Capítulo 55: Surprise! I Ain't Dead.

When writing this story and having the plot In my mind, I knew, the true story for most people would be after Shibuya. Or during it, simply because most people have a 2-second attention span, Generation Z's who can't like slow-paced stuff.

As Yuji Itadori charged towards Mahito, the curse's instincts kicked in. Mahito, recognizing the danger of a confrontation with Yuji—even in his normal state—transformed his arms into large, bird-like wings and took flight, retreating to avoid the close-quarters battle.

Without hesitation, Mahito's form morphed into a massive, spiked ball that began to hurl spikes in all directions. Yuji's anger was focused solely on Mahito, yet his trained instincts kicked in. He assessed the situation rapidly: "He's playing the range game, so I need to close the distance and end it quickly."

Yuji stopped using cursed energy to keep himself afloat on the lake, allowing himself to sink beneath the surface. Mahito, his eyes scanning the water for any sign of Yuji, remained unaware of the shadow creeping up from below. He focused intently on defending himself from any possible underwater attack.

Suddenly, Yuji emerged from the water and sprinted up the cliff, preparing to surprise Mahito from above. His fists came crashing down in a double slam, but Mahito was quick to react, bracing himself and blocking the powerful blow. The force of the impact caused both combatants to tumble back into the lake, sinking below the surface.

The underwater battle that ensued was fierce and chaotic. Yuji and Mahito engaged in a brutal fistfight, each blow echoing through the murky depths. Mahito's twisted grin never wavered as he reveled in the struggle. "Ah, Yuji Itadori," Mahito mused, his voice bubbling through the water. "You're truly my nemesis. Your death will be a testament to my growth as a curse!"

Above the water, the wreckage of Ultimate Mechamaru: Absolute lay scattered. Kokichi Muta, still inside the battered cockpit, stared at the spot where Yuji and Mahito had disappeared. His mind raced as he recalled Yuji's identity as Sukuna's vessel from their time at Jujutsu Tech. He marveled at how someone with only a few months of experience in jujutsu could become powerful enough to challenge a Special Grade curse on their own.

Kokichi's gaze shifted to Geto, who was calmly observing the battle. Geto's casual wave toward Kokichi puzzled him. "Why is Geto just watching? And why isn't he helping Mahito or finishing me off?" Kokichi wondered aloud, confusion was evident on his face.

Determined to act, Kokichi decided his best chance was to escape. He sprinted away from the wreckage, calculating the distance needed to make a call. His priority was to reach a cell signal and contact Gojo Satoru, hoping to stop or at least provide assistance to Yuji Itadori in the ongoing battle.

...

Mahito's ability to fight underwater and breathe through fish-like gills gave him a significant advantage. As Yuji struggled to keep up, Mahito enlarged his fist and delivered a powerful blow that sent Yuji soaring out of the lake. Yuji crashed onto dry land, coughing up water as he struggled to regain his footing.

Before he could fully recover, Mahito loomed above him, preparing to deliver another devastating strike. Yuji's eyes, filled with an intense, grim determination, locked onto Mahito. He knew this was his chance for close combat—dry land, an overwhelming desire to kill, and the chance to end this fight on his terms.

Mahito's giant fist slammed down, but Yuji managed to block the attack. The ground cracked beneath the force of the impact, and with a fierce shoulder check, Yuji sent Mahito crashing into a nearby tree. Without missing a beat, Yuji followed up with a powerful kick to Mahito's stomach. The impact was brutal, and Mahito's smile twisted into a grimace as blood spilled from his mouth. Yuji's leg, however, had been pierced by Mahito's spikes, and despite the pain, he tore them out, his expression unchanging.

Mahito's grin returned as he healed himself, seemingly unaffected by the damage Yuji had inflicted. Yuji, with his expression as cold as ever, dashed forward, aiming a punch directly at Mahito's chest. But Mahito was ready; he created a hole in his chest that trapped Yuji's arm within it.

"Did you really think it would be that easy?" Mahito taunted, his voice laced with cruel amusement. He began to prepare a trap specifically designed for Yuji.

From his cursed technique, Mahito conjured a transfigured human—a child, with a soul still trapped in the form. The child's eyes were wide with terror and pain, the sense of self and agony still intact. The transfigured child's cries pierced the air, a haunting sound meant to torment Yuji.

"Listen to it," Mahito sneered, watching Yuji's reaction. "This is the kind of pain you've caused. This is what you're fighting for. Isn't it just deliciously ironic?"

Yuji's eyes widened with horror as he heard the child's cries, his heart racing with a mix of anger and desperation. He fought against the trap, his mind screaming to block out the sound and focus on Mahito. The contrast between Mahito's sadistic enjoyment and Yuji's righteous fury only intensified the battle.

"This is what you wanted, right?" Mahito continued, his voice dripping with malice. "To save people? To fight curses? How will you feel knowing that this child's suffering is a result of your choices?"

"Come on, Yuji! Fight Me! Aren't you a jujutsu sorcerer?!" Mahito knew what he doing, Yuji could kill the other transfigured humans but this one was different, it was made to stir up emotion. It couldn't even fight back, this was made as a pure morality trap.

As Yuji grappled with the horrifying sight of the transfigured human, his resolve momentarily wavered. Mahito seized the opportunity, driving his knee into Yuji's gut with brutal force. The spike extending from Mahito's knee pierced Yuji's abdomen, causing him to gasp in pain. Mahito's laughter echoed around them, mingling with the screams of the transfigured child.

"Why so hesitant, Yuji?" Mahito taunted, his voice dripping with contempt. "Is this the morality you cling to so tightly? A simple trick and you falter. Pathetic."

Yuji gritted his teeth, fighting through the agony. His gaze remained locked on Mahito, even as the pain made it difficult to think clearly. With a surge of determination, Yuji grabbed Mahito's ankle and used a swift sweep kick to temporarily immobilize him in mid-air.

The momentary pause gave Yuji the chance he needed. Positioning himself with precision, Yuji launched a flurry of punches, each strike coming faster than the last. His punches became a blur of motion, fueled by an intense rage and the sheer will to end this battle.

With each impact, Yuji's focus narrowed, and his anger channeled into each blow. His final punch was charged with all the power he could muster, and with a sickeningly satisfying crack, he broke Mahito's ribs. The force of the punch sent Mahito flying backward, crashing into the nearby trees and skidding to a halt on the ground.

The two combatants slowly rose, their eyes meeting once again. Despite the mutual hatred that burned between them, there was an unspoken acknowledgment of the fierce battle they had engaged in. "Bleh~ Seems someone isn't quite accepting death, what a shame, she's quite nice."

Yuji stood, his breathing heavy and ragged but his resolve unshaken. Mahito, though wounded, managed to push himself up, his smile widening despite the pain. The battle between them had become more than just a fight; it was a deadly dance where each movement was driven by a profound desire to conquer and destroy.

"You're not the only one who enjoys this, Yuji," Mahito said, his voice strained but still filled with a twisted glee. "It's been a long time since I've had such a… thrilling opponent."

Yuji's expression hardened, his gaze never leaving Mahito. Unlike the beat of liberation, all Yuji could think and hear was the cracks and tears Mahito went, everywhere he went. He had to die.
