Capítulo 37: Chapter 37 :I just like girls like you!

Kahn's anger flared upon hearing Sengoku's words.

"Sengoku, tell those old men to shut up about influence for once! It's always about influence! How many shady things has the World Government done over the years in the name of influence?!" Kahn's voice boomed in frustration.

"Kahn, you need to watch your language as well. Remember your position. This matter is complex; I need to report to my superiors. First, you must control Crocodile."

Both of them were visibly frustrated.

But the outburst was short-lived, and they swiftly collected themselves.

"Alright, Sengoku, don't take this matter too seriously. It's just a Warlord; he can't change the world," Kahn added, attempting to ease the tension.

"It's not as simple as you think. But if your information is accurate, then Crocodile is in big trouble. I'll report this to my superiors now," Sengoku responded, his tone still holding a hint of irritation.

The heated argument earlier wasn't solely due to Crocodile's actions. Sengoku had yelled because he felt that Kahn's words were dangerous.

Indeed, the issue of a Warlord committing such deeds was a significant headache for the World Government. The Shichibukai system was designed to maintain balance, and such a disruption could be a serious problem.

"Understood. If that's all, I'll hang up."

"Fine."

And with that, they both ended the call.

Kahn glanced at his Den Den Mushi and let out a cynical chuckle.

Sengoku was predictable in this regard, but Kahn could comprehend the reasons behind his emotions. After all, Sengoku had occupied Fleet Admiral position.

It was simply a matter of being a good Admiral.

He realized he had allowed his emotions to run high in the conversation. He would have to be more mindful of this in the future.

Meanwhile, Crocodile, whose aura had diminished, glared at Kahn with a mix of contempt and defiance.

"What kind of look are you giving me?" Kahn mocked, and once more stepped on Crocodile.

This time, it wasn't just his chest; it was his head.

The willpower of the strong in this world was formidable. While Kahn could easily kill Crocodile, he had a more lingering fate in store for him.

Crocodile couldn't endure the pain any longer and lost consciousness once again.

Kahn stared down at him, his killing intent palpable.

However, the intense aura gradually subsided.

"What else do you have to say? Nicole Robin?"

"I'm curious about your character. As a Vice Admiral, you seem to despise the World Government so much. Someone like you shouldn't be unknown on the seas."

"Oh, really? Digging into an old man's past can be quite risky."

Robin found herself suddenly intrigued by Kahn.

"Of course, I don't mind telling you. For a small fee, say 100 million Berries, I'd be happy to regale you with my life's heroic tales."

Kahn grinned as if he had struck a great deal.

Robin, however, appeared flabbergasted.

Finally, she shook her head. "No, thank you."

"Very well, then. It's your loss. My tales are quite something," Kahn sighed theatrically.

Robin could only let out a faint smile. She found herself at a loss for words in the face of Kahn's ever-changing character.

"By the way, is Mr. 1 dead?" Kahn abruptly inquired.

Robin was taken aback, finding Kahn's line of thought a bit erratic.

His demeanor had gone from denouncing the World Government's sense of justice for Alabasta to displaying a money-hungry, avaricious side.

The sudden shift left Robin bewildered, with a stark contrast between his previous and current behavior.

"Just a moment ago, you were standing up for justice and the nation's citizens, yet now you're a greedy Navy officer. Your change in behavior is astounding."

Robin's voice was tinged with both amusement and surprise.

"Answer the question, please!" Kahn's impatience grew.

Robin was unsure of where this conversation was heading.

"Why the sudden change?"

Kahn's expression remained unfazed.

"I won't consider myself your subordinate."

Robin's compliance only seemed to stoke Kahn's satisfaction.

"I'm wondering what comes next. What's your plan?"

Kahn turned his attention back to her.

"Next, Miss Robin, I hope you wouldn't mind leading me to this treasure trove of this trash crocodile."

"Am I allowed to say that I mind?"

"Of course, but I won't agree."

"Your Excellency, Lieutenant General, kindly follow me."

"Excellent, you have wit. I rather like that in a girl," Kahn remarked, a pleased smile on his face.

With that, Robin turned and began leading the way. She was beginning to form a general understanding of Kahn's character.

Kahn followed her, and soon they reached a massive vault in the basement.

"I don't know the password," Robin admitted.

Kahn observed the vault before him.

"No worries, I don't need a password."

Advancing towards the vault, Kahn's right hand morphed into a dragon claw in Robin's astonished eyes.

The vault, constructed from sturdy steel, seemed to crumble like paper under Kahn's touch. It was broken open in an instant.

Inside the vault, Kahn found a sight that made him grin.

The space was almost overflowing with currency, with a few valuables mixed in.

Kahn quickly estimated that the total value was around 5 billion Berries.

The reason Crocodile had mentioned 5 billion Berries initially became clear.

The rest of the funds, approximately 8 billion Berries, were likely stored elsewhere and required raising.

This also explained how Mr. 1 had been able to amass 2 billion Berries so quickly.

Being a pirate was indeed a lucrative business.

Without hesitation, Kahn began collecting the treasures.

After surveying the scene, he turned his gaze back to Robin.

Seeing her staring at him, he inquired, "Why are you looking at me? I assume this isn't all the treasure. Could you fill me in on the specifics?"

Robin averted her gaze, smart enough to recognize his intentions.

"This is only one of the vaults. The rest are scattered across various bases. The total worth of the entire Baroque Works is around 15 billion Berries, including all of its Alabasta properties."

"Tell me, how much can I take away?"

"Approximately 3 billion Berries."

"So, there's around 7 billion Berries in fixed assets?"

"No, only 5 billion."

Kahn furrowed his brow.

"Two billion Berries were already extracted this morning."

Kahn immediately grasped the situation.

"Very well then. Please accompany me," Kahn said.

Robin was taken aback once more.

"Is something the matter?"

"No."

"Excellent."

Kahn regarded Robin approvingly. Her intelligence impressed him, and he found her to be a refreshing conversationalist.
