As the princess was telling the prince what was happening, the white wolf was moving around the mansion as if on a mission. It was doing nothing suspicious by any means but whomever the wolf looked at got the creeps from it as though it was the reaper watching them.
For hours, the wolf moved around and then it suddenly stopped moving when it got to the basement.
It quickly hid itself on top of the door casing and with its small size, it became almost impossible to spot when one was entering the basement. This basement was used for weapon storage and it had only been left open due to war preparations, there wasn't enough manpower to man a simple storage basement that only stored weapons of no use to high-level cultivators.
The wolf sat on the casing looking down with a demonic intent in its yellow eyes.
An hour went by and not a single soul had come into the storage basement. When the wolf was about to give up on the location and move to another, a chubby-looking middle-aged man in black robes entered the basement.
The wolf with its claws already itching jumped off the casing landing on the chubby man. Its sharp claws pierced into the man's shoulder blades causing the man to let out a shriek of pain. The wolf had rehearsed the attack in its head many times and it knew that it would have one chance and one chance only. It swiftly brought its open mouth down onto the man's neck and bit down with all its might. Its canines tore into the man tearing his carotid artery to shreds.
The chubby man started grabbing at the wolf trying to pull it away. Fresh hot blood poured into the wolf's mouth and to make the man pass out quickly, the wolf sucked and swallowed the blood making its throat bob up and down.
This man was a cultivator in the sixth stage of the first realm of cultivation making his take down very difficult on the wolf. The man kicked the ground and jumped into the air a fit no one would expect from a man his size. The chubby man fell back to the floor squashing the wolf between him and the floor and the impact created a sickening sound of bones breaking.
The wolf let out a snarl of pain but it did not let go of the thick fat neck. Out of anger, the wolf bit down harder and sucked the blood out of the chubby man.
The two rolled around on the ground for a few minutes before the man passed out. The wolf wanted him alive for what it wanted to do.
The wolf quickly got up but fell back to the ground due to pain from its broken ribs.
It instead crawled to the door and closed it with a push. The door automatically locked itself making it so that anyone entering would need the key.
It then crawled back to the man who had a few minutes to live and this was only due to his sixth stage cultivation.
The wolf put its front legs on the man's chest and promptly started circulating its cultivation technique. Nothing happened for a few seconds but then, a red energy began leaving the man's body and flowed into the white wolf. Instantly, the wolf felt its wounds mend themselves with bones snapping back into place. Its wounds healed quickly and then the energy moved into its source core before disappearing like smoke on a windy day. The wolf did not mind this as it knew that this would happen due to its low level of talent.
When the white wolf was creating its cultivation technique, it made sure to tackle the biggest problem of all, its low-level talent. Even if it had created the perfect technique, it would have become stuck at a low stage of cultivation making its effort useless.
When the red energy stopped flowing out of the man, the wolf did not stop circulating its technique. The man had lost half his body weight but the wolf continued with its cold yellow eyes. Soon, white energy flowed from the man and entered the wolf, this time, the wolf felt its cultivation rapidly rising. It broke through from the first stage of the first realm of cultivation to the sixth stage in one go. This was a miracle for the ages. The wolf also knew that cultivation takes time, time its heart of vengeance would not permit. For instance, what if the wolf slowly cultivated until it was powerful enough to take its vengeance only to find that its enemies were long dead or even more realistically it found that their cultivation had reached even greater heights. It's not like its enemies would pause their cultivation and wait for it to catch up. The solution became simple, the wolf saw that talent can be stolen in a manner of speaking, so why not cultivation . This was the reason why with its great intellect, the wolf had taken years to come up with a cultivation technique to begin cultivation.
