But before she could say anything more, Lydia's shock turned to anger. Her eyes narrowed, and her jaw clenched with fury. The betrayal she felt was overwhelming, and her voice came out sharp and cold.

"How could you?" Lydia seethed, her voice cutting through the tension in the room. "I trusted you both, and this is how you repay me?"

Jerry, fully awake now, tried to explain, but Lydia's anger was palpable, and she wasn't ready to hear anything from either of them. Her heart ached with pain and disappointment, and she felt the weight of the betrayal crushing down on her.
