The sun shined brought into Alex’s eyes which likely meant that he had overslept. He quickly got dressed and out of his room (despite his body’s protest) and quickly walked toward the food house he had been shown the day before.
Everyone else was waiting for breakfast when Alex opened the door and sat down. Baron Luke opened his mouth to complain about Alex’s late arrival but then closed his mouth and calmed down.
The air inside the room was tense, and there seemed to be a clear divide between the locals and those brought here from outside.
“Alex, how was your night? I had a…good night but Merry kept waking up during the night due to nightmares. Anyway, I don’t think that this is a good place for us to settle down. I will need to look for another place.”
Kalidus thought he was being polite and discrete by lowering his voice. But little did he know that it was not the case for him. All the others in this room could hear Kalidus’s words.
