Althea was staring at nothing in particular as her mind reeled at the possibility that Darian had killed his mate. Why? No one knew, but according to her journal, Althea saw. It may be that Carolina had discovered something she shouldn't have.

Fiona, sensing Althea's inner turmoil, approached with a gentle touch on her shoulder. "Althea, are you alright?"

A distant nod was all Fiona received in response. Althea's thoughts were a tempest of confusion and disbelief, and Fiona wisely chose to give her friend some space.

In the midst of the bustling castle preparations, Ariana joined them, a curious expression on her face. "What's going on, Althea? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Althea sighed, her eyes reflecting the storm within. "It's about Darian. Did you know he had a mate?"

They shook their heads, "Her name was Carolina and while I was in that room I saw her journal"
