Following the evening meal, I was summoned to the Captain's tent again. The Captain appeared slightly uneasy, and Drevolan was present once more.

"Well, Viktor," he began, "Are you ready to take another stand for liberty?"

"Is that our mission?" I asked.

"No, but it's a more appealing description than aiding a rich and influential nobleman in preserving his wealth and influence."

"Have you been eavesdropping on my private talks?"

"No, why?"

"Never mind. What do you need me to do?"

"Cernan," Drevolan interjected, "has a habit of sending his soldiers into battle on a full stomach. It—"

"The scoundrel," I interrupted.

"—would benefit us if we could prevent that from happening."

"I see. You think they're planning an attack?"
