Capítulo 803: Petal

After Momiji conceded, Venusaur's Frenzy Plant instantly retreated into the ground, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

As soon as the match ended, the onlooking trainers crowded around, showering Yuga with praise. They were so effusive in their compliments that Yuga felt embarrassed.

"Alright, alright, don't you all have training to do? You're all strong enough? Instead of hanging around here, why don't you go train! Scatter!" Momiji scolded her cheering subordinates.

With their boss's command, these people dared not approach any further and sheepishly withdrew.

Once her subordinates had left, Momiji patted Yuga on the back and said, "Come on, I'll take you to the infirmary to treat your injured Pokémon."

On the way to the infirmary, Momiji couldn't help but praise Yuga. "You're really impressive. You don't look very old, but your strength is off the charts."

Listening to Momiji's words, Yuga was left speechless. Just moments ago, he had driven away her subordinates who were praising him excessively, and now she was doing the same.

Although he thought this, Yuga modestly replied, "You're too kind, really."

"I'm not exaggerating. Strong is strong. Who knows, maybe in a few years, you'll be able to vie for one of the League's Elite Four titles," Momiji said, even though in her heart, she believed that becoming an Elite Four wasn't as easy as simply having the strength. After all, those titles were hard-earned.

But even if Yuga couldn't become an Elite Four, with his current strength and potential, he would be treated well wherever he went. He was certainly worth getting to know and having on one's side.

Hearing Momiji's words, Yuga was momentarily stunned. He had never considered becoming one of the League's Elite Fours. Protecting the Day Care and being a Gym Leader was already satisfying enough for him.

His initial decision to become a Gym Leader was rooted in his desire to help the Day Care grow, rather than pursuing personal glory. He had been reluctant to compete for the position of Gym Leader in the first place.

Inside the infirmary within the aircraft, Yuga was introduced to the person in charge, a female Pokémon doctor named Petal. She wore a long white coat and had chestnut-colored hair that formed a long braid trailing down her back. She also wore large black-framed glasses.

Because of the glasses, Yuga couldn't see Petal's full face, but he could tell that she was likely a beautiful woman, albeit dressed somewhat casually, unlike the more refined Momiji.

According to Momiji's introduction, both Petal and his father were Pokémon doctors at the Aroma Day Care, and they had been close friends since childhood.

"Give me your Pokémon," Petal said coolly.

After Yuga and Momiji were led into the infirmary, Petal began operating a complex set of machines that Yuga couldn't comprehend.

Compared to the enthusiastic Momiji, Petal had a rather cold demeanor, giving off the impression of a dedicated Pokémon Scientist, even though she was a Pokémon doctor.

"That's just her personality, don't mind her," Momiji whispered to Yuga, leaning closer.

However, Petal's hearing was sharp, and she turned to give Momiji a look—Yuga couldn't see clearly as she was wearing glasses.

Being stared at by Petal, Momiji didn't seem to mind and instead changed the topic with a cheerful smile. It was clear that their relationship was quite good.

Petal's Pokémon assistants included a Clefable, a Comfey, and a Roserade.

Seeing these three Pokémon, Yuga couldn't help but activate his Insight ability.

Among these three Pokémon, Clefable could use Heal Pulse and Wish, Comfey could use Aromatherapy, Grassy Terrain, and Heal Bell, and Roserade could use Aromatherapy as well. They were all excellent support Pokémon.

From these three Pokémon, it was clear that Petal specialized in treating and healing Pokémon.

Petal's Clefable carried a round tray over to Yuga and Momiji. After Momiji placed her Poké Balls on the tray, Yuga also placed the Poké Balls of Breloom and Torterra.

In reality, Yuga could have healed Breloom and Torterra's minor injuries with his special abilities, and if needed, Florges could help too. However, since Petal was willing to use more advanced equipment to assist, Yuga didn't want to refuse.

The equipment in Petal's infirmary was extremely advanced. While Yuga wasn't a specialist in this field, he had spent some time with Joyka and had developed some discerning skills.

Petal's treatment of the Pokémon was swift. She didn't use her assistant Pokémon, instead operating the machinery beneath her hands. Holographic projections of Pokémon occasionally appeared before her, but Yuga couldn't decipher what they meant.

Momiji's Pokémon were quickly treated, and then it was Yuga's Breloom and Torterra's turn.

While treating Torterra, a holographic projection of Torterra appeared before Petal, and she began making adjustments.

Just when Yuga thought the treatment was about to finish, he heard Petal muttering under her breath, "Strange, strange..."

"What's wrong, Dr. Petal? Is there something wrong with my Torterra?" Yuga suddenly felt nervous. Could there be something wrong with his Torterra?

However, it seemed like Petal hadn't heard Yuga's voice. She continued to mutter, "Strange, Torterra isn't like this... not like this... strange..."

As she continued muttering, her hands didn't stop moving; her nimble fingers rapidly tapped the holographic screen.

In the end, Momiji couldn't bear it any longer and shouted at Petal, "Petal, Mr. Shimizu is trying to talk to you!"

Petal, who had been deeply focused, finally snapped out of it when she was shouted at by Momiji. She apologized to Yuga somewhat nervously, "I'm... I'm sorry."

Yuga understood that Petal hadn't done it intentionally; he was only concerned about his Torterra now.

"Dr. Petal, is there something wrong with my Torterra?"

"Yes, there is an issue. There's something very unusual about the tree on its back. The tree on a Torterra's back shouldn't look like this."

Just as she said this one sentence to Yuga, Petal went back to her muttering. She didn't look directly at Yuga while speaking; it was more like she was talking to herself.

Being a Grass-type Day Care, Aroma Day Care had extensive knowledge of Grass-type Pokémon, and as the exclusive Pokémon doctor of Aroma Day Care, Petal was particularly knowledgeable about Grass-type Pokémon, including the famous Sinnoh starters—the Turtwig evolutionary line.

So, Petal easily noticed the difference on Yuga's Torterra.

When Yuga heard Petal mention the tree on Torterra's back, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"She's always like this, please don't mind her," Momiji said, feeling embarrassed. Well, what could she do? Petal was her childhood friend, after all.

Yuga shook his head to indicate that he didn't mind. "It's okay; I can see that Dr. Petal is a very skilled Pokémon doctor."

Many renowned Scientists had eccentric personalities like Petal, and it only showed her passion for her work.

"However, Dr. Petal, can you tell me what's going on with the tree on my Torterra's back?"

Although Yuga knew that the tree on Torterra's back had only benefited it, he was also curious about what exactly was happening with this tree.

"I'll think... I'll think..."

Petal didn't seem to hear Yuga's question, and she started muttering again while making adjustments on the machinery.
