Bullet casings tinkled as they hit the ground, the tyrant in the distance swiftly changing to a running stance and closing in. Bullets proved futile, healing the tyrant's wounds before any effect set in. Close combat seemed equally futile.
Reflecting on their last encounter, Alice's Psychokinesis had played a pivotal role in their escape from the base.
In the underground base, the hive above endured a precise nuclear strike, rendering many areas unusable. Isaac observed the aftermath on the monitor, his emotions evident. However, his concern shifted to the progress of the human evolution medicine research.
Wesker reported the lack of breakthroughs due to mysterious substances in the R-1 medicine. Experimental subjects died without results, leaving Isaac frustrated. Determined to retrieve the technology, Isaac contemplated seeking Varion's assistance.
"I must find Varion myself. This must be in my hands," Isaac declared.
Wesker acknowledged Alice's enhanced physical abilities, speculating that they had injected the R-1 medicine. Isaac derided Varion's path, noting the consequences of going astray.
"Dispose of them and prepare to recycle the Las Vegas base!" Isaac ordered.
In the hive base, Alice and her team faced multiple tyrants, resulting in casualties. The overwhelming presence of tyrants disrupted their plans.
"How are there so many tyrants? Are the people in this base insane?" Carlos questioned, nursing wounds.
"Retreat!" Alice commanded, acknowledging the unfavorable odds.
Escaping back to the Las Vegas base, Carlos noticed unfamiliar faces among the new occupants. Alice struggled to analyze the situation.
"Have you seen these people before?" Varion asked with a smile.
Carlos shook his head, perplexed. Alice, sensing the complexity of the situation, wondered if this was Varion's intended outcome.
"Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention, Alicia is dead," Varion casually dropped the news.
Alice raised her head, questioning, "I really want to know, who is this Alicia?"
"Don't you already have a guess in your mind?" came the reply.
"Yes, Alicia is yourself, or another you, because your attack failed, she was directly killed by Isaac."
The news left them all bewildered. Even in the original narrative, Isaac chose to use Alyssa as an alternative, sparing her life. But in this world, things took a different turn.
"It's the real world; differences are expected," he reasoned.
In essence, it was normal for this divergence to occur. Even if Alicia didn't die now, Isaac's ultimate plan would ensure her demise. He had no intention of sharing his new world with anyone.
"But how? If she could have Umbrella's highest authority, how could she be killed?" Alice couldn't fathom it.
"You're referring to the Red Queen, right? What if the Red Queen is halted? Even a few seconds are enough for Isaac to act, isn't it?"
Maybe, Alice thought, but how could Alicia be herself?
Observing the silent crowd, surviving in a troubled world seemed exceptionally challenging.
"Isaac is about to attack here. What are you going to do?" Jill, with a fiery temper, wasn't in the best mood regarding Umbrella.
"What else can I do? Defend, of course! Even if I die, I'll take them down with me."
Alice pursed her lips, smiling wryly. "Is there anything else we can do?"
They seemed trapped with no better option. Escaping would lead to their demise, and resisting here meant following Varion's lead. To Alice, Varion was not fundamentally different from Isaac. It was just her intuition.
"Mousse, report back."
"Okay, sir. The nuclear bombs we have now comprise 65% of the world's nuclear arsenal, enough for the impending war. Directly launching them might be the quickest and most convenient solution."
In essence, if one plan failed, they could try another until the hive base was obliterated.
"No," Alice exclaimed.
Facing everyone's puzzled looks, she sensed she might have overreacted. "If we bomb the hive base with a nuclear bomb, the wind-borne medicine will be destroyed. The world will continue to perish, leaving us with no other choice."
"Ms. Alice, we can create antiviral wind-borne agents!" Mousse interjected.
Alice's expression mirrored confusion.
"No, why didn't you mention this before?"
"Ms. Alice, you didn't ask."
Alice: "..."
Well, that was a straightforward answer. Indeed, Varion could be utilized to create an antiviral wind-borne agent for the T-virus. It would take some time, but according to the original plan, it was the most efficient way to proceed. If they acted too soon, more survivors might be left on Earth.
Alice turned to Varion. "Is this true?"
Varion shrugged. "Well, it can be done, but it will take a while, and I'm not particularly interested in it."
"But this involves countless lives! How can you..."
"Stop, it's not the virus I developed. In fact, it's your responsibility, Alice."
