4% Reincarnation of a Failed Author: I Hate Clichés / Chapter 4: New Beginnings, III

Capítulo 4: New Beginnings, III

"Helis!" My mother called out as she took hold of me, she crouched on her knees as tears streamed across her face.

My father had a stern look and seemed to be covered in grazes and wounds.

"What?" I said with difficulty, acting as if I didn't know what happened, which was true.

I only saw a bolt of light taking over our whole house, and the next instant I was in a different subspace, talking to someone who screamed powerful vibes.

Now, when I returned here, I come to see that I'm the only one who is uninjured here, while my father seemed to protect my mother.

"I thought I lost you, I thought I lost you…" My mother, Abelie, repeated again and again while strengthening her grip around me, making me feel a little suffocated.

But it's alright, I can take it.

The pain of my previous life was nothing against the pain and shock she must've felt.

I have enough human decency to know when someone feels worried, so I know it would've caused them an eternal wound if I had died.

But everything's fine at the end of the day, no, better than fine. I got some information on the whole magic system which will prove quite useful and fruitful if I use it and begin training from now on.

In most novels and animes, normal children awaken naturally by the age of seven or something like that, but thankfully, like another overused trope, I will be able to break through these weak chains and increase the amount of potential I'll have to be powerful.

And of course, to create a wonderful story against this world.

"What should we do about this…" My father, Lyle, spoke in between huffs.

Something like water trickling could be heard, it was either small rocks of debris falling from the second floor, or just normal water, as I mentioned.

"It doesn't matter," Abelie said, still holding me tight to her chest, "It's enough we survived. We survived it…"

"Who would've thought that a storm would appear at such time, but thankfully, Helis is safe…" He trailed off as he slowly shifted his head to the sky, rain was pouring down already. "Thank you, God." He closed his eyes as he showed his gratitude to the creator of everything.

"Survive?" I repeated.

I could use this as good reasoning to begin talking, the only assumption they can make is that the beam of light did something to me.

"Huh?" My mother squinted her eyes after hearing my word.

"Survive?" I stuttered, trying to act as if I'm having difficulties and learning a new word.

My mother brought her hands to her mouth, gasping.

My father was straight-up speechless and slack-jawed.

I looked between them, alternating my gaze.

Bwahaha, those reactions are priceless.

This whole scene feels kind of cringy so I'll try to be as casual as possible considering its killing me from the inside and you're probably feeling insane second-hand embarrassment.

"Ah…" My mother's body fell to the ground as she had finally relaxed after the [Story Storm], letting go of me.

I stood on my own two feet while trying to soften her fall.

"Shit…!" I cursed as I failed to do so, falling together with her.

"Where'd you learn such a word you worrisome kid?" My father said as he approached us, taking hold of my mother and me.

I pointed towards my father as I gazed up to him.

"Really now?

Hmm, I guess fooling him into believing this cringe event wasn't really all that difficult.

"Helis understands now..." I spoke in third person's perspective regarding myself, trying to make use of this event as something that triggered a rapid maturity regarding mentally.

"Oh... That certainly surprises daddy." He took a long pause, "Can you tell me what happened when the bright blue light covered your eyes?" Lyle spoke softly, trying to make sure I understood each word he said.

"Light?" I tried acting dumber which was rather painful and slow.

"Yes, energy. Do you know what it is?" He asked with a raised brow.

"Like mom magic?" I spoke simple words.

"Exactly, although, this one is a lot stronger, way stronger." He made a 'Bapowf' effect with his mouth.

In return, I also bobbed my head up and down, thinking how I could answer this question.

"You don't remember?" He asked, trying to keep himself calm although his nerves were noticeable by the shaking of his hands, he was still young after all.

"I don't know," I lied.

"I see…"

He rested his arms behind his back against the ground, gazing up at the grey-into-blue sky, "We just survived a story-storm, and now I'm talking like this to my one-year-old boy, how crazier could it get than this?"

"I don't know."

"Hmph, and what more fuel could be added to the fire?"

"Magic." I mentioned one of the most important elements in a fantasy genre.

"Huh?" Lyle raised his brows as he shifted his neck to stare into my eyes.

"Magic core, here," I said as I pointed a finger to my chest in between my lungs.

"Core?" He narrowed his eyes after hearing me and said nothing, not until what I said was processed.

"Mana core?!" He stood up, taking hold of me as he swayed me around on the air, making my body giggle unconsciously.

"We should train you since early on! Maybe this Story Storm wasn't something bad, rather, a miracle." He smiled widely.

Lyle stopped flying me around as he stood in place, "But still, what should we do about the house…?" Lyle probably talked to himself here, but I wanted to be of help to my family. I didn't care if I trespassed the mental and normal bounds here.

I struggled for a bit, signaling to my father that I wanted to be let down on the ground and slowly pitter patted towards a pouch of silver coins that was to be found in a corner of debris my eye had caught when he raised me up.

"Whoa, how much did you mature from that energy current of mana, Helis?" My father asked, appalled at my words.

"Hehe," I grinned.

"My little boy's this amazing already."

He voiced that as he slumped down to me, and then continued, "We should probably move town, to the city renowned of making talented magicians. Though you're still a kid, I know for sure you'll surpass everyone here."

Um, Mister Lyle, could you not set your expectations as high? I wanted to ask out loud, but didn't.

It's the truth after all. With the new information regarding magic and this world, I might just get the upper hand over everyone else in the long road.

"Well then, shall we begin our life anew together and make a wonderful story?" My father gazed at me as the trickle of raindrops streamed across his face as if they were tears for this life in the village lost.

I nodded and smiled.

***

And just like that, I had a new beginning in my new life.

Not ready for anything that was awaiting me in this accursed life.

Okay, I think this concludes the first chapter, so, how was it, how was it? Did you get hooked? no? too bad. The next chapter will be mostly made up of time skips, we all don't want a small main character, oh and the magic system will be explained too, the one which Helis got to learn of.
