Jason was fed with this new information and with Chronos being the devil on his shoulder, his thoughts adopted a different perspective that he didn't originally have.

Jason was too trusting and this was part of the reason Sam thought he wouldn't last in this new world.

There was no way he wouldn't be eaten alive by those that are ready to do absolutely anything to survive, this included taking a life.

Jason needed to adopt that mentality or he wouldn't last long at this rate.
