Alicia felt a heaviness in her heart. Gently, she raised her hand to touch Louis' pale face and asked, "Why didn't your assistant tell me what really happened?"

Louis took her cold hand in his, saying, "I didn't want you to worry. After they pump my stomach and I get some rest, I'll be okay to go home."

"Staying silent only makes me worry more."

He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it softly. "You're pregnant and emotional. I didn't want to add to your stress. I never thought someone would take pictures and make it a big deal."

Alicia hesitated, then asked, "What was Madelyn doing in your room?"

Disgust flashed in Louis' eyes. "She's lost it. I kicked her out after she was here for just a few minutes."

"Who drugged you?"

Louis' eyes darkened. "I told my assistant to check the hotel's security footage. Whoever did this is connected to Madelyn somehow."
