My heart was beating normally now.

Well, as normal as it could in the current situation.

The air had turned colder than before, and I soke up all warmth from Ares.

He was leaning back on the rough surface of the tree with me nestled in his arms. My back laid on his hard chest, all muscles, and his arms hugged me from the sides with his one hand resting on my lap while the other twirled my hair around his fingers.

I traced the lines on his palm, and the protruding veins that made me weak in the knees even while laying down.

Our position felt more intimate than the almost kiss from before.

My heart thundered as I recalled the moment, and it started its irregular palpitations.

"Will you hear me out?" I asked him while pressing his long fingers. Then I flattened my palm on his and gaped in awe at how small my own hand was to his.

"Always, my Queen."

My lips stretched into a grin when I felt his lips touch the back of my head.
