Capítulo 33: marauders' map part 2
Way way WAY past Hogwarts bedtime, room of requirements, room of reading
Hours I spent here, trying to understand more about this map. The weasley twins, they knew nothing. To truly use the map, you had to be an insider. Obviously I wasn't an insider aka a marauder, but my father was. So the half potter genes more than gave me the ability to navigate the complex artifact that is this map.
To put it in simple words, it was like the entire family sharing a single Netflix account.... That wasn't a very good metaphor now was it. But you get the picture.
My eyes moved with wonder over the map. I could not believe that James Potter and his friends made this map. Thousands upon thousands of charms were placed on this map, feeding off of Hogwarts' magic. None of these charms interfered with one another creating THE most complex magical labyrinth I had ever seen (which wasn't much now that I think about it considering I haven't seen many magical artifacts).
Honestly, this single piece of paper gave me a new-found respect for the marauders. And to think James Potter wasted all that magical potential on QUIDITCH of all things sickened me. But then again, I HAD just pimped myself out to quiditch, for a permission slip to advanced books. So, fair game I guess. I shrugged.
"erase. "I uttered.
Immediately the name Harry potter on the map shined and disappeared causing me to smile. This map was insane. In fact so insane that I had legitimate reasons to believe that Dumbledore himself had tweaked with this map.
I mean I could literally see information such as a student's family background and wand details if I focused enough. Details, which were only privy to Hogwarts itself! Besides to get the names of every person who walked in Hogwarts grounds, the map had to be connected to Hogwarts. And no matter how magically good James Potter was, i don't believe he was good enough to hack into the magical monstrosity, that is Hogwarts. He needed help to achieve something like that.
But that was irrelevant right now. What was relevant right now was Peter Pettigrew. Whatever Pettigrew had done to hide himself in the map was too advanced for the current me. So I had two options here.
Option one. I could take the map directly to Dumbledore and ask him to decrypt it. But this might raise many questions. like why would I want it decrypted? How did I knew Pettigrew would be in Hogwarts? etc.
Now I didn't like an innocent man like Sirius Black rotting in azkaban. No one would. But I disliked being in someone like Dumbledore's radar even more. He was one of the good guys and I didn't want him to be wary of me.
So my obvious and only option here was option two.
I MYSELF had to decrypt it!
...
Over time....
Slowly....
....
It was a terrible plan. This would increase my already huge workload by another margin. But, in this plan my future knowledge stays intact. So that's the one I'm going with. Besides rest and good nights sleep was overrated anyway.
I threw the map to my side lazily and sighed. Fuck. I had my work cut out for me. It was going to be a LOOONG year. And this one was supposed to be the easiest! But I suddenly smiled. Even though my life was miserable, And there was dark lord teaching me, And I had to see filch tomorrow, right now I had a functioning plan. Now all I had to do, was execute it....
I smirked as my hands went into my secret pouch (why is my brain like this?). Immediately an old and tattered book was in my hands. Dark creatures: a guide.
....But for now It was time to relax, and rip the pincers off of an acromantula....
I flipped the pages quickly til I reached the animated picture of a giant spider. I face scrunched up into a scowl immediately. My eyes immediately moved devoured every bit of information.
....because now was the time for vengeance.
