The loss of two of their number caused the pursuing Decepticons to slow and reevaluate their strategy. This gave those they were pursuing time to exit the freeway and enter the city. There being no direct access to the military complex on the other side, the convoy would have to negotiate some of the city's poorer outskirts before clear access and additional freeway allowed them to enter the air force base.
The alternative was go a dangerously long way around. As they entered an area of the city speckled with small stores and family businesses, Lennox directed the driver of his vehicle to pull over and park. While pedestrians gaped at and commented on the decidedly odd mix of military and civilian vehicles, Lennox raced around to the driver's side of the idling Camaro. Epps was close on his heels while Sam looked up at him in confusion.
Alexander yelled."We can get the radios from the pawn shop nearby."
Lennox nodded and replied."Good idea."
"Gimme a second to find an old radio!" Lennox yelled in at the two youths. "We need to be able to relay our position."
It didn't take long after Lennox rejoined the others for Epps to make relay contact with the scrambled flight from Nellis. It was a strange way to communicate—CB radio to field relay to base to aircraft—but it worked.
If there was one thing the military was good at, it was battlefield improvisation. Especially when not too many officers were involved. "Aircraft circling city, this is on-site. How copy? Can you track our position?"
The only reply was static. Then a low whine became audible. Coming in low and fast, the F-22 Raptor passed directly overhead, a lot lower and closer than anyone in the FAA would have countenanced.
As it thundered past, Lennox turned to follow its progress. "The air force has arrived! Confirm our position." A couple of the soldiers fired flares. It was immediately evident that they had been observed, as the jet began to circle back. Cheers erupted from the troops in the line of vehicles.
"Raptor flight," Epps said into the CB, "we're five klicks south of the tallest building passed on your recent flyover. We have you visual—your heading returning to our position, over." He clicked the switch on the CB, hopeful of a response and verbal confirmation this time. But there was still only—static. The fighter kept coming, dipping lower as it approached. Within the convoy, shapes shifted, bodies morphed as pickup and eighteen-wheeler, sports car and Camaro and emergency vehicle swiftly transformed. They did not need to consult with the humans in their midst to know that something was wrong.
Ironhide yelled."It's Starscream."
"Jazz, Bumblebee," Ironhide rumbled, "flanking positions!"
Jazz loped to one side as the Raptor came on, impossibly low, and—unleashed missiles straight at the convoy. "Nooo!" Lennox howled as he dove to one side.
Starscream fired several times as its targets scattered for whatever cover they could find. Heedless of their own exposure, Bumblebee and Ironhide picked up and flipped a nearby heavy truck in front of the convoy to shield the unprotected humans.
Alexander told EVA."Activate Turbo armor base mode."
As nano tech formed around his body the turbo base mode is a full-body armor that takes the form of a close-fitting, black-white-blue suit. The suit appears to be constructed from a techno-organic material, offering complete protection across his entire body.
The suit is primarily black and white with striking blue accents. The base of the suit is black, covering the chest plate, shoulders, arms, legs, and boots.
White sections prominently appear on the chest plate, likely offering enhanced protection or containing technological functions. Vivid blue accents energize the design. These include the core within the chest plate, stripes running down the arms and legs, accents on the gloves and boots, and likely the visor of the helmet
Alexander ran forward and created two translucent energy shields one the covered Mikaela, Lenox, Epps and other soldier and the other was for Bumblebee and Ironhide, but the issue was to cover up both sides he had to use a lot energy. So the shield is not super powerful.
The energy shields blocked one of the missile. But force was too much as another missile broke the shield and Alexander was thrown back by the blast.
The third missile struck the truck and sheared it in half. Bumblebee was catapulted backward, one of his legs torn away. The hideous squeal of metal sliding over cement accompanied him as he finally tumbled to a stop. Knocked free by the blast, the Allspark went bouncing onto the asphalt. The combination of the impact and the concussion from the missile strike caused it to release a short-range shock wave that swept over everything within the wave's effective radius —including any and all electromechanical devices.
Out on the pavement, Lennox dragged himself out of the debris. His gut instinct was to find a weapon and start fighting back.
But seeing the two teens who had been put in his charge, he instead hurried over and saw Alexander in some sort of advanced armour.
Alexander got up and helped Mikaela climb free of the wreckage.
Around them the street had turned into a war zone. Water fountained from a broken fire hydrant. Lying off to one side and close by, Bumblebee's shattered leg trailed twisted metal.
"Bumblebee." Alexander 's eyes widened in horror as the full extent of the damage to his friend became apparent.
He quickly saw Bumblebee's leg in distance quickly brought it close and used his nanotech help speed up patch up for As Bumblebee's leg starts fusing itself back to BB's body ... nano-cells regenerating. But it will take time for him to be battle ready, he can move, but not fully battle ready.
While Lenox wirh Epps was hiding behind destroyed road for cover, he looked up and said."What the hell was that?"
Epps in anger replied
"What are you talking about?"
Lennox pointed up and said." What do you mean, what am I talking about? They shot at us!"
Epps answered."F-22 pilots would never fly below buildings. That's alien. That ain't friendly!"
Epps them turned looking at Alexander and Mikaela abd muttered."And what kind of advanced tech is that!!"
Lennox wasn't sure and replied."Probably something the robots gave him for protection."
The soldiers spread out Lennox pulls the CB out from debris and shouts."This is Sergeant William Lennox, we're under heavy fire -- does anyone copy?!"
There's a long pause then a pilots voice unintelligible with interference, comes over." Army Black Hawk inbound to your location. Over."
Epps nodded and replied through radio
."Alpha two seven three degrees, ten miles. November Victor, one point two clicks north."
Lennox then got up and ordered."Whoah!"? Move out! Let's go!"
The ground shook as a previously undetected Decepticon came rumbling around a corner. Cloaked in the persona of an Abrams tank, it flattened unoccupied cars beneath its massive treads as it trundled forward.
A couple of the small-armed Sector Seven vehicles charged at the advancing tank, firing their mounted weapons. Instead of artillery shells, pulse blasts erupted from the armored behemoth. Both charging vehicles were hit, knocked engine-over-exhaust, to explode when they hit the ground. Looking on, Lennox could only grind his teeth in frustration. Commandos formed a tight, protective group around the two teens. With only small arms to defend themselves there was little they could do against the oncoming Abrams—but they were determined to do what they could. They did not have to deal with the tank.
