In the morning, the sound of her alarm clock which was the screeching of an unhappy cuckoo bird forced Chi Lian to open her eyes. She slapped the alarm clock away with so much energy that it flew into the wall and a few bits of it's fragile light wood frame broke off. But the alarm clock quieted down just as she wanted.
"Stop making noise." a female voice next to her complained.
The complainant then pulled the covers up over her head.
The complainant was none other than Xue Lili who Chi Lian was trying to remember how she ended up in bed with.
She could hardly concentrate on recalling the events of the past night when she had this slight sharp ache in her head and a bitter taste in her mouth.
"I need to brush my teeth." she groaned.
Her intention was to get up, brush her teeth and take a pain killer but her feet refused to move. It was though the warmth of her covers was tying her down with a rope that just wouldn't budge.
