Aliyah and I began to get ready for the big day ahead of us. We brushed our teeth, ate breakfast, and begun to change clothing.
"Hey Pearl? I got you a little something..." said Aliyah. It sounds interesting but I'm slightly suspicious of what it may be.
I replied with, "What is it? I'm curious." After I had said that Aliyah brought out a dress that was a deep blue colour and had a bow to match in her other hand.
"I got you a nice little outfit!" said Aliyah. I could feel my face turn red from the thought of me wearing a dress like that but since it's from Aliyah, I don't want to let her down.
And so, I waited for Aliyah to finish changing and made her leave the room. Of course I was looking the other way while she was changing. After she left I grabbed the outfit she got me and put it on. I then said, "You can come back in now..."
Aliyah walked back in the room and squealed at the sight of me. "Oh my god! You're so damn cute in that!" said Aliyah while picking me up and hugging me.
It was extremely embarrassing but I was happy that Aliyah liked seeing me in this outfit she got.
-[10 minutes later]-
Aliyah and I had grabbed our bags and left the room to say goodbye to our friends.
The first person we saw was Michael so we decided to say goodbye to him first. "Hey Michael." said Aliyah.
Michael turned in our direction after hearing Aliyah's voice and said, "Good morning." He then looked down at me and said, "That outfit...well it's...adorable."
"I know, right?" said Aliyah with a broad smile across her face.
I was already slightly embarrassed and this just made it worse. My face turned red and I looked down at the floor. Michael laughed at the sight of my embarrassment.
To be honest? With time I'll probably get used to this kind of stuff. But the "me" now won't get used to it anytime soon...I think.
"Well it's nice to see you guys before you two leave." said Michael. I noticed that Michael looked kind of sad when he said that. But it's not all that rare to be sad when someone you know is leaving to go off into the unknown world.
I was even saddened when Gabriel left for Japan for one of his travelling sprees during a summer in high school. I wanted to join him one time but I simply didn't have the time to.
I started to remember...something. I saw a television screen and Gabriel was on the news. But all of a sudden it all fuzzed out of my thoughts.
I remember Kai telling me about a "memory blocking" thing but I don't remember why he gave me it. Maybe the memory blocker is not allowing me to remember?
Well whatever it is, I don't want to remember it obviously.
"So where are you guys going to after you leave?" said Michael. I then said, "Well, we don't actually know."
Michael smiled hearing that. "Well, I guess that means you can go anywhere and have a fun time exploring!" said Michael.
Aliyah and I begun to walk away after we were done talking to Michael.
I had something I wanted to do before I left. "Hey, Aliyah? I have somewhere I need to go before we leave. You go on ahead and say goodbye to your friends. I'll meet you at the main gate!"
I began to walk away from Aliyah.
My goal was to visit someone that asked for my help a long time ago. And recently the thing they needed help finding finally was found.
-[At Mr.Lawrence's]-
I walked up to the door of Mr.Lawrence's house and knocked. A girl that was quite a bit older and taller than me opened the door. "Hello? Can I help you with something?" said the girl.
I smiled and said, "Yes. I had received word around a month ago that you were found, Claire."
A fox beastman walked up to the door and said, "Wait...Pearl? It's been a while hasn't it! How have you been?" It was Lawrence.
"Good." I replied. "I actually came over here for two things. I wanted to say goodbye since I'm leaving Rybim, and I wanted to come and finally meet your daughter."
"Is that so?" said Lawrence. "Well then. Here she is! My beautiful little girl." Claire's face turned slightly red after her father said that.
Now I know what I basically look like whilst embarrassed.
I then said, "May I talk to Claire? I kind of want to get to know her before I go." Lawrence looked at me with a smile and said, "Sure! Go right ahead!"
Claire and I then walked out into the street and we began to talk with one another. "Is there anything you would like to know specifically?" said Claire.
I gave it a thought and I came up with one question. I looked at Claire and said, "Yes. I would like to know if you are going to attend any magic universities."
Claire then replied, "Actually I am. I'll be going next month to the Magic University of Shamir. It's around a 30 day travel by cart and horse and around a 62 day trip on foot if you don't sleep or take breaks."
