As we set sail, the endless expanse of the West Blue greeted us. A beautiful sunset painted the sky with vibrant colors of orange and pink, symbolizing the start of our adventure. Gram stood beside me, gazing at the setting sun, her eyes reflecting determination and anticipation for the journey ahead.
Suddenly, my attention was caught by the sight of a ship closing in on us. A black flag, bearing a menacing Jolly Roger swayed ominously against the backdrop of the sky, signaling the presence of pirates. Their ship, a weather-beaten vessel, exuded an air of threat and defiance. The name 'Sea Wolves' was emblazoned on its side, a moniker that promised danger.
"We have company," I stated matter-of-factly, keeping my voice steady. Gram turned her gaze towards the approaching ship, anxiety flickering in her eyes. I placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, reassuring her, "Don't worry. I've got this."
As the pirates boarded our ship, their leader, a burly man with a wolf-like grin and a crisscross of scars on his face, swaggered towards us. His stance was imposing, embodying the arrogant bravado that only those with power wielded. His devilish grin revealed a set of teeth filed to points, resembling the animal his crew was named after.
"Hand over the girl and your supplies, or else your ship will be our new chew toy," he sneered, his eyes glinting maliciously. His crew howled with laughter, fueling the threatening atmosphere.
"I don't think so," I replied coolly, positioning myself between Gram and the pirates. Clenching my fists, I summoned my Observation Haki, feeling its power surge within me, guiding my actions and reactions.
With a malicious snarl, the pirate leader lunged towards me, transforming into a massive gray wolf mid-air. It was clear now; he had eaten a Zoan type Devil Fruit - the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Gray Wolf. The ensuing battle was a dance of brutality and agility, as I countered his ferocious attacks with strategic precision, using my fists and the guidance of my Observation Haki.
We clashed, our blows echoing through the ship. His sharp claws swiped at me, but I deftly dodged, my fists landing punches whenever I found an opening. With each strike, I could feel the strain on my haki, but I persevered, pushing it to its limits.
Finally, with a well-aimed punch, I managed to defeat the pirate leader, sending him sprawling onto the deck. His crew, seeing their leader taken down, fled in fear, their laughter replaced with terrified screams.
Exhausted but victorious, I felt a sudden surge within me. Checking my system, I found that my Observation Haki had leveled up to the Intermediate Level. To my surprise, the system presented me with a reward - a choice between a Devil Fruit token or a Weapon token. Recalling my decision to master fist-fighting, I chose the Devil Fruit token.
Upon selecting the token, a choice of five different Devil Fruits appeared:
Rock Rock no Mi: A Paramecia-type fruit, allows the user to control rocks and earth.
Bird Bird no Mi, Model: Thoth: A Zoan-type fruit, gives the user abilities of Thoth, the ancient Egyptian deity associated with wisdom and knowledge.
Smog Smog no Mi: A Logia-type fruit allows the user to transform, create, and control smog.
Sound Sound no Mi: A Paramecia-type fruit gives the user control over sound waves.
Shine Shine no Mi: A Logia-type fruit, it enables the user to control and become light, similar to Kizaru's Pika Pika no Mi, but much weaker.
Debating over the choices, I decided to pick the Bird Bird no Mi, Model: Thoth. I believed this fruit would be beneficial for Gram, our archaeologist, enhancing her intellectual abilities..
"I've something for you," I told Gram as I presented the fruit to her. I explained its origin, its abilities, and the cost it carried. Her eyes widened at the fruit in her hand, yet she nodded in understanding and acceptance, biting into it, ready to take on the world with her newfound power.
Just as the pirate crew was about to disappear into the horizon, a thought struck me. Pirates, especially those with a notorious reputation like the 'Sea Wolves', were likely to have hoarded quite a bit of loot in their ship. Determined to capitalize on this opportunity, I quickly maneuvered the 'Silver Wave' to chase them down.
Upon reaching their ship, I boarded it alone, leaving Gram behind on our ship for her safety. The ship was deserted, as expected. The crew had fled in haste, leaving behind a mess of personal belongings and pilfered loot.
Amidst the assorted goods, my eyes fell upon a Devil Fruit. Its swirling patterns and odd shape stood out against the drab surroundings. Curiosity piqued, I picked it up and held it up for the system to appraise.
"System," I initiated, "Can you appraise this fruit?"
A brief pause, then the emotionless voice responded, "This is the Food Food no Mi, a special Paramecia type Devil Fruit. Its strengths and weaknesses are as follows:
Strengths:
Infinite Supply: The user can generate an endless amount of food, capable of sustaining the user and others.
Enhanced Food: Any food generated by this Devil Fruit can be imbued with special properties. For instance, the food could heal wounds, boost strength, or increase stamina.
Food Constructs: The user can shape the generated food into various forms, potentially using them for defense or offense.
Weaknesses:
Standard Devil Fruit Weakness: The user is susceptible to the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses, such as being vulnerable to seawater and Seastone.
Energy Consumption: While the supply of food is infinite, the creation and control of it consume the user's energy.
Control Over Properties: The user needs to have a clear understanding and control over the properties of the food they generate."
Considering the capabilities of Food Food no Mi, it was clear that this fruit could be a valuable asset to our crew. It could ensure that we never ran out of food, and its enhanced properties could be used to our advantage during battles or emergencies. It was a remarkable find, indeed.
