Capítulo 25: The Rotten Woman

Esmeralda lost her ability to speak. She was stunned once she heard Roxana's difficult request. Her pupils moved sideways as she was unable to maintain her gaze on Roxana.

"My Lady ... I don't have any courage to do that."

News of the Duke of Oberon's death had already spread to Oakshade Village, so it was only natural that Esmeralda was able to understand Roxana's true intentions. She wanted to use Esmeralda as a spear to force Rosaline out of the prospective head of the Oberon.

However, Esmeralda never wanted to deal with politics or show her face in court.

"Why?" asked Roxana patiently. She watched Esmeralda's every move as she seemed agitated. "You only need to testify before the jury, and I will guarantee your safety until the end."

"It's not just because of that ...."

Esmeralda hung her words because she felt at a loss as to what to answer. In Roxana's eyes, she felt scared because she had to face Rosaline Oberon, whose reputation was higher and better than Roxana's.