Shamir? I haven't heard of a city named that. "What cardinal direction is it located?" I asked.
Claire then said, "It's in the city named Shamir and Shamir is due south-eastern."
South-eastern? I guess that is my destination! I looked at Claire and said, "Well, I guess I'll head there too! I'm already planning to attend one sooner or later."
Claire then said, "Uh. Sorry to say this but you need to be at least 7 years old to attend any type of magic school or university."
Dammit. 'Hey Gem? When is my date of birth in this world?' I said in my mind. [Answer: Your body's date of natural birth is in exactly 13 days.]
13 days? That's not too long from now. "Thanks for the piece of information, Claire." I looked up at the sun to roughly check what time it was. The sun's position made it seem like it was around 12pm.
We should leave in the next 2-3 hours so we can have plenty of daylight hours to travel. I shook Claire's hand and said, "Tell your father that I wish him well! And I'll be attending the school next year so just wait for me!"
I walked towards the main gate as Claire waved goodbye with a smile.

(Aliyah POV)
I walked towards the main gate after Pearl had left to go do whatever she wanted to.
Mark was on Identification duty today and was still currently on shift. I saw Mark as I was approaching the gate and he turned over to see me.
He knocked on the door and a replacement worker came out. Which means I have 15 minutes to talk to Mark.
"Hey. How's it going?" said Mark.
It has been a few weeks since I've last talked to Mark so I have at least a little bit to tell him. I said, "It's been going good for me and Pearl. And there is something I haven't told you yet!"
Mark looked curious as to what it could be. "What is it?" said Mark.
I smiled. I then said, "Well first, I'm now a mother of one. Second, Pearl is now my daughter. Third, today is the day we leave to go on a journey of exploration."
Mark looked absolutely surprised to all of the new information I just gave him.
"Wait. The little fox girl is now your daughter? Damn. Congratulations!" said Mark. He then gestured for a high five and I went along with it. I was too short so he brought his arm down lower.
I brought my hand back down and said, "Hopefully one day Pearl and I will return here. After all, this is my home."
Mark smiled and said, "Well yeah. If you're gone for too long I'll get lonely! Michael probably feels the same as I do." I smiled after hearing those words.
"I'd miss you guys too." I said to Mark. "Hey! Markus! Your time is up! And I have to get back to checking the newest delivery!"
Our conversation was cut short by the replacement guard signifying that our 15 minutes was up. "Hey. Before I go, take this. It might just help with some aspects of your journey!" said Mark as he handed me a small pouch.
I smiled and said, "Thank you, Mark!"

(Pearl POV)
I finally got over to the main gate after I got stuck in a big crowd in the market. Mark was just walking away from Aliyah as I got over.
"What was that about?" I asked.
Aliyah turned to see me slightly out of breath from running back to her. "You surprised me, Pearl." said Aliyah.
I laughed a little because she got surprised by me. Aliyah placed her hand on my head and stroked it. Honestly? Ever since I've gained the fox-like features I've loved being petted. Maybe it's the fox part of me that likes it?
Aliyah stopped after a few seconds and said, "Mark gave me a 'goodbye' present. Let's see what it is, shall we?"
Aliyah opened a small pouch and inside was the shiny gold that I know. Gold coins. 20 of them.
"Woah. Are you sure it's okay to accept this?" I asked. Aliyah then said, "Well us Knights get paid 50 gold coins a month. And he was dead set on giving me these. I don't see any wrong in accepting a present like this?"
It was around the time we should be getting ready to leave.
-[1 hour later]-
Aliyah and I said goodbye to a few other people like the blacksmith running the shop that I got my dagger at.
We also said goodbye to Michael's father at the orphanage. He is so nice to me. I hope I can be a nice as him when I'm older...wait. I'm technically already 40! I think this child's brain and body are effecting my mental state and body language.
As Aliyah and I gathered our things and walked towards the market for one last check if we might want anything. As we begun walked through the stalls and shops set up I noticed a pendant.
It was beautiful. It was capable of holding something small like a powder of some kind. And for some reason, I wanted it. "How much for this pendant?" I asked the stall clerk.
