I awoke with a jump back in my room with everything appearing to be normal.
Breathing heavily, I touched my neck as the memories of what just happened flashed through my mind.
I had lost.
I couldn't help but feel depressed as I had lost my most powerful ability. If I dared to use the Galvanic form, I had no idea what Evil Shawn would do while in it.
A knock on my door brings me out of my thoughts.
The door slides open and S3bastian walks in. "Oh good, you're awake. Apparently, Reinhardt has arrived earlier than expected so we're to head out to New York soon. But jeez, you look like you just died."
I don't respond as he walks back out. I check my phone to see an entire two days have passed. I remember that I was instructed to push back the omnic presence in New York with Reinhardt since the omnium was shut down.
Before getting up from the floor, I pause, contemplating whether I should attempt to meditate once more.
A creeping fear makes me hesitate and I decide to focus on the upcoming mission instead.
I take a much needed shower before getting dressed in my usual outfit. As I exit the room, I put on my best poker face despite the doubt and anxiety that continues to plague me from the encounter with Evil Shawn.
Keeping the face, I walk into the debriefing room to find a towering man steel armor. He turns to me and I see a yong dashing face, with a scar over his left eye. There was a lock of blonde hair that almost covered his other eye and a blonde goatee.
Gabriel motions towards me, "This is the new Overwatch recruit Shawn Rose."
Reinhardt extends his hand out towards me for a handshake. " Im going to go out Shawn a limb and say that you're an exceptional young man with how you handled that omnium. Pleasure to be working with you."
As I shake his hand, cringing at the pun but it still brings a smile to my face because of the rich accent he has.
"Thanks, pleasure to work with you as well."
We settle down as Gabriel explains the gameplan. With the start of the Omnic Crisis months ago, New York wasn't completely lost, but it was a hard battle where we were losing more than the omnics.
We still were extracting civilans that were caught in the crossfire. Our job was to lead a team in to assist the teams that were already there and extract as many civilans as possible.
It was easier said than done, as reports were always coming in about how ferocious the omnics were in taking New York than other areas.
Throughout the entire meeting, my mind was in a constant state of wandering. Reinhardt took notice and approached me after the debriefing.
"You little troubled, go into fights like these with a clouded mind is never a good idea. Do you want to talk?" He asks.
His voice was convincing as I almost spilled everything to him. But, my mouth closes back as quickly as it opened. What could I say? I lost a fight to my inner evil version of myself and lost my most powerful ability and I'm probably a liability in this upcoming mission.
"No, I'm fine, I was just thinking about upcoming strageties we could do in New York." I respond.
He starts to laugh, slapping me hard on the back, "Ha ah. What other strategy could we need other than to attack them headon from the front and take them by surprise."
Finished with our conversation, he walks ahead, boarding the stratoscopter.
All the soldiers around us who are boarding the stratoscopther with us hear him and flash a worried look between themselves.
"Don't worry, he's joking." I assure them which makes them relieved. Shame they don't know that he most definitely was not joking.
On the ride to New York, the men are nervously preparing to join the fight.
I immediately knew that these guys also recruits and this was unforuntately their first fight. THey had yet to witness the miracles Overwtach could perform.
"Maybe after this war is done, we could accept Omnics as equals and coexist with them?" I raise as all the men who hear me stop what they're doing and look at me with mixed emotions.
I avert my gaze, 'Sorry Ramattra, I tried.'
From beside me S3bastian goes, "No need, we're the superiors. You pieces of meat have to coexist with us."
I roll my eyes, at least it was the same old S3bastian.
Before any soldier can respond to him, a yell from the front catches our attenition. "Everybody hold on!"
An explosion hits the back of the stratoscopter, rocking it dangerously as all of us grab the nearest thing.
"We're going down!"
I hold on to my seat belt as the plane begins to spiral out of the air.
Closing my eyes in panic, the wind is knocked out of my body as the plane crashes.

Well guys, unfortunately, I'm currently in the path of the hurricane in the east coast so I have to might have to pause the double postings for this week.
I can post the second chapter for today later, but I don't know if I'll be able to post Thursday's or Friday's chapters. If this is the case, I can extend it into next week, if I survive.
In the event that I don't survive, the story will be taken over by my brother who one tricks Pharah.
