Chapter 10 - A New World

Written By Dr Armstrong

— - [Amon's POV] - —

The night sky was like a sea of all-black darkness as the dazzling yet strangely familiar stars were like the various fish within that dark sea.

It was quite a mundane sight for this world's inhabitants, the night sky with all of its glittering delights.

Yet a sudden ripple amongst the stars abruptly broke the mundane yet serene atmosphere. T'was a sign, a hint for an uninvited guest's arrival on this world's space-time axis.

—RIPPLE~DING~CRACK~!*

It looked as if someone had torn the reality around the sky as a small, man-sized portal was displaced into the background. It was like a glitch in the matrix or a blemish in a world-class painting, something that truly did not belong.

An error.

The space around the portal convulsed and collapsed in on itself as a small greenish sphere was shot out with feverish intensity, travelling to the hard ground with a loud thud.

—RIPPLE~THUD~BURST~!*

A burst of lavender light shone against the dark forest as the Ender Pearl exploded into hot mist, a small creature suddenly appearing in its place.

"...KIIIINS!" A childish yet distorted voice screamed out as his form fell upon the ground with an audible crack that signalled the incoming pain Amon was about to experience.

Perhaps this was why the Ender Pearl had been so cheap. It was a one-use teleport item that depended on the user's throwing ability and did not stop the velocity of a fall nor the force of a hard impact.

Amon sincerely wished for Minecraft Steve to get some bitches. That guy did this stunt on a regular occasion and never broke a sweat, what an absolute King.

But the same couldn't be said for our young Angel...

"..." A scream wouldn't be good, so the Angel quickly swallowed some dirt to mute what noise would have travelled up from his throat.

And then he just consumed the dirt, not like it would do his stomach any bad. Amon was pretty sure it would just get melted by his internal body's radiation, so there was little concern.

"Eugh..." ...Ok, maybe not.

A human could (theoretically) consume and digest his own fresh faeces as long as it hadn't been contaminated by external sources without much concern.

It was perfectly safe since it was just simple waste matter that came from the body itself. Eating your own shit would be minimally toxic at worst...

But of course, it tasted really, really bad.

Amon was experiencing much of the same thing. Whilst he was no longer a human, he still retained his tactile senses.

Dirt was obviously not as disgusting as pure faecal matter, but it was still dirt from the ground that was, well...very dirty.

But it indeed did the job of muting his scream, so Amon wouldn't call it a bad deal, really...

As for why he wanted no such distressed noise emitted out of his body? Well, wouldn't you know it; he had been transported into a forest!

He had no idea what world this was, it could be Yaut'ja Prime for all he knew! Or one of those Deathworlds in the 40K galaxy...

Yeah, screaming was not an option in either of those scenarios. It was better to keep calm and not attract any hungry Dragons...

'A forest...literally most worlds have that...' It really didn't narrow anything down aside from the fact that this was probably not a sci-fi world since the trees looked rather...earth.

—BADUM~BADUM~!*

"!?" Amon widened his eyes as a sudden weight was pressed down upon his form...the Counter Force.

He remembered this from the original novel...when an Angel or a Demon tries to enter a world, they are immediately rejected by a kind of 'Counter Force' through spiritual pressure directly blasted into their Souls.

Demons and Angels alike were very much 'Alien' and were considered to be foreign anomalies by the world that needed to be purged out and or expelled back into their home dimensions.

But...this pressure...it merely felt like a light breeze brushing against his non-existent skin, very minute...

'Shit...!' This was a VERY bad sign because the Counter Force actually scales to the Alien's power level against the natives. A foreign species of moss wouldn't be much of a threat in a world where Deities casually roamed the planet...

This meant that the current Amon...was like an Ant! Still, this fact did narrow the search down by a wide margin...

'Fuck...what is this feeling...' Amon resisted the urge to hiss out in primal pain as he felt a hot seeing sensation welling up inside his body.

It was like being marked by a burning horseshoe...wait...mark...

That's it! It was the Mark of Ouroboros! The mark that helped Osirios in his ascension...

When a Demon dies outside of Hell, the Mark of Ouroboros sents them right back into the Abyss as if they had not just died. It was the same case for Angels, though they get sent to Heaven instead.

The only method of killing these extraplanaric beings was to kill them on their home turf; that being the Abyss and the various Heavens.

The exception was when they killed each other. A Demon could destroy an Angel's Holy Soul with their Soul devouring capabilities to prevent resurrection, whereas an Angel could obliterate a Demon's Soul by overwhelming it with Holy Light.

This was what Altair did to those Low-ranking Demons...

'Altair...' He still felt bad about abandoning that guy, but what could you do?

"Honk..." It is what it is...

Honestly, the Sea of Consciousness' effects hadn't been so bad. He just got a speech impediment and a few more voices in his head, but his intelligence actually got boosted.

Too bad the Author's didn't...

It is what it is...

—RUSTLE~!*

'Oh, shit...what the fuck is that?' Amon's non-existent ears perked up as he heard soft rustling inside the nearby brambles.

It was...a humanoid figure, one that ought to come out from some cheap-horror movie...

A hand reached out, a torn-up hand which was more green in colour. Really, it was just rotten flesh that was somehow still attached to the bone...

"Grrr..." A loud growling could be heard as the humanoid figure climbed out with lethargic movements.

'Undead...' The Angel muttered to himself.

Zombie, it was actually a Zombie.
