Capítulo 22: Chapter 22 A Fateful Reunion

"You're right, but let's also stay prepared. Those wolves might still be lurking nearby," another replied cautiously.

Karv, a man in the group, was approached by someone who sought clarification. "Karv, is this the person you were talking about?" the man inquired.

Karv nodded solemnly. "Yes. We brought Veer here to evaluate his eligibility for membership in our Fire of Magic guild. However, those wretched demon wolves attacked us, and Veer ingested a forbidden medicine to protect us. He risked his life to ensure our escape," Karv explained, his voice filled with gratitude. "Thanks to him, we were able to find a way out of that perilous situation."

"Karv, you made the right decision to seek help. If you had stayed here, none of you may have returned alive," the person whom Veer recognized said to Karv.

"Sir, we should remain prepared for a fight. I have a feeling those demon wolves won't just let us pass," Karv replied, his voice filled with concern. "And, sir, I apologize for what happened."

The person Karv was conversing with happened to be the leader of their guild. He was responsible for testing and evaluating new warriors of Rank 1 in the Battle Mages Alliance. Coincidentally, he had come across Veer's resume two days ago while reviewing the applications of potential recruits in his office. Intrigued by Veer's profile, he immediately responded to Veer's request, realizing this was the same individual he had intended to meet but had been unable to due to Veer's meditation session.

However, the guild leader now had a specific objective in mind. He needed to assess whether Veer was truly capable of defeating a wild monster or merely a show-off who lacked real combat skills. In light of this, he had dispatched Curve, Jack, and Aisa to protect Veer during his trial. Little did Dhruv, the guild leader, anticipate that Veer would end up saving them instead—a twist he had not foreseen.

Dhruv silently contemplated the unexpected turn of events, reflecting on how Veer had chosen to confront the very dangers he was meant to avoid.

After some time, Veer and Dhruv's group arrived at Veer's location, their eyes widening in disbelief at the sight before them. Veer's once formidable battle suit lay in tatters, charred and destroyed by the forces unleashed during his encounter. Though his body bore a few minor cuts, the wounds seemed to be healing gradually, a testament to Veer's resilience.

"Veer, are you alright?" Karv asked with genuine concern. "If you don't mind, I have a question I'd like to ask."

Veer turned to face Karv, a weary but determined expression on his face. "Ask away," he replied, his voice steady.

Curiosity gleamed in Karv's eyes as he posed his question. "I'm just curious, how did you manage to escape from those wolves?"

A knowing smile touched Veer's lips as he recalled the harrowing moments. "You were right to assume that I resorted to enhancing my strength and speed with a forbidden substance," he began. "I made a swift decision to flee in the opposite direction, engaging in a fierce battle with the relentless pack. However, as if in response to our clash, lightning erupted from the sky, striking down the wolves with its electrifying fury. Yet, I, too, was caught in the midst of the storm. Seeking refuge behind a sturdy tree, I sought shelter from the relentless bolts. Alas, even the tree's protection proved fleeting, and that's how I found myself in this battered state," Veer recounted, his words tinged with both awe and determination.

The group listened attentively, their admiration for Veer's courage and resourcefulness evident in their eyes.

As Veer's gaze landed on the figure standing behind Karv, he could make out the man's face even in the dimly lit surroundings. With the camp set up, Veer approached the familiar face, striking up a conversation.

"I remember you. You were the one who administered my Warrior Test in the Battle Mages Alliance," Veer exclaimed, a tinge of surprise in his voice.

Dhruv nodded, a smile forming on his lips. "Indeed, I am that person. I am Dhruv, the leader of the Fire of Magic guild. I provided you with my contact information after you successfully passed the power test. I had hoped you would reach out, as I wanted to extend an invitation for you to join our guild," Dhruv explained.

Veer's expression turned apologetic as he realized his neglect. "I apologize, sir. At that time, I was deeply engrossed in my cultivation and it slipped my mind," Veer admitted.

Dhruv waved off the apology with a dismissive gesture. "No need to apologize. It appears that fate has brought you into our guild regardless. Haha," Dhruv chuckled, a sense of destiny in his voice.

Taking a moment to reflect, Veer's curiosity got the better of him. "By the way, sir, if you don't mind me asking, what brings a warrior of your rank—Rank 6—to a forest infested with creatures of only Rank 2? It surprises me to see you here," Veer inquired.

Dhruv listened intently to Veer's words, his gaze fixed on him. He then leaned closer to Veer, speaking in a hushed voice. "Veer, I am actually tracking someone here. This person is a murderer who attempted to kill a student from the Warrior School. Although the student's life was spared, they have fallen into a coma. The school is affiliated with the Battle Mages Alliance, which is why a reward of 10 lakhs has been offered for the capture of the murderer. Additionally, the student's family will receive a monthly subsidy of 10,000 star dollars. Furthermore, a new rule has been established that imposes severe penalties, including life imprisonment or the death sentence, on anyone who attempts to harm a family member of a warrior affiliated with the Battle Mages Alliance."

Veer's eyes widened with surprise as he absorbed this information. He turned his gaze towards Dhruv and asked inquisitively, "Dhruv, is this the same Aubrey family you mentioned? The one known as the Magician family?"
