Chapter 13: The First Encounter in Harville Temple
Just like his expression, the tone of his words was light and indifferent, without intentional sarcasm or ridicule. However, it was precisely this way that struck people's hearts the most.
Because it was exactly what he thought, expressing the literal meaning with no other purpose.
Evelyn Thompson secretly sighed and tried to figure out how to salvage her son's image. She turned her head and saw Chloe Collins' even more nonchalant expression, as if she didn't even hear her son's words.
Wouldn't ordinary girls feel embarrassed or uncomfortable hearing those words?
The atmosphere turned strangely quiet. Evelyn quickly spoke up to break the awkwardness: "This child, he's talking nonsense, Chlo-Chlo, don't listen to him. All he has in his eyes is his work. Come, Aunt Evelyn will show you your room."
Chloe Collins nodded gracefully, smiling just right.
As she turned around, a glint of light in the corner of her eye swept past the tall figure behind her, the intrigue in the depths of her eyes becoming more intense.
Robert Foster's gaze followed the girl until she walked up the staircase, and couldn't help but shake his brother's arm, "Hey, Bro, did you see the way Chloe Collins looked at you? It seems like she's mocking you. She doesn't seem to think highly of you."
"Bro, say something! Is it your first time being despised by a girl and you're not even angry?"
Alex gave him a faint glance: "Are you free? Did you finish your homework?"
Robert's face changed as he let out a playful laugh: "Bro, let's talk about the homework later. First, let's discuss buying a car ..."
"No chance."
He coldly and ruthlessly interrupted his words, walked through the courtyard path, and went to the building next door.
This building was usually used as his study, so Robert didn't follow, and continued to pester his father about buying a car.
As Alexander entered the courtyard gate, a middle-aged man greeted him with a slight bow, "Second Young Master."
This man was Alex's personal driver, Ford, who had been with him since elementary school, similar to a personal butler.
At 9:40 PM, Alex finished a video conference.
Ford handed him hot tea, respectfully saying, "Today, the eldest young master went to report to the master. He said the initial plan for Redolence's new quarter products has been set, and the master is very pleased."
Alex put down the teacup. There was no emotional fluctuation in his clear and elegant eyes: "Just let him go. What about the third brother?"
"Third young master is also in a hurry to find a perfumer, he's still in France."
Without receiving a response from Alexander, Ford took a closer look and found that he was staring at a series of numbers on his phone.
"Second young master, this number is?"
Alex replied, "Miles White's assistant's contact information."
Ford's face lit up: "With Miles White's help, young master's success in taking over Redolence is just around the corner."
Alex said, "Didn't you recognize the owner of this number?"
Upon hearing this, Ford put away his smile and took a closer look at the number. His face suddenly froze. "Is this, isn't this the number Master gave you last night, saying it was Miss Chloe's contact information? So, Miss Chloe is Miles White's assistant?!"
Alex put down his phone, his gaze looking out the window, "I saw her at the auction tonight, her move was extraordinary."
Ford said, "Miss Chloe is Joy Taylor's daughter. Even if she was raised in Harville Temple for more than a decade, Joy would never let her truly be isolated from the world. So in these years, she must have introduced all her connections to Miss Chloe. And since Joy herself likes blending fragrances and often gathers with talented people in the industry, it's indeed possible that Miss Chloe met Miles White."
Alex raised his eyes, his deep black pupils calm and steady, "You actually know quite a lot."
Ford bowed his head and chuckled, "Joy is close with the master. I only learned about her affairs while running errands for the master.", he thought for a moment and continued, "In fact, young master, there's something I haven't mentioned to you."
"Speak."
Ford said softly, "During the period when you stayed in Harville Temple for recuperation six years ago, there was a child who sent us freshly boiled herbal medicine every day, a very beautiful girl."
Upon hearing this, Alex already understood his meaning.
In his usually calm eyes, a slight ripple emerged.
In a trance, a tender female voice from six years ago brushed past his ears, clear and cold, the only interesting voice during those dull and dark days.
"Are you sure it's her?"
Ford nodded, "Yes, I've never seen anyone as beautiful as her in my several decades of life. It's definitely Miss Chloe."
This conversation somehow made its way through the barriers and straight into the bathroom of a room in the building next door.
Chloe Collins, who was showering, opened her eyes. In her gorgeous eyes, a playful smile rippled.
