As Xiaoyun walked out of the house with a blanket in his hand, the two who had been waiting outside were immediately confused.
"What's inside the blanket?" Yuqi asked curiously.
"It's a little girl we found," Yueyue replied as Xiaoyun readjusted the blanket slightly to let the little girl's head out of the blanket.
"Why is she wrapped in a blanket? Where did she come from?" Yuqi curiously asked as they began heading back.
"What do you think, sis? She clearly can't move if she has to be carried. Also, they had only entered the house, so where do you think they got it from?" Nami answered first, rolling her eyes in disbelief.
"How dare you poke fun at your sister, you little brat."
Yuqi angrily rushed toward Nami before she could run away, pinching her by the ear in anger.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry." Nami apologized, but Yuqi still refused to let her go.
"Stop messing around. Let's go home first."
After Yueyue separated the two of them, the four of them continued walking down the path back home.
---
"Welcome back."
"It's so hot... I'm never doing this again."
Nami quickly pushed Leyan aside, collapsing onto the sofa as the four of them finally made it back home.
Yuqi also collapsed onto the sofa, with Xiaoyun and Yueyue carrying the blanket over to Leyan.
"Mom, can you check her? We found her at one of the mansions."
As the two of them revealed the girl from the blanket, Leyan realized the urgency of the situation.
After a short diagnosis, Leyan immediately took the girl and the blanket over from the two of them.
"The sun outside was a little too strong for her. Next time, just call me and let me drive there instead of having her walk in this hot weather."
The two nodded as they watched her carry the girl upstairs, leaving the four of them in the living room.
"Xiaoyun, you want to go check out the other buildings? I want to practice my courage."
"Sure."
As the two of them headed back out, Yuqi and Nami didn't even bother getting up to say anything.
When Leyan came back down, she quickly noticed the two of them were gone.
"Where are Xiaoyun and Yueyue?"
"The two of them went out to continue searching," Yuqi replied as she started scrolling on her phone.
"Going out again?"
Leyan immediately got a little worried, noticing the sun setting on the horizon through the window.
"Those two are literally the strongest in the family. I wouldn't be worried if I were you." Nami replied as she took out her phone.
With nothing Leyan could do, she could only sit and wait for the two to come back.
---
After Xiaoyun and Yueyue ran back to No. 302, they started running toward the next one. But just as they saw the building in the distance, he suddenly stopped her.
"Let's skip this one... Mom told me it's not a safe one."
Yueyue didn't question his authority as they continued down the road, albeit at a much faster speed, in an attempt to skip past it.
However, just as they were about to run past the front entrance, a car could be heard down the road.
Within seconds, Xiaoyun quickly grabbed her hands, running to a nearby push as the car drove straight into the 301's driveway.
After waiting for a bit, the door to the driver seats was finally opened, revealing a very young-looking woman, her face in tears as she ran over to the passenger side.
The two of them waited as they couldn't see what was happening on the other side of the car until they heard a man's voice.
"Leave me alone, Huayi! Just let me die here. I can't make it."
Peeking down, they finally noticed a man sitting on the floor, almost as if he was just dragged out of the passenger seat.
Next to the wheel, they could also see the man's leg was covered in bandages, bleeding severely as his entire pant was painted in red.
"No! You promised me that you would marry me! I am not going to leave you behind, Yezi. We are going to make it."
The two watched as the woman tried to carry Yezi to the house entrance, only for them to fall right in front of the car.
"Just leave me! What don't you understand it? I am a dead weight to you. Please, think rationally, Huayi."
Yezi's argument clearly doesn't work, as Huayi stubbornly refuses to let him go.
"I'd rather die than leave you behind! You are the only person that cared about me in this world."
Huayi was finally able to muster enough strength as she forcefully supported him back onto her shoulder, slowly walking towards the porch.
"Just give up on me. I never cared about you! I had been using you the whole time! Are you dropped in the head or what?"
Yezi yelled as he suddenly pushed her away, laying down on the ground as if he had given up on himself.
"Then why did you save me when you could have left me in that dark alleyway? Why did you kill those thugs when they just about to——"
Huayi started crying even harder, sitting down next to him as she collapsed onto his chest.
"Geez, this is a whole drama show... they look like a couple that really care for each other," Yueyue whispered.
"Yeah... But Mom told me that man might be an arms smuggler. I don't think we help." Xiaoyun cautiously murmured.
"But are we really going to watch someone die like this? Even if he's an arms smuggler, it's still a human life.
Besides, I don't believe an arms smuggler can make someone fall in love with them that much. I just don't believe it."
Xiaoyun thought for a second but ultimately agreed with Yueyue's statement, his heart not wanting to deny someone who was in desperate need of help.
"Fine."
As soon as the two of them stepped out of the bush, Yezi instantly drew out a gun before he could even say a word.
