Jun Muyang jumped away from Chi Lian as if he had been scalded by hot water.
"Y-You-why?" he tried to come up with the right words to say and failed, He was heaving and pointing at little Mei-Mei.
Chi Lian turned around and saw her daughter standing at door. The little smooth walker had somehow managed to follow her all the way to Jun Muyang's house without her noticing.
"En, Mei-Mei, how did you get here?" Chi Lian picked her off the floor and carried her. She looked outside to see if any of her family members had come along with Mei-Mei but there was no one.
Jun Muyang was still looking at this mother- daughter pair like they were vipers about to strike at him. "Wenzhe, why are you letting random people into my house?" he asked coldly. He was wearing a frown on his face and looked more than unhappy.
His day had been filled with unnecessary phone calls from friends, family and strangers who had all seen his pictures on the internet. Try as he might, he had failed to trace the origin of the paparazzo the mighty little peep star. If he ever got his hands on that person, he would strangle them so hard!
"I didn't let them in, they pushed their way in." Wenzhe tried to defend himself. He appeared to be so aggrieved because he was wrongly accused.
"So you could not stop it from coming in." he pointed at Mei-Mei.
Chi Lian glared at him, "Her name is Mei-Mei not it." She snapped.
She may want Jun Muyang but she would not tolerate even the slightest finger pointing or name calling at her daughter.
"A-da," Mei-Mei clapped her hands and screamed loudly while looking at Jun Muyang.
Jun Muyang's eyes widened in shock and he looked at Chi Lian angrily, "Did you teach her how to say that?"
"Absolutely not, she has good taste in men, just like her mother." She winked at Jun Muyang.
"Well make her stop." He eyed the toddler that had yet to take her eyes off of him. It was like her wide chocolate eyes followed him in every direction he moved.
"Why should I? She must have sensed something about you to call you that. You will make a wonderful father." She laughed. Clearly, she was teasing him because he appeared to be so frightened by the presence of the harmless baby. "Come on; try to carry your daughter."
She held Mei-Mei out to him.
Once more, he jumped further away and hissed.
"Get out." He ordered.
"Not before you accept my dinner invitation." Chi Lian was finally getting her revenge on him for teasing her in the gym.
Jun Muyang crossed both of his arms over his chest. He smiled and smirked.
"You have guts woman." He said.
"It's simple, we go for dinner or I and Mei-Mei take a tour of your house. Her little sticky fingers will touch all your expensive furniture. Imagine that!"
"You will regret this." He warned. His voice was dangerously low. The glint in his eyes promised danger and excitement. Rather than worry, she could feel her blood boiling, he was a beast and she, the beast tamer.
Confidently, she replied, "And I will absolutely relish the opportunity to decide that on my own."
"Humph." Jun Muyang sneered, "It will be your funeral."
"And what an awesome one it will be."
"Then set the date, Wenzhe will communicate on my availability."
"I would rather have your personal phone number; if you don't give it to me I have ways of getting it on my own."
Jun Muyang had never been challenged so much by a woman. She had the ability to anger him one minute and then amuse him the next. She was a wild card, a beautiful, sexy wild card that he was afraid he would break if he got involved with her.
"Then find it on your own." He turned around and went upstairs.
"Tomorrow, don't go out. It's a safety thing." She said hurriedly before he could completely disappear around the corner.
Chi Lian smiled softly. This man was like a wall and she intended to scale it one block at a time. The harder it was to scale, the more she desired it. Victory would be sweet.
"I will send you a text Wenzhe." Chi Lian walked out of the house.
Wenzhe who had just watched the entire drama was still standing at the entrance of the house with his mouth wide open. In all the seven years that he had been working for Jun Muyang he had never seen him give into any kind of threat.
His grandfather the great general Jun Mengzi had threatened to disown him if he didn't agree to marry the daughter of his old friend and Jun Muyang had told him to do as he pleased. In fact, for three months he did not step one foot into the family ancestral home. His grandfather had to come and plead with him to go home again.
Right from his childhood, he was known as the man with an iron will. Nobody could make him do something he did not desire. So why was he giving in to this woman? And why was her baby calling him daddy? Could he have a secret love child! Perhaps that could explain why he gave in to this woman's whims.
Wenzhe pulled out his phone and sent a text,
Wenzhe: The young master is going on a date with that woman from next door.
General: What!
Wenzhe: I think the young master has a secret love child with her.
General: That bastard! How old is the child?
Wenzhe: Almost two years old.
General: I want to meet the child.
Wenzhe: I will find a way to lure the child over when the two of them are on their date.
Thanks to Wenzhe and his big mouth, the Jun household was now on fire. Grandpa Jun rushed to find his wife and inform her that their grandson was keeping a woman and a child outside the house. He was hiding their grandchild from them.
The old lady was so angry that she called Jun Muyang's father and scolded him for being an irresponsible father who had disappointed his oldest son so much that he did not want to bring his wife and grandchild home.
Chi Lian got home and found her brothers scrambling to get up from the floor. She immediately guessed what happened. They were spying on her and tripped over themselves when she was making her way back to the house.
She glanced at her father who was pretending to be absorbed in the evening news.
"Father, Mei-Mei followed me outside, you should watch her closely especially because she can walk. You know how dangerous it is out there, children are being kidnapped."
Her father looked so guilty and embarrassed, "I am sorry Chi-Chi, I was distracted for a little bit and she escaped. I will be more careful."
"I know dad. I understand."
"I am going to take a bath before we have dinner, watch her." She handed Mei-Mei to her father and went to her room.
Earlier on in the day, she had noticed that T4's energy level bar had gone from red to orange. This was a clear indicator that she had moved up one level so she wanted to check and see what rewards she had harvested from leveling up.
But as she checked, she noticed that her wealth and popularity points which had gone up to ten percent were now at 0.9%.
"T4, what happened to my points?"
The sly little fox replied slowly, "I was hungry, so I got myself some food."
Chi Lian wanted to smack the little fox around.
"You are a virtual pet, not a physical one, why do you need to feed?"
"Because I am a pet, we eat food just like physical pets. It's just that I eat virtual food." He pointed at a box that was labeled pet food.
"Shouldn't I be the one to decide if I want to buy you food or not?"
The embarrassed little fox drooped its ears and widened its eyes. It wanted to appear as adorable as possible.
"I am sorry host; I won't make such a decision on my own again."
Chi Lian sighed and looked at the adorable fox, she forgave it because it was simply too cute. "What rewards did I get after leveling up?"
"Two more drones, three liquid nutrient drinks, five energy capsules, three inspiration capsules, one network long range receiver, one Taser for protection and a toy bunny."
"What is that nutrient solution, receiver and the Taser?"
The nutrient solution is food for when you are hungry on the job but cannot get something to eat, the inspiration capsules help you find an untold newsworthy story anywhere in the world, the network receiver makes sure that your news can be covered over long distances without breakage no matter what, the Taser is for your protection in your line of work and the toy is a gift from my former owner for Mei-Mei."
