4.76% CEO Husband Takes me on a Vengeance Quest / Chapter 4: Despair

Capítulo 4: Despair

"You saved me, Sir?" Amelia said to the young man in a hurry. "My name is Amelia Harper, and I am very grateful for your help. I'd like to go home and explain some things to my father. I'll be back and thank you after that."

The young man looked down at her for a while and shook his head.

Amelia wanted to explain, but she didn't know where to start.

The pain and anger of being framed stuck in her throat, leaving her speechless.

Looking at Amelia again, the man pulled out some tissues and handed them to her.

Then he said softly, "Miss Harper. It's not that I don't want you to go back, but rather you could never talk things out even if you head back."

"How come?" Amelia took the tissue and wiped away her tears. "My father treats me well. Though he was angry today, it's just that he got confused. Besides, I've never done anything like that, and I'm sure I can figure it out."

Amelia didn't care what the young man said to her and wanted to leave.

"Miss Harper, please wait," the man called her.

"What?" Amelia stopped and turned back.

The young man came to Amelia with a smile, took out a business card, and handed it to her. "Miss Harper, here is my business card just in case you need me. By the way, your handbag is on the table by the door. Take it with you when you leave."

Amelia glanced at the card.

Ethan Frost. That was a good name.

"Mr. Frost, thank you very much. I really appreciate it," Amelia wanted to cry because of a stranger's care.

Then she opened the door and hurried out.

After Amelia left the presidential suite, she headed straight for the hotel gate.

As she walked through the lobby, she could hear the hotel attendants whispering about her. She was embarrassed by the remarks.

Amelia then got herself a cab and finally made it back home half an hour later.

the Harper family got a well-protected security system. Even the gate was fingerprint encrypted.

Standing in front of her house, Amelia took a deep breath and tugged on her collar before walking in the front door. She then put her right index finger on the fingerprint sensor.

"Access denied."

The fingerprint sensor started, and the door was kept shut.

Amelia was taken aback. After confirming that it was really her house, she put her index finger on the fingerprint sensor again.

"Access denied."

"Access denied."

"Alarm system ready."

Hearing the sound, Amelia finally realized that her fingerprint authentication had been removed from the system, so she couldn't enter the house.

She couldn't understand.

In just a few hours, she became a destitute person who couldn't even enter her own house.

Why did her family have to treat her so cruelly?

"No, I have to call dad and explain everything to him," Amelia murmured and called her father.

However, she heard nothing but the waiting beeps.

Amelia was going to crazy because of what happened so far.

Then, she called Michael.

But Michael was even worse. He blocked Amelia's number after the phone rang a few times.

Amelia was completely desperate.

It was in early summer, and the weather at night was still cold in Keadow, Gread.

Agitated, Amelia threw herself at the wall. While banging on the door, she kept crying, "Dad, I'm Amelia. Open the door, please!"

She then reached for the fingerprint sensor again.

That immediately triggered the Harper family's alarm system. The piercing alarm instantly resounded through the night sky.

Amelia soon heard the whistling of the police car, and the car came to her side in a flash.

At the same time, the door of the Harper family was also opened from the inside, and Charles appeared in front of Amelia.

Amelia burst into tears when she saw her father.

She cried to Charles, "Dad! Let me in, please. I can explain. What Bel said is not true. She is framing me and my mom. Let me in and hear me out, okay? Dad, you have to trust me!"

She cried bitterly as she spoke, and her voice was trembling.

The police rushing in were a little puzzled.

Someone who knew Amelia asked Charles in surprise, "Mr. Harper, we heard the alarm. But... what's going on with Miss Amelia? Do you want us to... take her away?"

"Of course," Charles said without any emotion, "there is no Miss Amelia here, but only a criminal who intended to break into private property. Take her away right now. I don't want to see her."

"What? Alright," although the police had zero clue as to what was going on, he still performed his duty. He stepped forward and escorted her off.

Amelia didn't expect that her father would be so heartless. While struggling, she shouted at Charles, hoping that he could give her a chance to explain.

However, Charles didn't seem to hear her shouting and ordered someone to close the door. He left without a second thought.

The last thing she saw of him was the cold look in Charles' eyes. It was like hell, without a trace of warmth.

"How could this be... this is not real... not real."

Amelia's mind went blank. She just felt like having a nightmare, but the siren echoed in her ears, reminding her that everything was as real as it could get.

"I'm afraid this is how far we can take you,"

The police got her out of the back seat. Standing in front of the police station, Amelia looked at the policeman in a panic, "I just want to go home, but why did you bring me here? I just want to go home."

"Miss Amelia, we don't know what your problem is, but you heard Mr. Harper. We are only doing our job."

Amelia was at a loss for words.

She thought, "Of course, we've got some problem going on, but I don't even have a chance to explain it to my father."

"Miss Amelia, we have no choice. Look, if you ask your family to prove that you didn't break into the house without permission, you can be released on bail."

"What? That's my house. I..."

Amelia soon recalled the scene of not getting her fingerprint right. She shook her head and sneered, "Now, that was ironic."

"Miss Amelia, we can see that your father is mad right now. But you can let your mother or your sister prove that for you."

Amelia snorted, "They were the ones who framed me today. They would never want me to get out of here in the first place."

"Let me call my dad, and he will definitely let me go home and explain everything to him."

"Alright."

Actually, Amelia didn't have much confidence, but she still wanted to give it a try.

Then she called her father and then Michael.

She tried several times, but no one answered. At that moment, Amelia felt as if trapped in an ice cellar, cold and desperate.

"Miss Amelia, why don't you stay here for a few days? Maybe in a few days, your father will..." The officer had a hard time wrapping his brain around what had happened in her family and could not figure out anything better to say.

"Please let me have one last call, okay?"

The officer then gave her permission to do that.

She hurriedly took out a business card.

"Ethan Frost," she murmured.

The stranger who had just helped her was her last resort. He was the life-saving straw.

She made the call and he answered.

"Hello..."