"Woah! We're just trying to help you."
"Who the hell are you?" Yezi questioned as he pushed Huayi aside, sitting back up as if he was still perfectly fine.
"We saw how much you guys love each other and just felt we needed to help you."
Yueyue replied as they raised their hands and stopped, both of them starting to regret stepping forward like this.
"Yezi, look at that boy's pocket. If they wanted to shoot us, we'd already be done for... We have nothing to lose, right?"
Huayi was finally able to de-escalate the situation as Yezi lowered his gun, realizing her point was true.
"Sorry about that. My apologies... My nerves are just a little too tense right now."
"It's all good... Let's get you inside first."
Xiaoyun and Yueyue both quickly took over Huayi's role, gently carrying him in their arms as they walked to the front porch.
After Huayi took out a key and opened the door, the two of them were instantly surprised by the interior decoration.
The inside of the house is very ordinary, in contrast to the luxurious front yard with a water fountain and fancy decoration. It was almost as if all the expensive stuff outside was to appear fancy.
"Just leave me on the sofa," Yezi requested.
After putting him onto the sofa, Xiaoyun immediately turned his attention to Yezi's wound.
"Miss Huayi, do you know how to patch him up?" Xiaoyun curiously asked as he started looking inside his backpack.
With Huayi shaking her head, Xiaoyun immediately asked Yueyue. But she gave the same answer as well.
"Why don't we call Mom for her to take a look?" Yueyue suggested.
"You go call her. I'll add another layer of bandages to stop the bleeding."
Xiaoyun quickly dug his hand inside his backpack, cloning a roll of bandages inside before taking it out.
"Um, Mr.Yezi, do you know how to apply bandages?" Xiaoyun curiously asked.
"Just rolled around it. Don't worry about if it is correct."
The answer didn't help Xiaoyun at all, but all he could do now was bite his nail and pray for the best as he started rolling over the bloody bandages.
"Shit!——Ignore me, don't stop applying the bandages."
The groaning pain made him a little nervous, but he continued as Yezi directed.
"You got shot by a bullet, Mr.Yezi?" Xiaoyun asked curiously as he finished applying a fresh layer.
Yezi didn't say a word, but from how hard he was clenching the sofa, it was clear the wrapping had caused a lot more pain. But at the same time, the bleeding had appeared much less.
"Is Yezi okay?" Huayi worryingly asked as she moved a little closer.
"He's not looking too good right now. Miss Huayi, did Yezi get hit by a bullet wound?"
Huayi nodded, causing Xiaoyun to panic a little as he didn't know what to do at this point.
"Mom is on her way. How is Mr.Yezi?" Yueyue curiously asked as she put her phone away.
"Not good. He got hit by a Bullet wound... I got no clue how to remove the bullet or stitch it."
As the four of them sat in silence and waited for Leyan to show up, Huayi suddenly got up from her seat.
"Thank you so much for your guy's help. I don't even know your names."
As she took out her wallet and tried to give the money over, Xiaoyun shook his head and pushed it back.
"No need for that, Miss Huayi. My name is Xiaoyun, and her name is Xiaoyue."
"Huayi, don't be so naive. It's a zombie apocalypse out there, and you are giving them money? Go under my bed and take out the box. I'll give them the gift they deserve."
Huayi immediately listened to Yezi's order and headed straight to the bedroom before she came out with a box.
When the box was placed on the coffee table, Xiaoyun and Yueyue were instantly intrigued by the gift.
"You can open it," Yezi muttered as he signaled Xiaoyun to open it.
The moment Xiaoyun opened the box, the entire room fell into dead silence.
It was some sort of military rifle, and its long and slick design, combined with its black paint, made it look much more intimidating.
"U.S. military issued M16, it's all yours... as long as you promise me one thing." Yezi pleaded.
Xiaoyun thought for a second, then shook his head in the end.
"This is too much. I can't accept this."
Despite the answer, Yezi suddenly grabbed onto the rifle, throwing it right into his arms.
"If I'm dead, you have to protect Huayi. That's all I ask you to do. Can you do that?" Yezi pleaded again.
"Mr. Yezi, you don't need to do this. We will help her no matter what. You can use this yourself when you need it."
Seeing Xiaoyun putting the rifle back into the box and closing it, Yezi was a little surprised.
"Well then, my last worry is gone... Ahem, I am just curious. Are you two siblings?" Yezi suddenly asked.
"Yes?" Xiaoyun replied with a hesitant tone.
"Huayi, I need to tell you something *Cough Cough* As you can see, I'm a bad person. Not the good guy that you had imagined."
The moment Yezi took a short pause, Huayi suddenly burst into tears again as she rushed into his arm.
"I don't care! Even if you are the most evil man alive, you are good to me!"