"Oh. This one? This one here is at a good price of 1 silver coin." said the stall clerk. I reached behind my back and pulled out a single silver coin from my inventory.
I handed it to the clerk and collected my new pendant. I didn't want to put it on right away but I'll put it in my inventory. I walked away where I was hidden behind some barrels nearby and stored the pendant in my inventory.
Wait. Am I becoming more feminine? Eh. I don't really give a fuck anyways.
I then went back over to Aliyah who was at a nearby stall that had dried meats from a few different animals.
For some reason I felt like someone was watching me. I tried to focus in on that feeling and I got a system notification. [Pearl has acquired the skill "Danger Detection".]
That skill basically told me that someone here didn't like me too much. It's maybe just someone that hates beastmen, or it could be those idiot men that tried to capture me in an alleyway a while back.
Maybe they brought along their friends this time? Either way I'll kick their asses no matter how much they throw themselves at me.
I activated my new skill and it gave a sort of radius in my mind. I could detect the location of the people that gave off that feeling earlier.
There were only 2 of them so I decided to not interfere. I kept using the skill and it didn't really drain my mana much. After a little while longer, they left. Good riddance if you ask me.
There were also 2 people nearby with a familiar presence but they quickly left in the direction of the main gate.
"You okay?" Aliyah had seen that I'd just been standing there with my eyes closed. Or maybe she could sense the mana I'd been using?
"Yeah. I'm good. Also, are you able to detect mana?" I asked. "I'm able to detect only some mana. Not much but only a little." Aliyah responded.
Well that's useful. Mana detection is only available to those who can use magic. Wait. "Can you use magic?" I asked Aliyah excitedly.
"Yes. But only the beginner stuff." said Aliyah.
Still that's good! Shit. It's about time to go. I looked at Aliyah and said, "It's going to start getting late by the time we leave at this pace."
"I suppose you're right about that, Pearl." Aliyah agreed.
-[Near the main gate]-
"What are you guys all doing here?" said Aliyah.
Michael, Mark, Michael's father, and two other women were at the gate as if they were waiting for us to appear.
Wait. I know those two girls. "Mary. Harley. How have you been? Have you come back to fight again?" I said.
Mary and Harley both looked sorry. I guess even they can fix themselves, huh?
Mary walked towards me and said, "It's...Pearl, right? I'm sorry. I used to despise other races. But after I was fired from the Knights I found love. And the man I fell in love with was a fox type beastmen just like you. His name was Lawrence."
Wait, Lawrence?! Damn. I guess even he can find love again. I never told anyone else this but Lawrence's wife had died 6 years ago.
I looked at Mary and said, "Good for you. He's a good man. But more importantly, are you open to be on friendly terms with me?"
I was optimistic that she'd had changed within three last months. Mary looked at me and smiled. "Of course. Now that I can look at you, you're quite the adorable fluff ball."
I got embarrassed from being called a "fluff ball."
Aliyah laughed a little. As did Michael. Harley begun to walk up and say, "I'm also sorry, Aliyah. You were injured by a piece of shit like me. Could you find it in my heart to forgive me?"
I looked up at Aliyah's face and she said, "Me personally? Fuck no. But since Pearl can forgive Mary, I can somewhat forgive you. But don't thank me, thank Pearl."
Harley smiled and she didn't talk anymore. She looked at me with a smile and I reciprocated the smile at her.
"So, is everyone alright now?" said Michael. I then said, "Yes. I think so."
After a few more words and some hugs Aliyah and I walked towards the gate. The world is waiting for us to explore. All the places in the world are waiting for me to go to them
"Well then, we're off now!" Aliyah and I smiled and walked off after saying this together.
Looking back, Michael and everyone were waving to us. I waved back one last time.
Today marks a new chapter in my life. And nothing is going to ruin it! Watch out world, here I come!
That sounded cooler in my head. But I do mean it. May this new life of exploration pay off!
This is the vol.2 finale. Vol.3 might start soon or it might be a while...I'm truly sorry. This is also the longest chapter yet with a whopping 2641 words.
