"I'm okay, really. Let's get some sleep." Louis reached over to turn off the bedside lamp.

Alicia looked at his handsome face for a bit. In the dark, his features seemed even more mysterious, like a deep ocean. Beneath the calm surface, it felt as if wild waves were hiding.

Alicia thought quietly to herself. After a moment, she whispered, "Chuck's family history book was brought to Treasure Trove for me to fix up. If you don't want me to do it, I'll give it back to him tomorrow and let him find someone else."

Louis answered casually, "No need, just do it. It's your job."

"But I feel like you're not happy about it."

"I'm happy," Louis said, his tone strangely flat and uninterested.

It didn't sound like he was happy at all. Alicia took a deep breath and said, "Just tell me what to do, and I'll do whatever you say."

"I'll change my attitude. You do what you need to do," he replied.
