Capítulo 60: Michael (9)

As Michael meanders towards the BlendOasis, the sky above him subtly transforms into a rich tapestry of deepening hues.

The final vestiges of daylight tenaciously cling to the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow that stands in stark contrast to the encroaching twilight.

The air surrounding him is cool and crisp, carrying with it the faint, nostalgic scent of autumn leaves intermingled with the distant, enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

The gentle rustle of footsteps on the pavement harmonizes with the distant hum of traffic, weaving a soothing symphony that accompanies his leisurely stroll.

Upon stepping inside the BlendOasis, Michael is greeted by the mesmerizing glow of beautiful, bright lights.

With only a few patrons scattered throughout the establishment, he saunters towards a familiar figure in the distance his elder sister, Ashley, engaged in animated conversation with two stunning women, her friends.

As he approaches, the friends' gazes are irresistibly drawn to him, seemingly bewitched by his striking visage. Their eyes remain transfixed, unwilling to part from his captivating presence.

Sensing their attention, Ashley follows their line of sight and her eyes brim with joy upon recognizing her brother's approach.

"My bagger has arrived!" Ashley coughed, quickly correcting herself. "I mean, my brother."

Observing her friends lingering gazes, captivated by her brother's presence, she assumed a deadpan visage. "Excuse me, Trixie and Kimberly, but are you two quite all right?"

Jolted from their reverie, Trixie and Kimberly exchanged sheepish glances.

Kimberly, attempting to regain her composure, remarked, "It's rather sweltering, isn't it?"

Meanwhile, Trixie stammered nervously, "Oh, I'm sorry, Ashley. What did you just say?"

As her brother gracefully approached their table, Ashley gestured for Michael to take a seat beside her.

Upon taking his seat, Michael nonchalantly pushed up the sleeve of his sweat shirt, unveiling a network of prominent veins that crisscrossed his hand.

With a voice that was both tender and resonant, he extended a warm greeting to the two captivating women before him. "Hello, Kimberly and Trixie. It has been quite a while since our last encounter."

Trixie and Kimberly scrutinized Michael's hand with great intensity, their gazes captivated by the strikingly prominent veins and his remarkably elongated fingers. They couldn't help but swallow hard, momentarily entranced by the sight.

However, upon noticing Ashley, whose eyes bore an unsettling, lifeless glint, they quickly regained their composure and refocused their attention.

Trixie spoke up, "It's been quite some time, Michael."

Kimberly began, "You've become more hand-" but upon catching sight of Ashley, she continued with a forced smile, "taller than the last time I saw you."

Michael mustered a subtle smile, and just as he was about to articulate a response, Ashley playfully jabbed his shoulder with a feeble punch.

Bewildered, Michael cast a quizzical gaze upon her, seeking an explanation for her unexpected action.

"Show some courtesy," Ashley admonished her brother.

"But last time they insisted I address them by their names, without any honorifics," Michael replied composedly.

Upon noticing Ashley's gaze shifting towards her friends, they hastily looked away, feigning indifference while casually whistling to the side. Her eyebrow quivered involuntarily, and she exhaled a resigned sigh.

"Why are you wearing that eyeglasses with the chain thingy?" Ashley inquired, studying her brother with a puzzled expression. "Your eyesight is perfectly fine, isn't it?"

"Isn't it just a style?" Michael responded, tilting his head as if it were common sense. "Doesn't it suit me?"

Ashley conceded, "It's quite nice, actually." Kimberly and Trixie nodded in agreement.

As she scrutinized her brother's appearance, she offered some additional advice, "However, I would suggest steering clear of vibrant colored accessories. Opting for a more subdued hue would accentuate your features more effectively. Also, a delicate touch of light blush on your cheeks would provide the perfect finishing touch."

Michael nodded thoughtfully, taking his sister's advice into consideration.

"Anyway," Ashley continued, her voice taking on a more urgent tone, "We mustn't delay any further. The night has descended and our mother has already sent a message to me."

She looked at her friends, "Kimberly, Trixie, you two are still planning to visit us at the house next week, right?"

Kimberly and Trixie exchanged glances before nodding in unison.

As the group gracefully rose to their feet, Michael extended his arm to retrieve the exquisitely wrapped shopping bag, which housed Ashley's latest acquisition. The bag had been carefully placed beneath her chair, partially concealed from view.

They were on the verge of stepping out of the BlendOasis when Katherine interjected.

"Wait, Michael," she implored, her eyes alight with excitement. "Before we part ways, could we capture a cherished moment together in a photograph?"

Trixie chimed in, her voice filled with enthusiasm, "I'd like that too - a snapshot of just the two of us."

Michael glanced at his older sister, who took the shopping bag from his hand and stepped back to create some distance, patiently waiting for them to finished.

"Very well," Michael replied, his smile delicate and faint.

Once they had captured the moment with a photograph, Trixie spoke up. "Until we meet again next week, Michael."

