Eve did not think about that.

"Do you think they can hear us?" She also forgot that the ones inside the tavern were individuals of various races.

"No, they cannot."

"Do you think I should make myself appear… paler?" Eve asked. "Perhaps, alter my appearance a bit?"

"Now, why would you alter your appearance?" He really looked quite curious and amused at the same time.

"To make them think I am a vampire too."

Max chuckled, his deep voice somehow sent shivers down her spine. Then he reached out and touched her hand, letting his fingers tap the back of her palm.

"There is no need for that," Max said.

"Why not?"

"Because they were right."

"Hm?"

"I intend to… devour you very soon."

"You—" Eve felt her face turn so hot as if her face was about to explode.

Her reaction, however, only made him laugh even more. His laughter was rich and infectious, filling the cozy tavern corner.
