gelatinous form and looked up.
What the ball saw made him feel things that it didn't understand. It felt loss and pain. It didn't like that. So following its baser instincts, the blob climbed onto the bed and simply sat on the blanket, staring at the woman who had finally noticed its presence.
The two simply stared at each other, and as the blob leaned its head to the left, the woman did the same, and soon it turned its head to the right with the woman mirroring its movements.
It moved closer. The woman didn't react yet. As she tried to reach out, her hand stopped merely centimeters away from it.
"You shouldn't be here, you know? I could make you disappear any moment, or maybe you're just another fabrication? I wonder where my children are, you know. Do you know where they are?"
The blob didn't know what children were, so it shook its head sadly, and as the woman leaned back onto the bed, she placed a hand onto the blob, and as she did so, tears began to fall from her face.
The blob, seeing her distress, moved closer to her, and as it hugged her side, she placed her hands around the small being and lifted it up to her face, where the blob used itself to hug the taller woman.
The woman simply leaned into the embrace, and she felt so much. She felt happiness, she felt sadness, but mostly, for now, she felt regret.
"What have I done…" Four simple words, yet as she hugged the blob, the memories began to form in her broken mind, and she began to sob and sob.
The woman cried for what seemed like hours, yet the blob simply hugged her as it felt right. The woman then began to slowly pet the blob, and as it purred and cooed like a child, the crying soon began to cease.
Yet even after the crying ended, the woman simply held the blob tighter as if afraid to let it go.
"Can you stay with me? I'm scared." The woman's question didn't seem to register with the blob, as it couldn't understand what she was scared of. Maybe she was afraid of going hungry?
The blob simply nodded and formed a childlike smile on its body, to which the woman began to laugh. It was so full of life, so different from what she was like a couple of minutes ago. Tears ran from her eyes, but these were of happiness instead of sadness.
The gelatinous ooze was very confused, but hugging felt nice, so it was going to keep doing that. Then its objective was to find food.
For now, though, it had to keep hugging. And as it did so, the ooze then felt something—something disgusting—and as it focused its attention on that disgusting thing, it began to recede.
But for a second there, it almost sounded like something was screaming in pain. But the blob was unbothered by this as it had a person to hug.
Sadly, the tender moment was cut short as a knock at the door was heard.
"Sister, can I come in?" The question was heard by the two, yet they were somewhat lost in the moment. After not hearing an answer for a few minutes, the man on the other side walked into the room.
"Wanda, I have some food for you—Wanda, what the fuck is that?!" The man's question was met with the woman's glare.
"To be honest, Pietro, I don't know. It just kinda rolled in here, but can you please be quiet? It's trying to sleep." The dumbfounded speedster was quite literally slowed to a stop as he looked at the gelatinous ooze that was hugging his sister's head.
"Wanda, where did that thing come from?"
"It came from under the door while you and Father were arguing. To be honest, I haven't felt better." Pietro, after hearing the last part, smiled in relief.
"So, how are you feeling?"
"Honestly, I'm feeling terrible, but at least I'm not threatening to destroy reality at this point." Pietro almost chuckled at the absurdity of the statement.
"It's OK, Wanda. You weren't yourself—"
"It is my fault, Pietro. They were my powers, my magic. I was so angry, brother. I wanted to see my children, but they won't let me. But now I realize something." The woman's eyes remained purely on the blob as she continued to pet the sleeping being.
"They were never real. I wanted them so badly to be real. I'm so sorry." Before the woman could begin to cry again, and before her brother could say anything, the small creature then looked up into her eyes, and as the radiant yellow met her red eyes, the being wiped some of the tears away and smiled, completely content.
Wanda then held the small creature closely as if afraid it would disappear, while Pietro looked down in disappointment—not in his sister, but in himself.
In a couple of seconds, however, the speedster was already next to his sister, hugging her. As his hand brushed the small blob, he felt the small bit of happiness. He was satisfied that his sister was doing better, but this wasn't the problem.
"Wanda, you know they're coming, right?" The Scarlet Witch nodded.
"I do. They're here to kill me. I can understand that." Pietro felt angered at the statement his sister just said, but before he could say anything else, Wanda placed a finger on his lips.
"You don't have to say anything, brother. I know what you want me to do, and I don't think I can do it. But is it too much to ask for more time? Can you stall them for me, brother?" A resolute stare was met at the question as Pietro looked at his sister, more determined than ever.
In milliseconds, the man was gone in a blur of silver and green. As the woman watched, she again looked down to the blob and asked, "Why are you here?"
The blob just tilted its head in a confused manner as it thought that hugs solved everything.
"I assume you can't talk?" The blob nodded.
The woman, then using her magic, conjured a small bit of paper as well as a pen.
"Well, if you can't speak to me, do you know how to write?" Surprisingly, the dark ooze knew it could communicate through writing, even though it wondered how it could do that.
But as it tried to reach for the pen, the pen flew out of reach, which caused the ooze to fall out of the woman's hands and onto the bed. The woman nearly had a heart attack as she reached down to grab the blob.
"I'm so sorry. I thought that you could reach the pen, so I moved it away. I'm so sorry." The blob, however, just looked up at her and began to giggle as it climbed to the top of her head and fell onto the bed as if playing a game.
The woman, seeing the gelatinous creature playing its game, just huffed in amusement.
Soon enough, she grabbed the ooze from the top of her head before it could drop on the floor and let it grab the pen.
"So, do you have a name?" The ooze shook its head.
"Well, how about we give you one?" In response to the question, the blob seemed almost excited as it bounced around the room.
Soon enough, it settled down before it got into a thinking position. The look on its face was rather humorous as Wanda began to laugh again. In a couple of moments, smoke began to pour out of the blob's ears, and it then fell over from thinking too hard.
Wanda's laughter continued as she saw her new friend short-circuit.
"OK, how about this? What if I name you? Would that be all right?" The ooze nodded as it wrote.
"By the way, what is a name? Can you eat it?" The question was met by a bewildered silence.
"No, you can't eat a name, at least I don't think you can. But if you ever think you can, show me. It would be interesting to see." The blob gave a small salute as Wanda's smile returned to her face.
She held the creature closely as she tried to ignore the growing number of presences in the distance.
For now, she had to enjoy her time with the seemingly little tickled monster.
*(Well, another day, another snippet. This one was inspired by SCP 999 and a small YouTube video. It's essentially just the small blob wanting to give hugs and eat bubblegum—not in that order. Yes our main character's intellect seems a bit juvenile please take it into consideration that it was just born a couple of seconds ago. This story is probably going to be the most disconnected out of them all, so treat it as non-seriously as you can.)*
