After graduating from Hogwarts, Marfilda Hopkirk had been working for the Ministry of Magic and was currently serving as the assistant to the Head of the Office for the Prohibition of the Misuse of Magic.

Hopkirk's usual job was to send warning letters to individuals who had violated the law on behalf of the Head of the Office, explaining the specific laws they had broken. In more serious cases, the Emergency Response Team would be notified.

However, today, Hopkirk encountered something extremely frustrating.

Someone had actually replied to her letter, saying, "Your Ministry of Magic has made a mistake."

The sender of this letter was named Albert Anderson and was currently attending Hogwarts.

In the letter, Anderson clearly stated that he and his family were on vacation in France at the time and did not bring a wand with them, let alone use the Levitation Charm. The Ministry of Magic had definitely made a mistake, and he hoped that they would resolve the misunderstanding and respond to his letter.

In truth, Hopkirk didn't think Anderson was lying, because the most favorable evidence was that Anderson would not have used the Levitation Charm at all. He had just finished his first year at Hogwarts.

A first-year student using the Levitation Charm?

Hopkirk herself couldn't believe it.

Without the ability to use the Levitation Charm, it was impossible to cast the spell.

So it was undoubtedly a mistake on the part of the Office for the Prohibition of the Misuse of Magic. It wasn't the first time such a thing had happened, so Hopkirk wasn't too surprised.

But... what did this matter have to do with her?

Hopkirk was only responsible for sending letters and notifications; she wasn't in charge of handling these matters, nor did she have the authority to do so.

Oh, wait, this matter did have a little something to do with her.

Hopkirk had the power to decide whether to hand the letter over to the current Head of the Office for the Prohibition of the Misuse of Magic or simply throw it into the trash.

Based on her understanding of her superior, he probably wouldn't care about such things!

After all, no matter how you looked at it, it was just a small matter that didn't need to be overly investigated.

Marfilda Hopkirk was preparing to handle it privately.

Well, the so-called private handling meant either destroying the letter or throwing it into a trash bin. After all, she was just an assistant.

Although she had some knowledge of the laws that reasonably restrained underage wizards, she was ultimately just an assistant, responsible for helping with things like writing warning letters.

As Hopkirk was about to throw the letter into the trash, she suddenly remembered a certain incident from last year. She still remembered the commotion caused by the trace that resulted in a major mistake.

In the end, it was exposed by the Daily Prophet, and the person responsible for handling it, Nathalie, ended up getting into trouble. She almost got transferred to the Office of International Magical Cooperation.

"It doesn't seem right to throw it away. I'll give it to the Head!" Hopkirk hesitated for a moment and felt that it was her duty to do so. As for how her superior would handle it, it wasn't her concern.

Of course, Hopkirk could guess the likely outcome after sending the letter.

As Hopkirk expected, her superior didn't even spare a glance at the letter and simply tossed it aside on the desk.

By the time Hopkirk saw the letter again, it had already been thrown into the trash.

However, Hopkirk was unaware that this outcome was also within Albert's expectations.

But what Hopkirk was even more unaware of was that they had unknowingly stepped into a trap set by someone else. Behind them, someone was already preparing to give them a kick into that pit.

...

After returning home, Albert began replying to the people who had sent him letters.

Naturally, the Weasley twins were also on Albert's list, and he included a gift he had purchased for them—the rubber ducks.

Well, the yellow rubber ducks were actually gifts Albert had bought at a local grocery store near his home. He knew that Fred and George wouldn't like this gift because it was meant for Mr. Weasley.

Albert wanted the twins to ask Mr. Weasley how to handle a situation like his own.

Fred and George expressed sympathy (gleefully) in their reply to Albert's ordeal and wrote:

"...Dad thinks it's just a small matter, so you don't need to worry. He suggests that you should write a letter to the Head of the Office for the Prohibition of the Misuse of Magic and explain the situation to him..."

At the end of the letter, they added, "By the way, Dad asked me to ask you, what is the rubber duck used for in the Muggle world?"

"A small matter?" Albert murmured. "Well, indeed, it's just a trivial matter for those who are not involved."

Albert put the twins' letter aside and continued to open the second one.

Professor Brode's reply was somewhat unexpected for Albert as well. He also regarded it as a small matter and advised Albert not to worry about it.

In Professor Brode's letter, he provided some information about the Extraordinary Potions Association, also expressing his appreciation for the gift Albert had given him. He briefly mentioned McDougall's new book at the end.

"A small matter?" Albert put the letter aside and picked up the golden card, mumbling, "Now let's see how Haddock Dagworth reacts. Will he also consider it a small matter if his golden card goes missing?"

From Professor Brode's letter, Albert could infer the value of the golden card he held.

He believed Haddock Dagworth would not remain indifferent.

...

...

There were several more letters, and it was impossible to reply to all of them immediately.

The last letter was written by Lavina Smith, and besides discussing some common interests, Lavina mentioned that she would give Albert an unexpected surprise in the near future.

Regarding the so-called unexpected surprise, Albert could probably guess what it was: Lavina Smith was preparing to take up the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts.

After reading all the letters, Albert put them into a box, stretched lazily, finished his lukewarm milk tea, and patted Tom, who was lying on a cushion next to the table. He then refocused his attention on the remaining summer homework.

This was the homework Albert had left unfinished before going on vacation to France. He didn't have the habit of doing homework while on vacation, so he temporarily set aside his summer assignments.

During his vacation in France, Albert only brought a few books on ancient magical texts that McDougall had given him.

By carefully studying these books, he could rapidly increase his experience in magical texts.

Now, he was getting closer to reaching Level 3 in magical texts.

It wasn't that Albert disliked using experience to level up directly, but he preferred the feeling of researching magic.

Every breakthrough in magical texts gave Albert a sense of inexplicable achievement, and that sense of achievement was what Albert wanted.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. Nia pushed the door open and poked her head in, saying to Albert, who was sitting at the desk, "Dad asked me to tell you to go to bed early tonight. We're going shopping in Diagon Alley tomorrow."

"I know." Albert understood why Nia was so excited because she would also be going to Diagon Alley with them.

"Tom, it's time for bed!" Nia reached out, picked up Tom, who was lying on the cushion, and placed him on the floor. "Walk by yourself. You've gotten so heavy that I can't carry you anymore."

"That's why I said Tom needs to lose weight," Albert said with a smile. "Go rest early."

"Goodnight, Tom! Otherwise, your rations will be halved tomorrow." Nia's threat was quite effective. Tom obediently got up and followed behind Nia as they left.

Albert watched the door close and refocused his attention on his homework.

These vacation assignments weren't particularly difficult; it just took time to write the answers on parchment.

He was considering whether to stay up late and finish all the assignments at once when he remembered Nia's excitement about shopping in Diagon Alley tomorrow and decided to give up.

Half an hour later, Albert closed the ink bottle, returned the quill to its holder, stretched lazily, and yawned.

Shela had just returned from hunting. Since Albert had told her not to bring dead mice home last time, she hadn't done so again.

"Goodnight!" Albert looked at his owl and then glanced at the night sky outside the window, covering another yawn before lying back in bed to rest.
