JEROME TURNED the heat down in the car after I held my hands up in front of the vent to warm them.
"Are you sure you don’t want me to come in?" he asked as we sat together in his vehicle on the street by the shop.
"No," I pulled my cat tail loose from the back of my belt and laid it on his dash. "I’ll run in and grab a quick change of clothes. Keep the car running."
We’d left the Halloween party and been on our way back to Jerome’s hotel room, but I wanted to pick up a few things first. A longer cord for my cell phone to charge, new clothes, and my favorite hand lotion.
I’d feel more comfortable having these simple things. Maybe I’d get so comfortable I’d never leave. Kidding. No one moved that quickly. I’d scare Jerome away.