"Stop being childish and listen to me. Xiaoyun is a perfectly fine gentleman. Just forget about me——"
"I already have a girlfriend. I can't do that, Mr.Yezi."
The moment Xiaoyun clarified the misunderstanding, Yueyue's face suddenly changed into a hint of jealousy.
"Never mind... Huayi, can you light it up for me?"
As Yezi took out a cigarette from his pocket and tried to hand the lighter over, Huayi cried even harder in his arms.
"Well, look like I can't even die in peace... *Cough Cough* Maybe I deserve this for all the bad things I had done."
Seeing him look up at the ceiling with a relieved face and Huayi crying in despair, Xiaoyun and Yueyue both felt a sharp pain in their heart.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, snapping everyone back into the moment.
Yueyue quickly rushed over to open it, only to see Leyan standing by the doorway carrying a medical kit.
"What's the situation?" Leyan curiously asked.
"He's suffering a bullet wound and has been bleeding for a while now," Yueyue explained as they walked into the living room.
"Yueyue, can you bring her to a different room? I need to focus." Leyan whispered after noticing the teary face on Huayi.
"Miss Huayi, let's give them some space." Yueyue patted Huayi on the back and supported her to the bedroom.
"Okay, now she is out of the way. I need to tell you I am not a doctor. I'm only a nurse." Leyan warned.
Yezi nodded in agreement. He didn't expect to live at this point, and he was a little surprised that the two had found someone with medical skills in the first place.
"Xiaoyun, come here. I need you to assist me, okay?"
Leyan started taking things out of the medical bag as Xiaoyun rolled up his sleeve to get ready to help.
---
An hour later.
"You are really lucky that the bullet barely missed the vein. If it took longer, we probably would have needed to amputate your leg."
Leyan commented as she applied a layer of bandages underneath the newly stitched-up wound.
"Thank you so much."
As Yezi tried to get up to bow in gratitude, Leyan quickly pushed him back onto the sofa and signaled Xiaoyun to hold him down.
"No need to thank me. I'm just doing my job... But try to remain still, okay? Don't try to move from this sofa until a week or so."
With a nod from Yezi, Leyan signaled Xiaoyun to let him go as she started packing up her stuff.
Huayi and Yueyue had also walked out of the room after Xiaoyun opened the door to bring them the news.
"I really don't know how I can thank you." Huayi immediately bowed down in gratitude towards Leyan.
"No problem. Here's some anti-inflammatory medicine. It has instructions inside, and he probably knows how to use it himself, " Leyan said as she handed a bottle to her.
"Thank you!"
"I need to go back home to cook dinner now. Come on, Xiaoyun and Yueyue, we're leaving now."
As Leyan headed straight to the exit with her bag, Xiaoyun and Yueyue both waved goodbye to them.
"It was nice meeting you today, Miss Huayi."
Yueyue warmly hugged Huayi as if they had gotten a lot closer while talking to each other in the other room.
"I should be the one saying that. Without you guys, my husband wouldn't be alive."
Huayi bowed down in gratitude one last time again as the two finally opened the door and left with Leyan.
But just as the three got into the car, Huayi had somehow gotten up to the balcony.
"Wait, can I ask where you live? I just want to come and thank you personally one day." Huayi asked out loud.
Leyan didn't say anything as she started the car, but Xiaoyun and Yueyue were a little conflicted inside.
But in the end, Xiaoyun decided to roll down the window and reply to her question.
"We live at 303, right on top of the small hill," Xiaoyun replied.
"Thank you!"
---
A few minutes later.
As Leyan parked the car inside the garage, both Xiaoyun and Yueyue could tell her face was extremely angry.
"Xiaoyun, didn't I tell you not to go to 301?" Leyan asked as they stepped out of the car.
"I know, I know, but he's injured. I can't just leave him to die like that." Xiaoyun replied.
"I was the one that decided to help. You don't have to blame Xiaoyun for this."
Yueyue tries to take the blame, but Leyan doesn't take it as she shifts into blaming the two of them.
"Do you know how worried I was when I heard you guys were at 301? I thought you guys were kidnapped.
Why did you two still approach them when they had a gun? Don't tell me you didn't see that pistol in his pocket?" Leyan questioned.
"Sorry..."
Both of them apologized at the same time, knowing they were in the wrong. They had become distracted by the drama unfolding.
They didn't see the pistol at all until Yezi pulled it out from the back of his pants, putting themselves in a risky situation.
"Fine, I understand you two just have too big of a heart. But Xiaoyun, why did you tell them our address? Just because we saved them doesn't mean they will all be thankful.
What if they come back and bite us? I had seen so many patients in the hospital yelling and even punching at the doctor who had just saved them.
They even have an entire rifle on the table. What kind of normal person just has that lying on the table? What are you actually thinking, Xiaoyun?"
