Capítulo 17: Chapter 17: Waiting for him with trepidation
Evelyn Sherman looked at Anna Rivers standing in front of her, completely losing her patience, and shook off her hand and walked out.
"Evelyn Sherman, you won't be proud for long, Mr. Chester won't let you off easily..."
Anna Rivers' yelling could still be heard from afar, echoing in Evelyn's ears.
She stood on the side of the road, waiting for a taxi, her eyes slightly darkening.
Her fingers dug deep into her palm...
There was no need for Anna Rivers to tell her, she knew well that Chester Yale would never let her go.
She had been out all day, and if Chester came home and didn't see her, with his weird temper, there was no way he would let her off...
When the taxi stopped outside the villa gate, Evelyn couldn't help but glance at her wristwatch.

Upon seeing the bright lights of the living room, her heart started racing.
Just the thought of Chester Yale being inside made her so nervous that she could hardly take a step.
When she finally struggled to enter the living room, she found it empty...
Not only was her room empty, but the entire floor seemed vacant.
Had Chester not come back yet?
Evelyn stood at the entrance, unable to describe her feelings.
She sighed in relief, but somehow felt a little disappointed...
She hesitated for a while, then shut the room door, found the kitchen, fetched some food ingredients from the fridge, simply cooked a bowl of noodles for herself, and happily sat down to eat in the dining room.
After being hungry all day, she was starving.
Within minutes, she finished the bowl of noodles and licked her lips contentedly.
She quickly cleaned up and went up to the second floor, hiding in her room.
Only after locking the door did she feel secure enough to take her pajamas from her luggage and enter the bathroom.
She lingered until eleven o'clock, and still, the villa remained silent.
Evelyn hugged her computer and edited her manuscript until she was sleepy, but she didn't dare sleep without seeing Chester...
Time ticked by.
She came out of the room and saw the empty corridor, with the cold furnishings in the main room flashing through her mind.
She let out an imperceptible sigh.
Why did she now feel that she was being kept in captivity, waiting for the favors of a tycoon?
Evelyn bit her lip, her heart feeling suffocated.
Looking at the starry night outside the window, she hugged her quilt, but couldn't sleep.

Outside the villa gate.
A black luxury car had been parked there for over an hour.
"Mr. Chester, Miss Sherman moved here on her own this morning and was settled in the guest room according to your instructions. The Butler just reported that Miss Sherman left the villa after putting down her luggage and didn't come back until 8 PM."
The assistant respectfully looked back at the man pretend-sleeping in the back seat.
His tall frame leaned back, one hand supporting his head, his enchanting face slightly tilted, exuding a porcelain-like glow in the dark night.
Hearing the assistant's words, he slightly lifted his eyelids.
His eyes were clear, without a trace of drowsiness.
His voice cold, "Where did she go?"
"First Hospital," the assistant reported all the information he had gathered, "Miss Sherman's parents had a car accident four years ago, both becoming vegetative persons. The culprits escaped, leaving the Sherman family without a pillar. Their company soon declared bankruptcy, and even their family property was divided by relatives."

Chester Yale's dark eyes flickered, a hint of coldness flashing past his eyes.
It turned out that not long after he left, her family had experienced such turmoil.