Kimberly chimed in, her eyes gleaming with determination. "I'd like to request a rematch in chess."

Michael offered a subtle nod, his smile growing warmer. "I'm eagerly anticipating it."

With heartfelt farewells, they each went their separate ways. Michael collected the shopping bag from Ashley, and together, they embarked on their journey home.

Under the cloak of the star studded night, the siblings made their way home, the cool evening breeze whispered through the trees, gently caressing their necks and sending chills to their bodies.

As they strolled along the cobblestone path, Ashley's eyes were irresistibly drawn to the vibrant glow of the nearby shop lights.

Their incandescent brilliance danced upon the surrounding surfaces, casting a kaleidoscope of colors that mingled with the warm, golden glow of the antique street lamps.

In that moment, a spark of inspiration ignited within her.

Coming to an abrupt halt, Ashley excitedly declared, "Let's try the oldest dance trend on FlickFlow, Michael!"

Michael's face remained stoic, his expression deadpan as he replied, "It's already late, Sister Ashley. We can indulge in such frivolities tomorrow."

However, Ashley was insistent. She playfully tugged at Michael's arm, her enthusiasm unwavering.

With a resigned sigh, Michael relented, allowing his sister to lead him into the world of dance.

Elevating her cellphone on a slightly higher plane to capture a video of their entwined forms, Ashley meticulously set the stage for their performance.

Curious, Michael inquired, "Which song shall we dance to?"

With a mischievous glint in her eyes, Ashley responded, "The Running Man Challenge," as she deftly pressed the button to activate the timer, setting the countdown in motion.

Acknowledging her choice, Michael gave a subtle nod of approval. Ashley then joined him, her face radiating with unbridled excitement and anticipation.

As the music commenced, they expertly positioned themselves just as the infectious chorus began to play.

Their feet moved in a rhythmic, almost hypnotic pattern, gliding and stomping in sync with the pulsating beat of the catchy tune. Their arms swung in perfect harmony, adding a playful and spirited flair to the dance.

Executing each step with unwavering precision and enthusiasm, Ashley's eyes sparkled with a mesmerizing blend of concentration and pure joy.

Meanwhile, Michael offered a subtle yet genuine smile, his focus evident as they both stole glances at the camera, ensuring their performance was immortalized in the digital realm.

After their exhilarating dance, Ashley eagerly reviewed the video she had just captured on her phone. Her eyes sparkled with anticipation, but her expression soon turned deadpan as she glanced over at Michael.

He was casually observing a nearby boutique, seemingly lost in thought.

As he slowly turned his gaze toward her, she seized the opportunity to snap a candid photo of him, the flash catching him completely off guard.

"What was that for?" Michael inquired, his eyebrows raised in surprise.

"Look at this!" Ashley exclaimed, thrusting her cellphone toward him.

Michael studied the image on the screen, his eyes narrowing in concentration. "Yeah... that's me. What's the problem?"

Ashley shook her head, her eyes wide with incredulity. "How is it even possible? You were totally unprepared, yet you still look so aesthetically pleasing. What kind of sorcery is this?"

Michael shrugged, a bemused smile playing on his lips. "I have no idea what you're talking about, but we should really head home now."

With a click of her tongue, Ashley strode ahead, her footsteps echoing on the pavement. Michael followed suit, and together they continued on their journey home.

Standing majestically before their residence, Michael and Ashley found themselves greeted by an exquisite feline creature, its fur a luxurious shade of gray.

The cat, adorned with an elegant collar encircling its neck, appeared to be patiently anticipating its owner's return.

Upon noticing Michael, the sophisticated feline glided gracefully towards him, its tail held aloft in a display of affection.

As it drew nearer, the soothing purr resonating from its throat permeated the air, and its eyes, with pupils dilated in sheer excitement, became transfixed upon Michael's gaze.

The cat's soft, velvety paws stretched gently against the fabric of Michael's trousers, caressing his calf as if yearning to be cradled in his arms, just as it had grown accustomed to.

As it did so, the feline emitted a melodic meow, further expressing its desire for Michael's tender embrace.

Michael carefully scooped the cat into his arms, cradling it tenderly as he stroked its soft fur with a gentle touch.

"What on earth?" Ashley exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Grey never acted like that with me. Did you slip him some sort of nefarious food to make him behave this way?"

Michael stared at Ashley, his expression a mixture of incredulity and bewilderment.

He found her irrational accusation utterly baffling and had no desire to engage in a pointless debate. Silently, he pivoted towards the entrance, the doorbell chiming as he stepped inside.

"Hey, I'm still asking you a question!" Ashley called out, trailing after him.

Their mother caught sight of her children and greeted them with a warm, welcoming smile.

"Welcome home," she said, her voice filled with affection.

Upon seeing his mother's smile, Michael's lips curved into a faint, yet genuine smile.

"We're back," he replied softly.