Leyan finally reached her breaking point, turning around to look him dead in the eyes as she couldn't bring out more anger towards him.
"Mom... I don't think they are that kind of people. I mean, the reason why the rifle was on the table was because he wanted to give that rifle to me.
I was the one who rejected the rifle since I think they are honorable people." Xiaoyun explained.
"What? Honorable? That's an arms smuggler you are talking about." Leyan questioned as she started to sound surprised rather than frustrated.
"I really mean it. I think he has changed to be a better person. Mom, you've seen all the tear marks on her face, right?"
Leyan slowly nodded, but she was not convinced.
"The only reason he wanted to give me that gun was for me to protect Huayi if he dies. I don't think a cruel person would be willing to do that much for a woman."
After a short silence, Leyan took out her keys as she turned back towards the garage door.
"I really hope he is like you describe him to be..." Leyan murmured as she unlocked the door.
As soon as they entered the house, Nami immediately greeted them.
"You guys are finally back! Mom, I am so hungry!" Nami yelled as she ran up to hug Leyan, happiness on her face.
"Okay, okay, I am going to cook dinner right now," Leyan murmured in a grumpy mood as she dragged Nami with her.
"Ugh, my clothes are so sweaty... I'm going to go take a shower."
With Yueyue heading upstairs to the bathroom, Xiaoyun also felt the sweat on his body and decided to head upstairs.
---
After taking a shower in Leyan's bathroom, Xiaoyun decided to go to Yuqi's room.
"Who is it?" Yuqi's voice came out after he knocked on the door.
"It's me, Xiaoyun."
"Come in. The door is unlocked."
When Xiaoyun opened the door, Yuqi was lying on the bed with a laptop, her head resting against the pillow stacked on the wall.
The only thing he could see was her wearing a bra on top, with everything else being covered by a blanket.
"What you want?"
Yuqi asked as she remained typing on the computer, not looking back at him a single time.
Xiaoyun didn't answer, closing the door before sitting down on the office chair.
After staring at her for a bit, Yuqi finally stopped and turned her attention over to him.
"What exactly do you want?" Yuqi asked with a slight hint of irritation.
"Darling, you look so pretty when you work."
The sudden compliment made Yuqi blush a little, but she quickly hid it by turning back to the computer.
"I didn't do anything special... Anyway, why are you in my room? You didn't just come here to see me, right?"
"I just wanted to see your face, darling," Xiaoyun replied.
"Whatever..."
As Yuqi went back to typing on the laptop, Xiaoyun's mind was brought back to what happened between Yezi and Huayi.
Deep inside, he wondered if he and Yuqi were at that point yet. But the noise from key presses quickly snapped him back to reality.
"What are you typing?" Xiaoyun curiously asked, getting up from his seat to have a closer look.
"Nothing," Yuqi replied as she instantly slammed her laptop close.
"Come on. Lemme see it." Xiaoyun pleaded, his curiosity getting bigger as Yuqi continued to hide it.
"It's nothing. Okay? Also, what happened during your trip outside?" Yuqi asked, pushing her laptop aside as she changed the topic.
"Oh, you wouldn't believe what we saw..."
Xiaoyun started explaining his whole trip earlier, from the beginning to the end, with zero details missing.
"Babe, why don't you take the rifle when he gave it to you? They give it to you as a payment. Even if you don't know how to use it, you still can intimidate other people with it."
Xiaoyun didn't answer right away, moving his hand all the way to her forehead before flicking it.
"Ouch! What was that for?" Yuqi asked in anger as she covered her forehead with her hand.
"Use your brain for a second. Did you forget about my superpower?" Xiaoyun revealed.
"Oh, right... But why not still take it? It's still better to have the gun for yourselves, no?"
"Well, since they are near the entrance, they will be the first ones facing it, so it wouldn't make sense for us to keep it."
"I guess..."
As the two sat in silence, they stared at each other until they were interrupted by Leyan's door knock.
"Dinner is ready."
"Okay, let's go eat now," Yuqi said after hearing Leyan's footsteps were gone.
Just as Xiaoyun was about to open the door, he quickly noticed Yuqi was only wearing a bra and panties.
"Darling, are you sure you want to go out in this?" Xiaoyun asked as he stood right in front of the door.
"What's wrong? Why are you standing by the door?"
Noticing his stares, Yuqi turned around to check the wall behind him, only to get even more confused.
"Ahem, you might want to check what you are wearing right now." Xiaoyun finally spilled the bean.
Looking down, Yuqi immediately realized she was practically naked in front of him.
"Shit! I almost forgot! I'll come down later."
She instantly shoved Xiaoyun out of the room, slamming the door right in his face.
"Why is she so shy when we already did it?" Xiaoyun wondered as he headed toward the stairs.

I finally fixed this chapter's grammar. I have always hated some of the flow in this one, which is creating so many problems.
