Capítulo 6: Chapter 6

The man, dismounting from his horse, approached Chise, Ginryu's foster grandmother.

Sensing a growing unease, Ginryu instinctively ran in front of her, a protective impulse taking hold of him.

He couldn't help but feel a sense of danger in the presence of the approaching man, with his rhythmic steps and the weight of his sword.

Ginryu's mind raced, contemplating what he could possibly do against an armed opponent.

He couldn't risk using his abilities, as doing so might endanger far more than just his grandmother.

As the man drew closer, he unexpectedly spoke, attempting to ease the tension that filled the air.

"Relax, kid. I didn't come here looking for trouble," the man said, pausing briefly before smiling at Ginryu, However Ginryu perceived this smile as a mocking grin.

Despite his words, Ginryu couldn't ignore the gut feeling that this man had taken many lives.

He emitted an aura that Ginryu found all too familiar, one that reminded him of his past life and his father, a man slayer.

It was a feeling that would forever remain etched in his memory.

"I am home, Haha Ue," the man spoke while taking off his helmet, dropping a shocking revelation that left Chise standing in shock, tears streaming down her face.

It was then that Ginryu realized that the man before him might be none other than Ryuunosuke, Chise's long-lost son.

"You..." Chise started to say something, but instead, she picked up her straw slippers and ran towards Ryuunosuke.

The man made no attempt to dodge and simply let her hit him. Ginryu stepped back, allowing them space to enjoy their reunion.

Chise continued to strike Ryuunosuke while crying, releasing her pent-up emotions.

This went on for a while until Ryuunosuke finally pulled his mother into a warm and heartfelt embrace.

"Welcome home," Chise whispered, her voice filled with undeniable warmth. Eventually, the intensity subsided, and they separated.

"Bring the gifts," Ryuunosuke called out to the rest of his entourage. Respectfully, they acknowledged his orders and began unloading the carts they had brought along.

"Ryuunosuke, do you remember me?" the village chief suddenly spoke up. Ginryu inwardly sighed, hoping the chief would take the hint and give them some privacy.

"Yes, village chief. We can talk later, after I've spent time with my family," Ryuunosuke replied.

"Ah, of course. Take your time," the village chief replied, hurriedly retreating from their presence. There would be ample opportunity for discussions later.

"Haha Ue, let's go inside," Ryuunosuke gently guided his mother, leading her towards the house. The members of his entourage diligently followed suit, bringing in the gifts they had brought.

As the company settled inside, exchanging stories and catching up, Ginryu found himself at a crossroad.

Should he join them inside or give them some space and take a moment to explore the outskirts of the village, where the mountains met the deep blue sea?

Contemplating this, he made the decision to take a leisurely walk along the edge of the mountain area, savouring the tranquil beauty of nature that surrounded the village.

The mountains provided an abundance of resources for hunting and foraging, while the sea offered endless opportunities for fishing.

........

Meanwhile, inside the warmth of the house, Ryuunosuke and Chise delved into a deep conversation, catching up on the years lost apart.

"Tell me, what happened during your travels?" Chise inquired, her voice filled with a mixture of curiosity and longing.

Sighing, Ryuunosuke replied, "It's a long story." But Chise, in her characteristic sternness, demanded a concise summary. "Then make it short," she insisted.

"As I left home, I wandered for a time, honing my skills. Eventually, I caught the attention of the Miura clan and gradually climbed the ranks," Ryuunosuke recounted, his voice carrying the weight of his journey.

"And did you ever come across your sister? She married into the Miura clan," Chise inquired further, her eyes filled with hope for a reunion.

"I was completely taken aback when I caught sight of her as a bride," Ryuunosuke exclaimed, his voice filled with astonishment.

"I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, but I never had the chance to speak with her."

Chise, curious and intrigued, asked, "Why? What happened?"

"She caught the attention of the lord, and as such, she was taken to the inner manor, a place forbidden to men like me," Ryuunosuke responded, his tone tinged with sadness.

Understanding the situation, Chise muttered, "I see. As long as she is living a good life, that's all that matters."

Ryuunosuke had been harboring a question for some time and decided to ask it. "I've been curious about this for a while now. Who is that child named Ginryu ?"

"Ginryu is an unfortunate child who washed up on the shores during a violent storm five years ago," Chise explained, her voice carrying a touch of mystery.

Taking in the information, Ryuunosuke nodded thoughtfully. "Hmm, I see. Based on the way he tried to protect you, I believe he will grow up to be a strong man."

Chise responded with a noncommittal hum, her thoughts wandering elsewhere.

Noticing the change in atmosphere, Ryuunosuke changed the subject. "Where is my father?"

"He is out fishing," Chise replied, her tone calm and collected.

Ryuunosuke let out a sigh. "He's still the same, I guess."

Chise defended her husband, saying, "What's so wrong with that? I barely recognized you myself."

Ryuunosuke's voice held a hint of frustration. "A man should have lofty ambitions. He shouldn't remain idle and become a fisherman when he could strive for something greater."

Chise, sensing the tension in the air, attempted to defuse the situation. "Enough. What made you change so much?" she asked gently.

Ryuunosuke evaded the question, diverting their conversation instead. "Never mind that. Come, see the gifts I've brought back."

Realizing that he didn't want to discuss his transformation, Chise decided to let him be. He was now a grown man capable of making his own choices.

Ryuunosuke, eager to see his nephew, inquired, "Where is that Ginryu kid? Shouldn't he be here to greet his uncle?"

"He is a very thoughtful child. He probably stayed outside to give us some space," Chise replied.

Soon, mother and son were sifting through the gifts Ryuunosuke had brought, imagining the look on Ryuu's face when he returned home and discovered his long-lost son had come back.

Little did they know that the envisioned reunion would turn out to be something entirely different...
